Eunuch Ren looked at her incredulously, “Just because the cook you hired can’t cook as well as the lady, you got angry and smashed the door?”

The other servants quickly bowed their heads, as such behavior was indeed something their young miss could do.

“I’m concerned about your health, Eunuch.” Seeing Ye Muyu coming out of the house, Zhang Ning deliberately cozied up to Eunuch Ren, “Who knows if the lady has used some drug in it? I’ve heard there’s a medicinal herb in the southwest region that, if consumed, can be addictive.”

Ye Muyu raised her eyebrows; despite Zhang Ning’s tendency to spout nonsense, she was rather insightful.

She just looked at Eunuch Ren, intending to speak.

Eunuch Ren shouted angrily, “It’s none of your business whose food I like to eat. Do you mean to say that anyone better than you must have drugged the food? Ridiculous!”

“Someone!” Overcome with anger, Eunuch Ren immediately called for people.

County Magistrate Sun’s heart skipped a beat, and he hastily tried to stop Eunuch Ren, but the guard standing to the side, already very angry, moved with great speed. After appearing, they threw Sun Ning to the ground, and the beating commenced.

Ye Muyu raised her hand, signaling Chunqin to bring a stool from the courtyard.

Eunuch Ren then sat on the stool, watching the father and daughter being paddled in turns.

He wanted to paddle, and no one could stop him.

By the time Sun Ning passed out, County Magistrate Sun’s hefty body was wailing from the beatings; the maidservants beside them shivered in fear, partly worried about how County Magistrate Sun would handle them after he was fine and partly terrified by Eunuch Ren’s ruthless approach.

When the paddlings were over, County Magistrate Sun and Sun Ning were in so much pain they could barely speak.

Eunuch Ren kindly had a doctor called and waved for someone to carry the two away.

The servants, who had been kneeling at a distance, cautiously came forward and carried the two back to the rear courtyard.

Once everyone had left, and the courtyard was tidied up, the servants scattered like birds.

Only then did Ye Muyu approach, handing Eunuch Ren some tea.

“The lady’s brewed tea is indeed delightful.” Eunuch Ren enjoyed the tea immensely.

Ye Muyu crouched down and thanked, “Thank you, Eunuch.”

“What is there to thank me for? They simply disregard even me.” A flash of malice appeared in Eunuch Ren’s eyes and quickly vanished, “The lady wasn’t startled, was she?”

Eunuch Ren overly considered, “I am aware of the Sun family’s nature and naturally wouldn’t confront them directly.”

“The lady did the right thing. It’s not worth getting hurt over dealing with these fools.”

“However, Lady, do take extra care. Though the Sun family members may be foolish, they are quite bold. Are the guards around you enough?” Eunuch Ren furrowed his brow, asking with some concern.

Ye Muyu had also realized this point and nodded, “Rest assured, Eunuch, I have it under control.”

“As such, I shall not disturb the lady’s rest anymore.” Accompanied by his guard, Eunuch Ren left.
