Detonate: Chapter 7
Detonate: A Dark Mafia Romance (Beneath The Mask Series Book 2)
I lean on the black leather couch in the center of the room in Lucaâs gothic style mansion. He paces around the room. The day of the dinner party, the Falcones somehow kidnapped Nico, our hacker, from his home. Since then, weâve been busy scoping out all the places we could think of where they may hide him. So far⦠nothing.
Itâs been two weeks, but we havenât received a body yet, so itâs likely heâs still alive. The Falcones would never pass up an opportunity to gloat on the fact they finally got one over on us.
âWe need to show them just how easy it is for us to pluck one of theirs off the street,â Luca says, still storming around the house.
âSo we do just that.â
It wonât be hard. The Falcones are sloppy, yes, they have numbers but no real skill. Taking Nico probably took months of planning.
âWe need to lure them out. Marco is fucking psychotic. I mean, where the fuck is he getting all these men from? Every time we take them out, they seem to fucking respawn.â He seethes.
âLook, we canât underestimate them. Not after what they did with Sienna. They might be sloppy, but they have numbers. Weâve disarmed every attack up to this point. Now we need to show him we have access to anyone close to him. We send a threat, and in return, demand Nicoâs return?â
One wrong move and Nicoâs life will be at stake. The Falcones might be clueless, but they are more dangerous that way.
âHow about you get close to his precious cousin, Eva? Sheâs a wild card, mind you. Take her out on some dates, and that will lure them out. Then we can get our message across.â
Great. Take a Falcone out on dates. Just what I need!
As if sensing my displeasure, he says, âIt wonât be that difficult for you. She is smoking hot.â
Iâm only interested in that fiery blonde bombshell that seems to steal all of my thoughts.
âFine, Iâll turn on the charm and see what I can do.â I huff, reaching for my coffee on the table.
âOh, come on, it wonât be that bad. You look like you could do with a good fuck anyway.â He chuckles.
Heâs not wrong. Even if I did, it wonât change the fact it still wouldnât help. Not unless I can finally get Maddie out of my system. Which wonât be happening.
âAny suspicious activities around the drug shipments last night?â I change the subject.
âNo, it seems to have calmed down on that front.â
Great. At least we have one part of the business under control.
