âI wondered if my smile was as big as hers. Maybe as big. But not as beautiful.â

Oh My God!
My eyes widened in surprise as I felt his mouth against mine. The kiss was nothing like slow and sweet. Instead, it was all hard and hot.
Quillonâs fingers that were pressed against my nape, delved into my hair as he pried my lips apart with his mouth, forcing me to respond. When his tongue collided against mine, my lips moved and I started responding to the kiss. I closed my eyes and gave a low throaty moan, while Quillon placed an arm on my waist. My knees weakened and I held his shirt with both my fists. My brain shut down on its own accord as I surrendered myself to that kiss.
Hot flames spread all over my body, because it was the first time I made any physical contact with him too. My belly quivered as Quillon deepened the kiss. Holding his shirt, I pulled him closer.
My wolf purred as raw desire coursed through my body. I want him.
Just when I was about to dig my fingers into his dark, curly hair, he pushed me back.
I stumbled, breathless wondering why he did that. As I looked at him in confusion, I found him smirking at me.
At first I was puzzled, but then I grasped exactly why he kissed me. He was proving a point.
Asshole!
My wolf came out of her stupor and started fuming.
Undaunted, Quillon took a step forward and gently traced his thumb on my lower lip. âThe look on your brotherâs face when he notices your swollen lips, will give me a special kickâ he imparted amusedly.
My reaction was instant.
Drawing back my hand, I slapped Quillonâs face so hard, that I was compelled to take a step back, just by the sheer force I exerted.
âWatching your fatherâs face when he notices your swollen cheek, will give me aspecial kickâ I snapped in anger as my wolf growled in satisfaction.
He deserved it, she spat in fury, ignoring the sting in my hand.
Quillon, whose face had fallen sideward after the slap, raised his head and glared at me. His dark eyes turned the shade of night as his whole body shook in anger. For a second, I was afraid he is going to shift in front of humans but then, holding my arms; he hauled me closer and glared down at me.
I bet no one had ever hit him and that is why he was this cross.
Even though I was intimidated with his glare, I didnât let it show. I stood my ground and so did my wolf, who thankfully refused to cower. She was furious with him.
Kissing me to prove a point? Bloody wanker!
I matched his glare with my own. If I wanted I could have buried him six feet under the ground, right now, but my wolf wasnât ready to take extreme measures, yet.
He was fuming and I could feel his hot breath fanning my face. We were close. Our position was intimate because our chests were pressed against each other. While I was breathing heavily, I could sense the vibration in his chest, caused by his growls. That caused a shiver to run down the length of my body.
Quillon dropped his arms all of a sudden and let me go. He ran a hand through his hair while I composed myself. I looked at Quillon, who thankfully, had calmed down because his eyes were back to their dark brown color.
âDaryaâ I heard someone calling from behind. Trembling, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, while Quillon faced the intruder, who saved me from his ominous gaze.
Harshly rubbing my lips with the back of my hand, I looked at the person who had called me.
Vernon.
Unlike me, my wolf had no sort of attraction towards Vernon but she never made any snide remarks when I used to gush about him. Vernon was quite good looking with his auburn hair and icy blue eyes but he was no match to Quillon, in any field. I mean, it was not just about comparing, I actually didnât feel any sort of attraction towards him, like I once used to.
Quillon was in a totally different league and I am pretty sure he is used to girls swooning over him.
Well, not this girl, I mused defiantly.
When I stepped forward, I saw Vernon who was glaring at Quillon. âVernon, hiâ I beamed standing between them. âWhat are you doing here?â I questioned breathlessly while also pushing Quillon back with my shoulders. My heart was pounding badly because I didnât want them fighting against each other.
âI heard he is here. Is he troubling you?â Vernon asked me and I gulped.
âTroubling me?â I repeated unsurely.
âWe were talking until you chose to disturb us muttâ Quillon snapped placing a hand on my shoulder and pulling me closer, which caused me to stiffen. As I felt those familiar hot flames running down the length of my body, I shivered deliriously.
Vernon growled and narrowed his eyes. His gaze then dropped to Quillonâs hand, which was possessively resting on my shoulders.
âDarya?â Vernon questioned looking at me. He was waiting for me to refuse it so that he could attack Quillon. But my wolf wasnât that mean when it came to Quillon. So, she didnât want me to refuse.
âWe were talking and now⦠he is about to leaveâ I said brightly and then shot a sharp look at Quillon, who just cocked his eyebrow.
âI am?â he asked amusedly and I glared at him. Then I realized why he is doing this. He deliberately wants me to get into trouble.
âYes. You wereâ I Hissed through gritted teeth and then turned to face Vernon with another smile, âHe is leaving.â
âYes, I amâ Quillon said and I sighed. Thank-God! âOnly after she shows me her vegetable displayâ He added grinning widely. Asshole.
âDaryaâ Vernon called and I nodded.
âAfter that he is going to leaveâ or else I will personally kick him out.
âDuncan is already on his wayâ Vernon stated looking at Quillon.
âIs that supposed to scare me?â Quillon asked wryly and Vernon growled at him.
âJust five more minutes, okay?â I requested holding Quillonâs hand and dragging him away from Vernon. âHow the fuck do you know about the vegetable display?â I asked through gritted teeth dropping his hands.
âMikeâ he replied coolly following me. âSo, there is no cute guy but there is Vernon?â Quillon demanded abruptly. Paling, I stopped on my tracks. How did he guess? Itâs a secret which no other soul knows.
Nervously licking my bottom lip, I turned to face him. Itâs not like I could avoid answering that to him. However, I decided to change my mind, the moment I saw his dark eyes and furious stance.
âDidnât you ever have an unrequited crush on anyone?â I asked and Quillon growled. âWell, thatâs what this was. He still thinks I am a childâ I said with a shrug and turned ahead.
âI figured that muchâ Quillon muttered. âBut what about you?â he questioned with a growl.
âMe? What about me?â I countered walking towards the warehouse.
âDonât play games with me Daryaâ he snarled heatedly.
Huffing, I turned to face Quillon only to see that he was still glaring at me, âI got over it a long time ago.â I said honestly looking him in the eye. âThere was no future in it and besides, he is not my mateâ I murmured and soon my cheeks colored. Shit! That last part was unnecessary.
Quillon might have realized I was talking the truth because his wolf which was at the forefront until now, gave control back to him. âGoodâ he muttered and I frowned.
âGood what?â I demanded crossing my arms across my chest. âGood that he is not my mate or good that I got over it?â I practically growled.
âGood that you got over itâ he said through gritted teeth.
âHuh, you speak as though you are a king of celibacyâ I sneered and that thought made my wolf livid. She didnât just want to hurt those girls. She also wanted to hurt Quillon because we all know; it takes two hands to clap. âWhatever your past is, keep it to yourself. If you bring that up then I will kill them all but first, I will kill you.â
Ignoring his amused expression, I turned and walked towards the warehouse. That is when I spotted, my darling nephew, playing ball on the mud.
âLorcanâ I screamed in horror and rushed towards him. Except for his face, he was covered in mud. As he saw me, Lorcan grinned, stood up and started running away. Using my werewolf speed, I rushed and quickly caught him.
âYour mama is going to kill meâ I said catching his hand and dragging him towards the taps.
âBut I want to playâ Lorcan whined but I ignored him. âDaroo, who is this man?â Lorcan questioned looking at Quillon with curious eyes.
âDaroo?â Quillon repeated with a smirk.
âHe couldnât say my name when he was a toddlerâ I said defensively. âHe is a⦠friendâ I said to Lorcan. Friends?
âI donât like him. He is a bad man. He was shouting at papa yesterdayâ Lorcan said crossly and Quillon frowned at my nephew.
âYes. I knowâ I soothed Lorcan. âHe came here to say sorry to your papaâ I added and Quillon directed his frown to me.
âI am not going to apologize to anyoneâ Quillon bellowed.
âFor Godâs sake, behaveâ I hissed harshly. âHe is a child. Now hold himâ I said to Quillon, who for once, did as told but Lorcan snatched his hand free from him and held mine.
âCan you magically sprinkle the water?â Lorcan asked and I paled. Nervously, I looked at Quillon who was still frowning at Lorcan. Oh, Thank-God! He didnât find anything unusual in that question.
âBaby, we have to clean you before your mama comesâ I said removing his shoes. âI will do magic later at home, okay?â I whispered pulling his shirt off and Lorcan nodded happily. I looked at Quillon who seemed uninterested and instead was staring at the Baobab tree.
I was really glad he didnât doubt whatever Lorcan said. I didnât want to tell him about my gifts because of many reasons.
âDaryaâ I heard Duncan calling while I was washing Lorcanâs legs. He was standing at least ten feet away from us and glaring at Quillon. Behind him, Waylon, Vernon and my guards were also glaring at Quillon, who walked casually and stood beside me. âWhat is he doing here?â Duncan questioned with a growl as Lorcan rushed towards him.
Turning off the tap, I looked at Duncan nervously. Duncan looked furious. His hands were clenched to form tight fist and his grey eyes, were now black.
âI think I told you to stay away from my sisterâ Duncan specified to Quillon through gritted teeth, while placing a hand on Lorcanâs shoulder and pushed him behind, to shield him.
âShe is my mate Rhoades. You cannot keep me away from herâ Quillon said calmly.
âShe doesnât want to be with youâ Duncan launched and there was an instant growl from me. Duncan as well as everyone behind him were surprised to hear me growl.
I turned beet red when I realized what I just did. It was actually by my wolf. She wanted to be with Quillon and didnât like it when Duncan dictated things on behalf of her.
âI think she wants the contraryâ Quillon said smugly and I growled at him. This one was from my wolf too.
Taking a deep breath, I glared at Duncan as well as Quillon. âBoth of you are not going to dictate things for me. I will do as I likeâ I hissed. âDuncan, there is no need for you to worry. He is about to leaveâ I said and then turned to face Quillon.
âYou⦠the next time you come here, you inform me first. I will give you my numberâ I told him and then asking him for his cellphone, I typed my number.
âWe still have to talkâ Quillon said and I nodded.
âBut if you still want me to change my mind on that proposal then it is not going to happenâ I remarked and he scowled at me.
âWe will talk about that laterâ he mumbled and then dropping his gaze to my lips, he smirked. When I looked at his dark eyes, I knew what his intentions were. So, I jumped and took a step back which caused Quillon to smile.
As I watched that smile, something tugged at my heartstrings but I quickly looked away from him. I will not make decisions only based on my attraction to him.
âByeâ I muttered and he nodded. His eyes ran all over my body, taking me in. Gulping, I lowered my head to hide my blush while Quillon walked ahead.
Quillon stood directly in front of Duncan and they both glared at each other.
âDuncanâ I called softly and Duncanâs grey eyes clashed against mine. I shot him a pleading look. Huffing, he nodded. The guards spread apart making way for Quillon to go.
I watched Quillon until he vanished from my view. Before stepping out of the farm, he turned and looked at me.
My wolf was pleased to see that he cared. Of course he should care, I am his mate. I care about him too or else I would have let Duncan kill him.
âDid he hurt you?â Duncan asked and I shook my head. âWhy exactly was he here?â
âTo talkâ I said with a blush and Duncan frowned at me.
Clearing my throat, I decided to change the subject, âSel said Lorcan shouldnât play in the mud, but he still didâ I pointed out looking at Lorcan, who once again stepped into the mud.
Duncan groaned, âI will take him home. Are you done?â He queried and I nodded. âGood, letâs go.â
âI will bring my bagâ I mumbled and walked towards the warehouse while Duncan went to drag his son away from the mud.
That night, I was sitting in my bed and thinking about what all questions I wanted to ask with Quillon.
First, was definitely what are we going to do. Sure, we both are attracted to each other but we both donât need each other too. I was fine before I met him and sure enough I will be fine later too. However, my wolf was furious I even dared to think on those lines.
I huffed. My wolf is so confusing. She wants to be with him but she also doesnât want to be with him. Maybe itâs because of Quillonâs outrageous proposal?
Before that she was sure she only wanted to be with him. However, after hearing his outrageous proposal, she got furious and now, she wants to be with him only when he is nice to her, which itself is very rare.
I felt pity on her, actually on me. I didnât dream much about mates, but I wanted my relation with my mate to be strong and filled with love, just the way it was of many other mated couples around me.
Unfortunately, I got ⦠I sighed and fell back on the bed. Staring at the ceiling, I thought about Quillon.
He is really good looking, but he is also a major A-hole!
I donât even know how that nutcase got such a stupid idea. Did he really think that once he places his proposal, I am going to agree and jump on his bed?
There is no freaking way I am ever going to agree to such a demeaning suggestion. I want everything when it comes to mate. Respect, care, companionship, love and sex. While he wants nothing! He only placed that stupid proposal for the sake of his wolf. He knew his wolf will never agree to stay away from me and that is why he found an easiest solution available.
But that is not going to happen at all. I will never agree to it. If he had suggested we give it a shot, say for a month or two, then I would have happily agreed. But this⦠this is completely against my morals.
As my cellphone vibrated, I immediately picked it up expecting it to be a call from Quillon but sighed when I noticed that it was from a really good friend, I had in boarding school.
Three days had passed since I had given my number to Quillon and in these three days he didnât bother calling me even once. And that hurt! It hurt so freaking badly that every time I thought about it, my eyes would sting.
Duncan and Sel did notice what was happening, but they kept quiet for my sake. They didnât want to embarrass me. I didnât want others feeling the same so I had blocked everyone from the link these three days.
But I was more sad than embarrassed. Couldnât Quillon make a single call? How difficult it actually is? If I had taken his number then I would have called him once, at least for the sake of formality.
I really hope all his fingers break into tiny little pieces.
My wolf was hurt too and she would vent it out every night by going on a run. Yesterday, I had crossed Emperor and reached Grier Pack. Around three in the morning, Tyler dropped me back.
I am really turning into a hopeless case and that bastard canât even call. I am sure Quillon is doing this on purpose. But I have no clue what he is going to gain out of all this.
Maybe it gives him a special kick. After all, I am his enemyâs sister.
I hope he gets deep-fried in the deepest pit of hell!
It was eleven in the morning and I was in the farm, making potpourri. While I was making a mixture of lavender flowers, lavender oil and cinnamon, Nancy, my co-worker, called me.
âYes?â
âThere is a lady here asking for youâ Nancy replied and I furrowed my brows. âIf she is a client, donât lose her. She looked rich.â
âPoint notedâ I said removing my gloves. âWhatâs her name?â
âI didnât askâ Nancy said guiltily and I rolled my eyes.
âWhere is she?â
âNear the gate, she is holding a Hermès bagâ Nancy gushed and I raised my eyebrows impressively.
âWhy didnât you call her in?â I demanded while I was removing my apron.
âI did but she was busy staring at the name boardâ Nancy said and I stiffened.
âIâll be there in a minuteâ I said checking myself in the mirror. If the woman is a client, then I should impress her. I looked good. My hair was neatly tied in a side fish tail braid. Since I hadnât worked in mud today, my jeans and boots were clean too.
Blowing a kiss at my reflection, I rushed out.
As I walked towards the entrance, I noticed a woman, standing near the gate and staring at the name board. Nancy was right, the woman looked rich. Clad in a beige pinstripe dress, black pumps and holding a black color Hermès bag, the woman looked totally out of place.
Since she had her side to me, I couldnât see her face, but I did notice that she had creamy skin and dark blonde hair, which was neatly brushed.
I furrowed my brows because I couldnât catch her scent. At first I didnât think much of it but when I couldnât catch others scent, I realized that this woman had used moon flower fragrance. Stiffening on my spot, I narrowed my eyes, while my wolf perked up curiously.
This woman was a wolf but I didnât know who she was and what she wanted.
Taking a deep breath, I cleared my throat and it got her attention because she turned to look at me. My eyes widened when I realized that her blue-green eyes were glistening with tears.
Why was she crying staring at the name board? Now I was all the more curious to know who this woman was.
âSorryâ she mumbled with a weak smile and looking away, she wiped her tears. Taking a deep breath, she finally turned to look at me again. The woman, who looked to be in her late thirties, was really beautiful to look. Her blue-green eyes reminded me of Cortezâs eyes.
âHiâ I mumbled softly. âI am Daryaâ I said with a smile and immediately the womanâs eyes brightened. She looked really pleased to see me.
Through the corner of my eyes, I saw Nick and Shane already making their way towards us.
âHelloâ she greeted. âSo glad to finally meet you dearâ the woman said extending her hands which I took nervously. âI am Grace Sanders. Quillonâs mother.â
My mouth dropped open and for few seconds, I just stared at her.
She was Quillonâs ⦠mother? She didnât look old enough to be Quillonâs mother. Hell, she didnât look old enough to be even my mother. What was she, twelve, when she had Quillon?
Knowing that I was staring at her like an idiot, I closed my mouth and smiled shyly.
God! She is so beautiful.
âMrs. Sandersâ I said with a nervous smile, grasping her hands in mine.
âYou can call me Graceâ she said and I nodded. âI am sorry for coming uninvited, but I had to see youâ she said and I blushed. Is this some kind of test where I am supposed to impress his mother?
âItâs not a problemâ I said with a shrug. She nodded and then her eyes drifted behind me. I turned to see all my guards, glaring at Grace.
A low growl came from my throat. âLeaveâ I commanded.
âDaryaâ Nick called but I shook my head.
âGo. I will call you all if I need youâ I told them through the link. Hesitantly they nodded and returned to the graphic designs shop where they all worked.
âSorry about them. They are a little protectiveâ I said sheepishly and she nodded in understanding. âDo you want to see the farm?â Yes! I did ask her that because I honestly didnât know what else to talk about.
âYes. Sureâ she beamed. âI have a garden in front of my house too. It isnât big but you know taking care of those beautiful plants makes me feel happyâ she said with a sigh.
âI feel the sameâ I said merrily. âPeople often consider getting dirty in the mud as gross, but what would they know the tremendous joy you feel when you watch a tiny sapling you planted bearing fruitsâ I babbled and blushed deeply when I found Grace staring at me with a pleased smile.
Scratching my temples, I showed her around the farm. âThe first time I tried vertical gardening, it was a disaster. I killed all those little plantsâ she pouted staring at the vertical garden on the farm.
âItâs difficult at firstâ I admitted. However, I didnât let any of my plants die. âAt home, mostly people use wooden pallets which are capable of holding at least 20-50 pounds of soil.â
âOh! I used a wooden frameâ she mumbled ruefully.
âYou donât keep bonsaiâs?â she questioned after some time and I shook my head.
âTrees are meant to grow tall, spread their branches, and provide shade, shelter for birds and animals. Not to be cut short. Itâs just like caging an animalâ I said. Thatâs why I personally didnât like the bonsai trees. Itâs an art and without doubt very beautiful to look at, but my heart squeezes every time I think of that tree, which has been cut so short.
âYou are right. I have never thought of it that wayâ Grace remarked and I nervously chewed my bottom lip. âYou seem to know a lot about plants and trees. How long have you been gardening?â she queried.
âEver since I was sevenâ I answered and her eyes widened in surprise. âMy dad was into it and I would often help himâ I said with a warm smile.
When I turned to look at Grace, I found her staring at me intently. She knew I was adopted. âUh⦠your dad, who-?â
âMarvin Kenrickâ I said cutting her off.
âQ told me the truth about your birthâ Grace said me and I couldnât even bother hiding my surprise. He told his mother that I was adopted? Well, itâs obvious his parents would have asked about me. I knew my mom would have done the same had she been here, with me, now.
âI came to know I was adopted when I was elevenâ I said clearing my throat. Every time I think about my mom, it hurts because she was killed right in front of me, by that insane school girl.
âOh! Your father brought you here?â she questioned and I scoffed.
âHe didnât want meâ I said and her smile faded. âDuncan brought me here.â
âAbraham didnât want you here?â she probed with furrowed brows and I nodded nervously. âEven after learning you were his daughter?â she demanded in disbelief.
âEspecially after learning I was his daughterâ I clarified. I am so glad I didnât bring you up as my daughter. Iâll never forget those words because they, his words of rejection to claim me as his daughter, hurt so much, that I prefer turning deaf then hearing those words again. A drop of tear escaped from my eyes, but I quickly wiped it off. That man definitely didnât deserve my tears.
âDidnât Duncan try to talk against it?â she queried in a tender voice.
âDuncan came to know about me weeks after the former Alphaâs deathâ I said and she nodded in understanding. âWhat he did⦠I will forever be grateful to him for thatâ I added softly. Thatâs what made me look at Duncan more than just a sibling.
âI am glad you and your brother are close after everythingâ she said and I smiled. âI was close to my brother tooâ she whispered and my eyes widened. It was then I realized that Quillon had said his mother was an Alpha blood too. Which pack did she belong?
âWas?â I questioned.
âHe was killed by roguesâ she answered and I frowned. My heart started thumping because I had heard about only one Alpha who was killed by rogues.
Nervously, I asked Grace, âWhi-which pack did you be-belong to before Serene?â
âEleganceâ she whispered and a bead of tear dropped from her eyes. âMy brother was the Alpha of that pack.â
My God! Elegance? She is Cortezâs aunt? Now I realized why I felt her blue-green eyes as familiar to him.
He must know about this. He must. Why didnât he tell us that he had an aunt? Why doesnât he try to get in touch with her? I must call Cortez and ask him about this. He better have a good explanation because she clearly misses her pack.
No wonder she was staring at the name board. No wonder Quillon was staring at the name board.
This also means that Quillon is Cortezâs cousin brother. Oh Dear Lord!
âMy whole pack was destroyed by the roguesâ she said and then harshly wiped her tears. âI didnât even know what had happened to the pack. Scott hid it from me for two monthsâ she sniffed audibly.
âWhy?â I demanded to know. Why would her mate hide such a big thing from her?
âI was pregnant with Quillonâ she mumbled and then once again, wiped her tears. âScott was protecting us, but that didnât stop me from being mad at himâ she whispered softly. âHearing the truth, after two months, when I could do nothing to help my brother or pack, it hurt me badly. By then the rouges had fully taken over Elegance and made it their homeâ she growled out.
âItâs no more their homeâ I said gently.
Why doesnât Cortez accept the truth about himself to her? Why?
She chuckled humorlessly at that, âI know⦠I have to thank Cortez Moreland for thatâ she pointed out and I gulped.
Dear Heaven! This is so complicated. She doesnât know her nephew is still alive.
âHe initiated the fight and finally got rid of those muttsâ she imparted and then took a deep breath, âWhen I heard the name of your farm is Elegance Enclave, I had to see you. I just⦠wanted to know⦠why you kept that name?â she probed curiously.
I smiled and she cocked an eyebrow. Blushing, I told her, âQuillon asked me the same question.â
âQ was here?â she queried amazed at first, but amused later. Q, huh?
âYesâ I said lowering my head. Then shaking my head, I answered her previous question.
âThatâs sweet and I really appreciate you for that. Most wolves just forgot about Eleganceâ she whispered.
Not possible to forget Elegance at all. Everything started from there.
Suddenly her cellphone started ringing and she excused herself and went to answer it.
At that time, Mikhail came and handed me his cellphone, âItâs Duncanâ was all he said. Gulping, I placed the phone next to my ear.
âHelloâ I said nervously.
âIs she still there?â Duncan asked and I knew the âsheâ here referred to Quillonâs mom.
âYesâ
âWell, tell her, her mate has gone berserk and is threatening to attack my pack because I kidnapped herâ Duncan said and I knew he was amused.
Chuckling lowly, I mumbled, âThanks for letting her come.â
âShe called me firstâ Duncan said and my eyes widened in surprise.
âShe did?â
âYes, yesterday. Said she wanted to talk to you and also told me none from her pack knew about this.â Duncan concluded. Thatâs why Grace was using moonflower fragrance. To hide her scent from her pack, not mine.
âOhâ I said and looked at Grace who was talking, through gritted teeth, to someone in the phone.
âWhen she leaves the territory, go with Waylon and your guardsâ Duncan stated.
âHmmâ
âDarya?â he called sternly.
âAlong with Waylon and guards, I understoodâ I repeated rolling my eyes.
âGoodâ Duncan said and I imagined him smiling from the other end.
âByeâ I said and then cut the call. Along with Waylon and guards it is because if they are not there, then no one will be able to stop me from murdering Quillon.
After handing the cellphone back to Mikhail, I found Grace, who was waiting for me.
âI am sorry. I just⦠I didnât tell anyone in my pack that I was coming here and now Scott knows I am hereâ she told me hastily.
âI know. Duncan called meâ I said with a smile. âI will escort you until the borderâ I added walking beside her in the gravel path.
âOh! Scott, Q and others from the pack are waiting for me near the territory. There might be a war of wordsâ she pointed out.
âI can handle thatâ I said with a shrug and her eyes gleamed in delight.
Once we reached the pack territory, I climbed out of the passenger seat of Graceâs car. She insisted that I drive with her, which I obliged without any complaint. Just then the breeze brought his wonderful scent to me and I inhaled deeply, taking it in.
However, I didnât turn to look at him.
Waylon and my guards, who were behind me, immediately came and stood beside me.
I was surprised when I saw Grace climbing out of her car too.
âReally Scott? Was all this necessary?â she questioned making her way towards me. I heard low growls in distant but my eyes were focused on Grace.
âI have to leaveâ she said and then surprised me, when she wrapped her arms around me in a warm, motherly hug. âYou are a wonderful person Darya and I couldnât have asked for a better mate for my sonâ she said and I gulped.
âI know a lot will point out that you both belong to rival packs but donât let that come between youâ she advised when she saw my pale expression. âYou are mates firstâ she said and then started marching towards her car.
But before climbing in, she stated, loud and clearly, âThe doors of my pack will always be open to you.â
Dear lord!
I heard loud gasps from the other side. It was a big thing, their Luna welcoming me. The words had just as much affect as an Alphaâs order.
I smiled and nodded my head because I didnât know what else to say. She started driving and her pack wolves, spread apart to make way for her.
It was then that I looked up and my eyes clashed against black ones. Expect for his skin tone, which wasnât the exact shade either; there was nothing he inherited from his mother.
A low growl came from my wolf, who was still disappointed with him. Quillon cocked an eyebrow amused, but I ignored him and looked away.
My eyes collided with another pair of dark ones. The former Alpha- Scott Sanders.
Quillon bore more resemblance to his father. What with those dark eyes, curly black hair, and angular jaws.
His fatherâs eyes turned dark black as he saw me and, right at that moment, I realized this man doesnât like me because of who I was.
I just smiled and bowed my head in respect at him, which seemed to shock him because his eyes were as wide as saucers and his mouth, slightly parted. Blinking in bewilderment, the former Alpha looked away.
My eyes unwarily, drifted to Quillon and I found him staring at me, but since I was mad with him, I glared at him and turned to face Waylon, âLetâs goâ I said making my way towards his car.
If Waylon was startled, he didnât show it. Instead, he obliged.
Let that asshole keep wondering, why I walked away!
Once I was in the car, I pulled out my phone and called Cortez. He picked up after three rings, âQuillonâs mom was hereâ I said and there was complete silence on the other end.
