DARYA P.O.V
I was sitting on the bed and recalling Quillonâs words over and over again.
What did he mean by that? How can he be stronger than me? He obviously cannot. Okay, maybe physically he might be but I, with my gifts, am stronger than other wolves except Konrad. Well, he is just as strong as me!
Quillon was teasing me. I am sure of that.
But then again, why did my wolf cower when he ordered me. How can he order me around? I am not even in his pack.
Maybe itâs because of the whole mate thing? Maybe thatâs why my wolf listens to him. It has to be. There is no way that Quillon can be stronger than me.
Sighing, I decided to have a shower.
After the shower, I called Sel and spoke with her and Lorcan for about twenty minutes. It was around eight in the evening when I decided to ask Quillon about the dinner. I doubt the brothers go every day to their parents place to have dinner. I think Mrs. Owen cooks it for them.
When I went downstairs, Quinton was in the living room, watching a football match. Quillon was not in the house, I could sense it.  âHiâ I said standing in front of Quinn.
He looked up and smiled, âI heard you had quite an adventurous day todayâ Quinn said in a teasing tone.
âI was having until your brother showed upâ I grumbled sitting beside him.
âThatâs his favorite bike. He doesnât let anyone touch itâ Quinn imparted with a grin. âSo hats off for you.â
âThank-youâ I said sweetly.
âHe is still out there, cleaning the bikeâ Quinn said and I chuckled. âIt might take some time. I wonder what time we are going to have the dinnerâ Quinn said switching off the T.V. âCan you cook?â he asked me.
âI know only basic stuff.â
âThen I have to wait for Qâ he sighed.
âWhy? Mrs. Owen doesnât come here to cook?â
âNo. She is for cleaning purpose. She is not that great cookâ Quinn announced shaking his head.
âThen you go to your parents place for dinner?â
âNo. Thatâs only when they have something to tell us⦠or more like yell at usâ he scoffed.
âRestaurant?â
âWhy go to restaurant when we have chef Quillon at home?â Quinn stated and my eyes were as wide as saucers. âQ cooks better than momâ Quinn added totally oblivious of my shocked look.
âAre you serious?â I asked in a whisper.
Quinn looked at me and snickered before saying, âHe is a gourmet just like me.â
It was a good thing that my jaws hadnât hit the floor yet. I was totally spooked. Quillon cooks? I could not visualize Quillon in a kitchen. Gourmet?
I am speechless.
âWowâ was all I was able to say after few minutes.
âJust taste his food once, you will get addictedâ Quinn winked while Quillon entered the room, holding an A4 size envelope. For a moment, he stopped near the door and stared at us with a frown in his face.
I sat and stared at Quillon. He cooks? I know men cook but it is just⦠I never imagined Quillon could cook.
âWhat were you doing?â Quillon demanded.
âI was just telling Darya about your amazing cooking skillsâ Quinn replied calmly getting up and stretching his hands. Quillon rolled his eyes and went to his office. I had seen that office earlier but I hadnât gone there because it was his private place.
While he returned, he went directly to kitchen and I followed him.
âWhere did you learn to cook?â I asked sitting on a stool and placing my hands on the counter.
âHomeâ he replied placing a pasta pot over the heat.
âYour mom?â
âYesâ
âSince when?â I asked watching him brown chicken in oil on the other side.
âSince I was sevenâ he answered adding garlic. âQuinn and I would sit in the kitchen, waiting for dad, while she cooked. Watching her everyday⦠was enough for me to learn cookingâ he muttered adding cream and broth.
âYou want some help?â I offered.
âNo. I want to eat what I cookâ he said and I growled at his back. He chuckled and that husky sound got my attention.
I watched him while he cooked. Damn! He looked sexy!
It was a treat for my eyes, watching his muscles flex and contract while he moved around in the kitchen. My wolf let out a soft moan while I ran my eyes over him.
âYou donât cook?â Quillon asked abruptly bringing me out of my stupor.
Slapping my forehead slowly, I shook my head and answered him, âI didnât have a good role model like you. My mom cooked well and she was planning to teach me after I complete my high school but she passed away before that and Sel is terrible at cookingâ I answered with a shrug, while he drained pasta and called Quinn.
âI love Penny Gorgonzola with chickenâ Quinn said entering the chicken. Oh! So that was what Quillon was cooking.
Nice.
âMince the parsleysâ Quillon told Quinn while he tossed the pasta with sauce. I scowled at Quillon because he refused my help. I then looked at Quinn, who too seemed to be expert in cooking because he was done mincing within seconds.
When Quinn noticed me watching him in fascination, he did some cool practiced moves with the knife by throwing it up and around. When he was done, he bowed his head and I clapped. âThat was awesomeâ I said with a grin. However, my grin faded when I saw Quillon frowning at me.
What is wrong with him?
Before I could ask him anything he turned and got back to his work.
When Quillon was done tossing the pasta, he served it in three plates, after which, Quinn sprinkled cheese and minced parsley on the top.
âSpriteâ Quinn said out loud, opening the refrigerator. âYou want one Darya?â
âWhat?â
âSpriteâ
âSprite?â
âYes. We need it whenever we are eating chickenâ Quinn replied and I shrugged.
Quillon kept a plate in front of me and I looked at me. For few brief seconds our eyes clashes before it was interrupted by Quinn, who kept the sprite can beside my plate. I smiled at Quinn and muttered a Thank-you to both the brothers.
Picking up a fork, I took a deep breath. My wolf stuck her tongue out when the scent of boiled chicken hit her nose.
Nervously, I glanced at Quillon, who was waiting for me to take a bite. Smiling at him, I took a bite.
It was delectable.
My God! Quillon cooks really well.
âItâs goodâ I whispered looking at Quillon who smirked and started eating from his plate. âI love itâ I said with a grin as I took another bite.
âTold you! You wouldnât want to go to a restaurant when Quillon is at homeâ Quinn said smiling brightly and I nodded.
He was really good in cooking. For the life of me, I couldnât cook something so good.
I normally go for wine or water with chicken, but sprite was good too. It had this cool soothing effect for your digestive system after you had hot and spicy chicken.
âWant me to do the dishes?â I asked after I finished eating.
âSureâ Quinn said with a grin while Quillon scowled at him.
âItâs his turn todayâ Quillon muttered.
âWell, I can help everydayâ I said with a smile.
âYou can start from tomorrowâ he declared and Quinn pouted.
âBut-â my protest got cut off when Quillon directed his scowl at me. âOkayâ I sighed and stood up. âI promise Iâll help you the next timeâ I told Quinn before going out.
After dinner, I went upstairs with Quillon.
âYou cook really wellâ I complimented him and he smirked, which had my cheeks turn rosy red. Lowering my head and muttering a goodnight, I walked towards my room, while Quillon went to his. But before he could go in, I called him, âI need one of your cars to go to my class tomorrow.â
âYou know your way?â
âNoâ
He then shot me a look that said he thought I was stupid and I growled.
âThen where do you plan on going doll face?â he queried cocking an eyebrow. When he realized that I didnât have any answer, he sighed before saying, âI will drop you.â
He didnât stand long enough in the hallway to watch my shocked look.
Wow!
Am I dreaming or is Quillon actually being nice?
âDrop me hereâ I told Quillon, next morning, once the Emperor Pack territory guards were visible to me.
âWhy?â he demanded with a frown.
âUm⦠A car is waiting for me thereâ I lied and took a deep breath. âWhat are you doing?â I screamed when Quillon drove directly into the Emperor Pack territory. The guards, who were about to chase us, stopped when they saw me in the car.
âWhere is your college?â he queried coolly ignoring my frown.
I grumbled the address but he could still hear it clearly because an hour later, he dropped me near my college.
âThanksâ I mumbled opening the door.
âWhat time does the class ends?â Quillon asked.
âThree. Donât come to pick me up. I am going to farm. It might get lateâ I said looking at Quillon.
âYou know your way?â he asked and I nodded. I suspect I did. âWhat are they doing here?â Quillon demanded with a frown. I followed his gaze which was directed at my guards.
âThey are here for meâ I said with a smile and rushed towards them. However, stopped in my tracks and turned to face Quillon who was frowning at me. When he saw me, he shot me a dirty glare and started driving again. I stared at him with confusion, before blinking and rushing towards my guards.
âYou survivedâ Mikhail teased hugging me while I giggled.
âWhat are you guys doing here?â I asked.
âAs usual, our dutyâ Nick replied.
âThere is no need for thatâ I said rolling my eyes.
âThere is every need for that. Now go, you are already five minutes lateâ Fox said. Just then I realized that there werenât any single student in the campus.
âCrapâ I muttered and rushed towards the entrance.
My classes got over at three in the afternoon and after that Nick dropped me near the farm.
âThanks Nickâ I said waving at him.
While I was walking down the gravel path, my wolf growled and I have learnt, from the start, to never ignore her growls. I stopped on my tracks and looked around. My co-workers were engaged in their own tasks and had not noticed me yet.
My wolf curled her mouth and snarled, while her fur bristled.
I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. I couldnât see him, I couldnât catch his scent, but I knew he was here because itâs the same way my wolf behaves every time he comes.
âLeaveâ I thundered loudly and everyone stopped working and looked at me in confusion. âNowâ I said through gritted teeth.
There were twelve werewolves who were working with me and they knew why I was asking them to leave. Soon, they dragged the other nine human workers and within two minutes, I was alone in the farm. I was glad Wesley wasnât here. His parents send him only when they know I am there in the farm.
Since I didnât want any others entering the farm while I was having my little âchatâ, I decided to block the entrance. Like always, I closed my eyes, built a barrier near the entrance by using rocks, from under the surface of earth.
âDarya. Let me inâ Nick shouted through the link but I blocked him. I blocked everyone from the link.
My spine went ramrod straight as I sensed his presence behind me. I shut my eyes, because I could feel him standing right behind me and inhaling my scent.
My wolf started jumping and snarling, begging to be let out so that she could rip him to pieces. But it was not that easy.
Killing Konrad wasnât that easy.
If it was, I would have killed him the first time I met him. He was cunning and not someone you would willingly like to cross paths with. I cannot kill him because he creates illusion while I fight with him. One moment, I am standing opposite him all ready to attack him, next moment, I feel like I am in my class listening to a boring lecture.
Konrad can drive any person mad!
âLike always the do-gooderâ Konrad sighed and I opened my eyes. He walked past me and stood with his back to me. âYou think you can protect them from me?â Konrad demanded and then slowly, he turned to face me.
My eyes clashed with his green ones which were cold as always. The bangs of his dark brown hair that lies over his forehead, skimmed through his dark brows. Like always he was wearing black. Black jeans, black shirt and black hoodie. There was one thing missing- his sword.
This is Konrad, who wasnât born but created by the rogues, so that he could kill others like me, if the rogues failed. Konrad, whom no women ever carried in her womb. Konrad, who appeared from the smoke emitted after burning the body of Paulo, the soothsayer. Konrad, who cannot shift to a wolf. Konrad, who has the ability to hypnotize anyone, who can create illusions in their mind and also the one who can become unseen.
âYesâ I answered confidently staring at the soulless creature in front of me.
Even though Konrad has a good face, he doesnât have a good heart. In fact, I think he doesnât have a heart at all. He was created that way. The rogues didnât want Konrad feeling any sort of emotion except the evil ones like wrath, selfishness, cruelty, injustice and jealously. He was created with hate and hate is what he wants around him, because that is the only emotion he can understand, other than the above mentioned evil ones.
âAs long as I can, I will save them from youâ I said and Konrad cocked an eyebrow.
âYou are here to protect them, but who is there to protect you from me, hmm?â Konrad queried walking ahead and I stiffened. âYour precious five mentors will not always be with youâ he said picking a flower. âAnd your mate Quillon Sandersâ¦.â
My eyes were as wide as saucers and I stared at him in horror. My wolf too stopped snarling and arched her back, with a small whimper. She was scared and so was I.
The important question here was not how Konrad found out, but what is he going to do to Quillon?
âHe is not going to be a problem to meâ Konrad said with a shrug and I snarled. My claws were out and I am sure my eyes were red too.
âYou stay away from himâ I warned in an animalistic tone.
âThere is no fun in thatâ Konrad said in a nonchalant tone and once again, my wolf bristled and bared her fangs.
âOoh⦠this temperâ Konrad sighed, his eyes running over me. âThatâs what I like the most about youâ he smirked and I glared at him. âThat is why I donât want to kill you just like that. I want to see you lose control. I want to see you go mad in rage. I want to see how much destruction you can cause. I want you to see your loved ones dieâ he added crushing the flower.
I looked at Konrad, whose eyes had turned the shade of night and whose claws were out.
âAnd then I will kill youâ he said in a malicious tone, throwing the crumpled flowers on the ground.
âThatâs a wonderful vision you haveâ I said with a smirk while walking to the other side. We were facing each other but there was a row of rose plants between us. âBut not one which is going to be trueâ I added calculatingly.
âYou never knowâ he lifted a broad shoulder in a shrug.
Konrad sounded confident and I didnât like it one bit. When he is confident, I know he has something planned which is sure going to cause trouble to me. âWhat did you do this time? Hypnotized another wolf from the pack?â I demanded.
âYou know me so wellâ was his reply and I growled.
Oh God! Who is it?
Immediately, I opened my mindlink and connected with Duncan. âDarya, break the entrance wall nowâ Duncan snarled through the link.
âHe has hypnotized someone. Just please find and save the personâ I mumbled hastily and blocked the link. I wanted to go and find the wolf Konrad had hypnotized but I couldnât only because Konrad was still here. I am not going anywhere until he leaves.
âBut there is just one more thing I didâ he added holding his index finger up, âI sent a gift to your mate.â
I felt the ground beneath my feet collapse. What did he send to Quillon?
âIt might reach him anytimeâ Konrad said. âSo, what are you going to do now?â he probed leaning against a pole and looking at me with narrowed eyes.
âYou think I am going to run after Quillon?â I spat glaring at him.
âYou shouldâ Konrad suggested looking at me with mock sympathy. âThe gift contains a video of you dancing and killing Jaredâ he said and I paled. âYou know⦠the one who was involved in electrocuting you a few months ago?â Konrad reminded.
Gritting my teeth, I looked away.
âI am sure an Alpha male wouldnât be pleased to see his mate dance like a slutâ Konrad said smugly and I closed my eyes shut.
At the moment, when I know Konrad had hypnotized a wolf, who may be trying to kill others from the pack, the video was the least of my problems. I didnât care if Quillon sees it. He might demand an explanation which I will give to him.
âWhat gift did you think I sent him?â Konrad demanded to know. âBomb?â he teased smugly, to which I growled murderously. âActually, I should consider sending it to Quillonâ I took a threatening step forward when he said that. âAfter all, I am certain that unlike you, he can be killed with fire.â
âIf you do anything to Quillon, I swear-â
âRelaxâ Konrad sneered rolling his eyes. âKilling him instantly, without any hullabaloo, doesnât excite me.â I clenched my fists and pushed back my wolf who wanted to shift and tear Konrad apart until there is nothing left. Nothing!
âI wonder-â Konrad furrowed his brows and I looked at him. â-what will you do if I hypnotize Quillon?â
For a moment, my heart stopped beating and I felt a cold shiver run down the length of my spine. I gasped and took in a deep breath because I couldnât get enough oxygen into my lungs.
My wolf gave a long painful howl when she heard that. My legs were shaking and I knew I would fall on the ground at any moment. I gulped and blinked twice because my vision was blurry.
âNaturally, I am going to ask him to kill you and you will be forced to fight against your mateâ Konrad reasoned. I couldnât take it anymore because from fear, my emotion turned to one of anger and all I wanted to do right now was hurt him. My whole body started shaking in anger and I felt hot blood gushing through my veins. Then a scorching heat started from my heart and spread all the way up to my shoulders, to my hands, until it reached my fingertips.
âIf you end up killing him, itâs good but if it is the other way, then I wouldnât like it because obviously, I want to be the one who is going to kill youâ¦â Konrad went on and on. At that moment, the heat spread out from my fingertips as fire and it got Konradâs attention.
He stiffened when he saw that. Soon, the fire spread around from my fingertips, to my palms until it reached my wrists.
Letting out a painful scream, I threw the stream of fire at Konrad, who fell back. When he realized that his hoodie had caught fire, he quickly removed it and threw it on the ground.
Growling, I threw another stream of fire at Konrad, but with inhumane speed, he ran away. While I was looking around, I sensed him standing behind me and while I turned to face him, he punched me in the stomach that had me flying and landing on the flower plants. The fire that was in my hands spread on the plants around me.
While I sat up, I saw Konrad rushing towards me and then elbowed me in the stomach. I let out a painful scream before catching his neck with hands that were still blazing. Gritting my teeth, I tightened my hold which caused Konrad to dig his claws on my shoulders.
It hurt and so I loosened the hold I had on his neck. Konrad took that moment to stand up and step away. But before he could go away, I mentally manipulated a nearest plant, which coiled round his feet and he fell on the ground. Standing up, I rushed towards him while he broke free from the hold.
Konrad was unprepared for me. Thatâs how I was able to knee him in the chest and claw his face. âBitchâ he muttered while his face fell sideward.
Before I could attack him again, he kicked me in the stomach and I skidded and fell back a few steps away from him. Konrad was already standing, while I dusted myself and wiped the blood on my cheek. I realized that the flames in my hand had died down.
I rushed towards him again and he did the same. While I raised high and kicked his face, he clawed me in the stomach and knees. We both fell on the ground at the same time.
Snarling, Konrad stood up and I followed. While he stared into my eyes, I knew he was going to create illusion and so once again, I generated fire from my hand. While I tried to aim it at him, he wasnât there.
In fact, I wasnât in the farm either.
I was in a public road. Cars, buses were moving around me beyond speed limits. As I felt a car coming towards me, I gasped and took a step back. A loud horn caught my attention and I turned to my left to see a truck speeding towards me. It was already very close and I knew it would hit me. Covering my head with my hands, I crouched on the ground and let out a loud scream bracing myself for the hit.
However nothing happened. I waited and waited but nothing happened.
Panting for oxygen, I slowly unfolded my hands and looked up. I was back in the farm.
I closed my eyes as I realized that Konrad had created an illusion. He made me see what he wanted me to see.
Standing up, I looked around but he wasnât there. He had escaped.
Gritting my teeth, I ran a hand through my hair and took a deep breath. My wolf folded her limbs and sat down and sighed. If she was calm, it only meant Konrad was gone.
When I was sure I was calm, I looked around. My eyes widened in horror when I realized that the fire had spread around some plants. Rushing towards a nearest tap, I turned it on and soon water sprinkled around the plants from the sprinklers. But that wasnât enough to kill this fire. Which is why, using my hands, I manipulated the water to flow in the direction of the fire.
I could have absorbed all the energy from that fire, but I didnât because I wanted those burnt plants to get wet. I paled when I saw those burnt flower plants. Crap! What did I do?
Running my fingertips over my forehead, I opened my mind link and broke down the rock wall, I had made at the entrance.
Sel rushed towards me followed by Duncan and my guards Nick, Shane and Fox. I wondered where Mikhail was. âAre you alright?â Sel asked her eyes running all over my body to see if I was injured.
âI am fineâ I replied nervously licking my lower lip.
âYou donât look fineâ Duncan said through gritted teeth.
âHe hurt youâ Sel whispered, her eyes on my shoulder. I winced as I saw my shirt soaked with my blood. It happened while he dug his sharp claws on my shoulders and stomach.
âThatâs okay. I am fine nowâ I mumbled because I was completely healed.
âEvery time itâs the sameâ Duncan snarled. âYou end up soaked in blood because of that abominationâ he spat and I flinched. âHow does he even enter my land?â
âHe can become invisible Duncanâ I reminded. âHis scent will be gone too and it is not possible for any wolves to catch it. I cannot either unless he is right next to meâ I said through gritted teeth.
I hated that gift of Konrad. It made killing him difficult.
âNothing we do can protect you from him. He still finds a way to get to you, every single timeâ Duncan said and I noticed that Duncanâs wolf was at bay because his eyes had turned dark and his claws were out.
Sel pressed herself closer to him, to calm him down.
âIs it healed?â Sel asked staring at my wound and I nodded. There was no pain.
âYou shouldnât block us out Darya. We can help youâ Duncan stated looking at me with a frown.
âI know you can. But he can hypnotize youâ I pointed out. âI couldnât bear that if it happensâ I added and Duncan sighed.
Suddenly, I paled when I remembered, what Konrad said, âWhom did he hypnotize?â
âMikhailâ Shane answered and my eyes widened in horror.
âNoâ I breathed out slowly.
âWhile in trance, he stopped us from coming after youâ Fox said.
âWe were able to take him downâ Nick mumbled.
âTake him down?â I repeated uncertainly.
âWe knocked him outâ Shane said.
âHe has been taken to the clinicâ Sel said with a small smile and I heaved a sigh. I couldnât bear it if anything happens to Mikhail or anyone from my pack while they are in trance.
âThank-Godâ I sighed.
âQuillon is hereâ Duncan announced abruptly and I looked at him with wide eyes.
âWhat?â
âHe has entered the territory ten minutes ago. He might be here within thirty minutes.â
âHowâ¦?â I trailed off unsurely. Quillon here? Did he watch the video? Oh My God!
âHe can sense your pain Daryaâ Sel said and I swallowed audibly. Crap! I never thought about that.
âI need to change my clothes. I donât want Quillon seeing me like thisâ I muttered and Sel nodded.
Turning, I sped towards the baobab tree with inhumane speed. The hollow trunk of the tree, was my private dwelling and in there, there was a small cupboard where I keep clothes and other necessary items. I keep it there, if in case my clothes get untidy while I work in the farm and also to change after Konrad attacks me.
First, I picked out a towel and wiped the blood on my neck and cheek. I checked myself in the mirror and sighed when I saw that the wound from the corner of my head was healed.
Then I pulled out a navy blue tank top and light blue jeans and quickly changed into it and neatly pulled up my hair and tied a ponytail.
When I came out, Quillon had still not arrived. However, Duncan told me that he would be here soon.
âI want you to leave before he comesâ I told Duncan who frowned at me.
âWhy?â Sel demanded.
âPleaseâ I pleaded.
âNot until you tell me whyâ Sel announced crossing her arms across her chest.
âKonrad sent him a videoâ I mumbled lowering my head.
âA video of what?â Duncan queried.
âOf me killing Jaredâ I replied and behind me, my three guards inhaled sharply.
âYou killed Jared?â Sel asked and I nodded. Oh Yeah! I had not told any Alphaâs that I had killed him.
âWhy didnât you tell us?â Duncan asked in disbelief and I flinched.
âAnd a video? Konrad took a video of that?â Sel inquired in horror and I cringed because I hadnât been careful that day. All I wanted to do was kill Jared and when I found out, he was in the club I went with my guards and just killed him.
âI donât think it was himâ I said in a barely audible voice. If Konrad had been there, that day, in the club, then I could have sensed his presence.
âBut a video was takenâ Duncan pointed out.
âI understand why you wanted to kill Jared, but that was a reckless move Daryaâ Sel stated and I nervously bit my lower lip.
âI knowâ I mumbled without looking at either of them in the eye. I realized my stupidity now but that day, all I wanted to do was kill the person who had put me in the coma for twenty three days.
âThe next time you do anything like this. You will inform it to usâ Sel commanded and I nodded.
âShe is not going to do anything like this any timeâ Duncan said fiercely, frowning at his mate.
âCan we please talk about this some other time?â I begged. I really didnât want my brother and his mate fighting because of me.
âQuillon might be here any time and before thatâ¦.â I trailed off. Sel huffed and nodded.
âCall me in the eveningâ Duncan said glaring at me and I nodded.
Ten minutes later, my co-workers, who were all wolves, got back to their work, while I was cutting off the burnt plants. As I threw a dead stem on a basket, I sensed his presence.
My wolf perked up anxiously waiting for Quillonâs reaction. He would be furious, I knew it. He would demand an explanation too.
Dropping the trimmer, I stood up and turned to face Quillon, who was already looking at me.
One look at his frowning face, I knew he had seen that video.

Hope you liked it :)
How do you think Quillon is going to react now?
