Chapter 26
The Assassin's Enemy Lover
26 Cousinâs keeper
âMaster, why are we letting our cute sunflower do this? Wuwuwu..... he still a little baba yet my heartless master is making him lose his innocence wuwuwu,â said Chronos weeping inside Zi Xingxiâs mind.
Her lip twitched as she reprimanded, âKeep talking and I will mute you completely.â
Chronos: QAQ
Itâs truly hard to work for a tyrant.
While Chronos was questioning its life choices an ear-splitting bang pierced the atmosphere as a bullet whizzed spiralling through the air before hitting the target on his back.
âShit,â he muttered before another shot rang out and this time the bullet shot straight into the manâs brain before exiting the other way. He had missed his aiming spot on his first try but he had managed to recover quickly and fix it.
He was a little disappointed but he couldnât afford to waste time. He still had other targets.
BANG BANG BANG... BANG BANG!!!!!
He fired a series of shots eliminating more than half the targets but the difficulty level had gone up a notch. The men hadnât figured out the sniperâs position yet but they were now hiding behind the vehicles.
.....
Removing his finger from the trigger he said, âI have fleeting targets,â to his mother who had witnessed the entire thing. She was so proud that she vowed to print a t-shirt saying, âMy baby is a sharpshooter,â but this wasnât the time to daydream.
âThen letâs lure them out..... Secretary K back him up,â she said while looking through her binoculars.
From a distance, a series of aggressive shots filled the air and the targets that were hiding just now were suddenly caught in a quagmire.
Targeted from both sides the entire group of men were laid to waste all apart for one stubborn bastard who crawled into the hovercar and tried to drive off.
Zi Han was prepared to take the shot with his finger on the trigger but his vision was obstructed by a mirage. He knew he wouldnât be able to succeed as he wasnât experienced enough.
âMirage,â he said and Zi Xingxi acted quickly.
âSwap,â she said as she rolled over with Zi Han getting out of her way. Like a devil eyeing its prey, she smiled maliciously while targeting the energy source of the fleeing hovercar.
BANG!
A loud explosion ripped through the tranquil dessert with a green mushroom cloud rising to the sky. âMaster I thought we were keeping a low profile? Lighting up the desert with fireworks is not keeping a low profile,â complained Chronos having detected the dispatch of Saarilia military officers.
âHow will I impress my son If I keep things low profile? First impressions are very important,â she replied in her mind as she got up. âPack up and letâs go,â she said to Zi Han who was still lying on the ground.
âThats what you said when you first saved his highness from his first assassination attempt but he didnât appreciate it very much,â replied Chronos dangerously diving into this forbidden topic.
âTsk,â she tsked in annoyance while muting the insensitive AI before it could even beg for mercy while crying pitifully. She watched Zi Han get up but the moment he stood up she sensed something was wrong.
She reached over to grab him but before she could reach him his hands trembled and his knees softened. He fell to the ground but before he could touch the hot desert sand a strong arm held him and pulled him up.
Zi Xingxi was a little worried. She made him lean his entire weight on her body before walking back to the cruiser. She now regretted it. She shouldnât have let him come here in the first place. âK..... package the Marshalâs gifts.â
âYes maâam. Is the young sir alright?â he replied as he deployed drones to package up the special gifts and clean up the scene before the military officers arrived.
âHe is fine. He is just a little shaken.... I really shouldnât have let him come,â she said as she gently placed him down on the comfortable seat in the stealth cruiser.
Secretary K didnât say anything for a long time. Zi Xingxi didnât expect him to say anything as well. It was as though she was talking out loud and just wanted someone to listen. She tapped something on Zi Hanâs chest and the nanoparticles morphed back into the coin-sized device.
Kneeling before him she patted his cheeks calling out his name when she heard Secretary K say,
âIf not today then it would eventually happen sooner. He is a replica of you Maâam and as shown in the prior incident he would find himself in similar situations in the future. At least his first time being in such a predicament he had you around for support. You didnât make the wrong decision.â
Zi Xingxi, â???â
âYou just spoke a yearâs worth of words in one go. Wow, Secretary K, I was beginning to think your speech was limited to a thousand words a year.â
Secretary K, â...â
Thats because this maâam is scary QAQ. He was so afraid of saying the wrong thing and triggering her. Even now his soul had flown off to Valhalla in fear.

Atop the sky city of Saarilia, a military warship hovered above the tallest building in the city. That insignia on the hull of the warship with a sea serpent coiled in the centre of the crest was all telling.
The way it posed aggressively bearing its fangs with its mouth wide open ready to strike was especially terrifying and an accurate representation of the owner of the warship.
But within this majestic warship, someone was far from that word. Yi Chen who had been banished to the training hall for six hours instantly wilted the moment the sliding door of his cabin closed shut.
To maintain his image he had kept his back straight and his pace the same as he walked out of that training hall but in truth, his muscles were so sore that some were swollen.
Because of Yi Feng, he was forced to endure hardcore training as punishment. He was indeed his âbrotherâs keeperâ but in this case, it would be more accurate to say âcousinâs keeperâ.
