Chapter 110 - Uneasiness
The Genius Mage
The date on the invitation letter was exactly one week later.
Audrey was not surprised to see the other three members of the Dragon Slaying Squad in the lordâs mansion. There were also some people whom she had met in the competition between the five great families but could not name.
When Hera saw Audrey from afar, she raised her hand happily. âAudrey, look over here!â
Lance stopped drinking his tea and looked in Audreyâs direction, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
Audrey was not dressed in a tight suit today. Instead, she was dressed in a beautiful gown.
Kateâs golden eyes were gleaming. It was not that he had never seen Audrey wearing such a dress before.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
It was just that they were exactly the same dress, but Kate did not know why it was as if he had seen two completely different Audreys.
If the Audrey of the past could be said to be a pink flower that people loved, then the Audrey of now was like soul-stirring grass that grew on ice.
They were both beautiful and soul-stirring, but the former was weak and could not take care of herself, while the latter was sonorous and powerful.
While Kate was in a daze, Audrey had already walked to the middle of the three of them.
Hera looked Audrey up and down and let out a sigh of praise. âWow, Audrey, why are you so beautiful today? You look like youâre out on a date with your sweetheart!â
Before Audrey could say anything, a sharp female voice broke the harmony. âYo, whatâs the use of being good-looking? Arenât you just a piece of trash that uses potions to boost herself?â
âWho says so? Who doesnât know that back in the Frigid Lands, the Davis family had already admitted that Audreyâs level-10 was just piled up with high-grade potions? Sheâs just a flowery martial artist who doesnât have any real martial arts.â
The two people who spoke were the sisters from the Skecher family.
Hera only needed a glance to understand why these two people were being sarcastic â it was because they were dressed exactly the same as Audrey!
It was just that they were not as good-looking as Audrey.
When Alice saw Audrey sitting next to Lance and Kate in a grand manner, her gums were almost crushed.
When she wanted to sit in that seat, both Kate and Lance had rejected her.
Why was it enough when it was Audreyâs turn?
Alice calmed herself down and said sarcastically, âLord, you still donât know about this matter, do you?â
Lance said with a faint smile, âIs what you said true?â
âNonsense!â Jill slammed the table and stood up. She had reached level-12 after breaking through his calm state.
For a person whose cultivation had stagnated, this was the grace of a second parent!
Jill was extremely grateful to Audrey for her selfless dedication to everyone these days. She could not bear to see anyone being unfriendly to Audrey.
âLord Lance, donât believe this womanâs one-sided words. Audrey isnât such a person!â Jill looked coldly at that person, as though she was about to rush up and hit her in the next second.
Hera really did not expect Jill to be so fierce when she was anxious.
She dared to threaten people in front of Lance.
When Alice saw that Lance did not say anything, she thought that the lord was on her side, immediately, her aura became even more imposing. âAre you spouting nonsense? Let Audrey prove it to us! Back then, when we were in the Frigid Lands, she said that she wanted to refine a potion, but she didnât manage to do anything!â
âShe actually shouted in front of Master Merci Kelda. She simply doesnât know whatâs good for her!â
âYou!â Jill was furious, but she was stopped by Hera.
Lance nodded thoughtfully.
It was not that he had not heard Shadowless Ghost Hand say the bold words Audrey had said back in the Frigid Lands. He just had a strange feeling in his heart.
Why did Audrey not tell him the truth?
Could it be that she was scared?
Lance glanced at the expressionless Audrey and the arrogant-looking Alice before deciding, âSince Miss Alice doesnât believe in Audreyâs true strength, letâs have a match on the spot.â
âThose who win will receive no rewards. Those who lose will automatically give up their spots in the Templar Knights.â
Shadowless Ghost Hand looked at Lance in surprise. âMaster⦠what are you doing?â
Had miss Audreyâs importance in his masterâs heart reached such a level?
One had to know that the Templar Knightsâ spots had been personally decided by that nitpicky fellow, the head of the jury. If one of them was missing, he would duel Lance.
It was clear at a glance who would win and who would lose between Audrey and Aliceâs strength.
He did not think that his master had made this bet out of bad taste.
Alice forced herself to calm down.
She did not believe that the lord would revoke her right to enter the trial even if she lost in the competition.
This must be because the lord was biased towards her and had given her a chance to prove herself!
Aliceâs gaze was firm as she raised her chin arrogantly. âHow about it, Audrey? Do you dare to make this bet with me?â
âWhatâs there to be afraid of?â Audrey was speechless.
She could push this little girl, who kept shouting in front of her, to the ground with a single finger. Audrey did not believe that Lance did not know.
Lance suddenly laughed. âAlright, then you can start the competition here.â
âThe rules of the competition are very simple. Under the circumstances where combat aura and fighting techniques are not allowed, whoever hurts the hair of the opponent first will win.â
