it was the end of mid-terms which meant in the next couple of days students would be leaving campus to go back home for thanksgiving break.

for me it wasn't much to be festive about because i was sure i didn't have much family back home to go or to be thankful for. my family was here in connecticut.

my family wasn't something i was born in but an family i had to create on my own, i was thankful for eden, paige and the girls on the team whom had stepped up to become my family.

i knew they felt a bit of pity for me because i decided to stay in storrs and spend thanksgiving here alone instead but it was better this way, i had came an long way to be this happy and i didn't want it to ripped away from as soon as i went home.

barbie life in the dream house occupied my attention as i munched on cheez it. "NO BARBIE", i quote the famous scene as it comes on.

the apartment door opens walking in eden, "my dad is driving me nuts", she says flopping onto the couch beside me. i snort a bit because when it came to eden she was never dramatic.

eden grew up with two dads and her mother left her after birth. her dad was her birth father whom was always over the top extra which is where i think eden gets it from.

"you too act just alike", i comment and she playfully rolls her eyes turning her attention the tv. "the writers fucked up by not having Barbie and raquelle be sexy lesbian lovers", she mumbles and i laugh because everytime we watched this she said that.

"but now i have you and paige to fill that void, sexy lesbian lovers", she smirks at me wrapping her arm into mines scooting closer to me. i shake my head at her and continue to watch the show.

then the apartment door opens again walking in kk and paige, "we really need to start locking our doors", she says to me sitting up straight on the couch and welcoming our guest.

"what brings you lovely ladies here?", eden asked digging her hands into my cheez its making her grimace at her slightly. paige walks over to me and gives me soft kiss on the lips.

kk hands eden an envelope and then me one, "what's this?", i ask looking up at paige and she shrugs in confusion. i start to rip open the letter but eden was already far ahead of me.

"FRIENDS GIVING", she shouts and i grab the slip of paper out of the envelope and read it. they had invited to us to their annual Friendsgiving dinner. "this is TODAY", eden gasped and kk laughed at her.

it was always me and eden, we never really had other friends other than us so to be invited to this dinner was a bit special. eden hugs kk tight and then hugs paige whom sat on the top of the couch behind me.

"she's really excited", kk comments and i nod my head. "she's really excited about almost everything, that's what makes her so unique", i smile at eden.

she was always an bundle of joy, i turn and look at paige whom was already looking down at me and i seen her eyes that i knew a bit too well. they were filled with pity and i knew it was because of the whole spending thanksgiving by myself thing.

but this dinner was an good thing, i didn't want her to feel like it wasn't. "this is good", i whisper to her holding her hands into mines and she gives me an upside down smile.

we were all dressed nice for the dinner, we took an couple pictures and mingled along each other and now it was time for dinner.

"before we eat, we have to say what we're thankful for it doesn't have to an whole lot but just an couple of words", nika said and we all nodded.

she started it off and then it went counter clock wise, after an while it was finally paige turn who sat on the right side of me. "there's a lot to be thankful for this year like every year but i thankful for all of you, my family, basketball, the fans and everything but I'm most thankful for sydney", she looks over at me.

i smile at her, "because i know she doesn't know it but sydney has became an person I've learned to love and grow with and i couldn't be any more grateful that I get to continue to love her every single day... so yeah I'm thankful for you syd", she says and I can feel tears in my eyes.

everybody around the table says "aww", at paige speech and now it was my turn. "at first I didn't have a lot to be thankful for i only had eden but then i met all of you... the bonds ive grown with each one of you is special and something worthy to cherish. I didnt know much about family until now and that you don't need to be born in a family but you can always create your own and that's what you guys have become my family", i say.

i let out an sigh and i turn to paige, "and baby you know im thankful for you because none of this would've happened without you, i love you", i say and her eyes widen.

she pulls me into an quick kiss, "she loves me", she teases and i laugh at her. we continue to go around the table and finally we're back at nika. "OKAY LETS FEAST", she says and we start to dig into the food.

we eat and talk amongst each other until we finish, we pull out some bottles and card/board games for the rest of the night. i had drifted away from the party and hid behind the kitchen counter a bit buzzed but not too much.

eden walks into the kitchen and smiles at me, "i've been looking for you", she comments as she sits down beside me. i hum at her and there's an silence.

"i feel like we haven't just sat down and talked to each other in so long, I've missed you", she says pulling me into an hug. though me and eden lived in the same apartment we both occupied with our own things and we both recently into new relationships.

"i've missed you too e but you know I'll always be here", i hug her back and she sighs. "i know", she says and then there's an comfortable silence.

eden breaks the silence and starts to talk, i was a bit skeptical about paige at first, but now i know i have nothing to worry about. she loves you and you love her... genuinely and that's all i ever wanted for you. you deserve this life and a million more like it syd...", she hugs me tighter as she finishes.

"thank you e, and you deserve it too", i tell her and she smiles at me. soon kk and paige find us in the kitchen laughing our little heads off and sharing an bottle.

they shake their heads at us, "hiiiiiii", eden squeals at the sight of kk standing up from the floor and hugging the girl tight. it was safe to say that when eden got drunk she was very touchy and sentimental.

"how drunk are you ok the scale 1 to 10", kk asks eden as they walk out of the kitchen. paige looks at me lends her hand out for me, "cmon baby... let's go get some water in your system", she says and i sigh grabbing her hand and standing up.
