HER POV
I took a breath of relief realising I wasn't in hell. I wasn't dead. I was very much alive. I was happy.
I learned I was lying on the ground facing a little old, very small creaked-up glass window with my hands tied up on my back. My body felt weak and painful.
"Untie her hands and send a nurse to keep a check on her," one of them said.
I heard the muffling sound of shoes a couple of seconds later. Without much delay, I felt fingers working on my wrist, trying to untie me and they finally did.
The relief and easiness I felt.... I just can't describe it in words. But I still did not react for them to notice. I lay down lifelessly.
"Let's go and get someone to wake her up," I heard a man say so.
"Yeah!" The other said and moments later they left the room with the door closed.
I opened my eyes very slowly and very carefully turned on my back, slightly lifting up my hands. God, my whole body was in pain. Every muscle and bone.
Did they just throw me on the ground from a couple of floors or what?
I inhaled a deep breath and exhaled through my mouth after I lay on my back on the ground.
I realised I was held captive with these men in some building. The sunlight was screaming about how long the day had grown since I stepped out of my house. I wondered what time of the day it was, although I could comprehend that it was somewhere around noon.
My body felt too weak to even move an inch. But I had to.
I was sure my family would be going crazy at home. I haven't been away from my house for this long, that too without informing anyone. Radhika, Ma-sa, Baba-sa and Bhaisa all would be very worried for me. I had to anyhow tell them about my situation. In fact I should just leave from here and reach home.
I tried to sit up after gaining courage and pushing myself to do so. I moaned in pain and finally sat with my back facing the wall beside the window.
Within these minutes, I realised I had to leave. If this is what they did to me while I was unconscious, god knows what they'll do once they are aware that I'm awake. I didn't even know who they were.
I tried to stand up on my legs but they felt heavy.
"Aahhh..." I sighed tiredly and sat down again.
Again I tried to stand up with the support of the wall and finally stood up with trembling legs. It felt as if I hadn't walked for ages.
I wondered if they swung me around like a sack of potatoes while I was unconscious.
Slowly and steadily I walked up to the window and laid half of my body weight over it carefully, given that it was damaged in multiple areas. I carefully stood with its support so that I didn't get hurt. I made no noise so as to not come to their notice.
I looked around from the window and found a couple of men roaming around this place. I haven't been here ever so I could not guess what this place was. It looked like a house but it was too old and weary to be called one. It could be storage or something.
I found a bunch of men entering from the iron gates with guns and hockey sticks. My eyes furrowed looking at them.
So many men to kill me? What are they thinking? What the hell did I even do? Who even are these people?
My heart thumped wildly at the flood of these thoughts.
Suddenly a blasting crash was seen and heard. I found an SUV car came charging through the iron gates. As the vehicle smashed into the heavy metal iron gate barriers with ruthless force, the gates crumbled outward and flung aside. Resulting in the tearing of the iron into deformed pieces.
My stomach churned as my mind struggled to process what I was seeing. I was too stunned to say anything. The car didn't stop until it blew up a couple of drums and tyres into the air.
I stood there, speechless. Never in my life did I witness such rage and violence in front of my eyes. My heartbeats raced as if I was the one racing the car in the house.
What I witnessed next again caught me off guard. It made me happy and scared at the same time.
The door swung open and I found him stepping out of the car in a black shirt and grey pants. Even with this distance, I could clearly figure him out. His fists were clenched tightly at his sides, veins stretched and his jaw was locked in place as if he were holding back a storm within.
Without a doubt, I could tell he knew I was here. He came to find me.
I immediately felt a rush of happiness, hope and a tinge of disbelief in seconds. This was the happiest I've ever beenâhis presence here today brought me big relief. My feelings and expressions were a mix of awe and gratitude when I realized he had come for me, ready to fight for meâno matter the cost.
His face could hardly mask his fury and I could see all his expressions. He looked around for a moment as if looking for something. My breath caught in my throat sensing a wave of safety wash over me, knowing that everything would be alrightâ now that he was here.
Wasting no time he started heading towards the building. The way he walked his head held high and shoulders squared, it was clear he was not leaving alone from here. I couldn't stop smiling and looking at him.
I wanted to rush into his arms now. I wanted to hug him tight.
Whereas before he could walk further a group of men tried to step in front of him with sticks in their hands. But just as one of them tried to charge at him, he dodged with lightning reflexes. And countered with a punch that knocked the attacker collapsed to the ground. Another man lunged at him with a rod, but with a swift kick, the rod fled to the ground.
I was so happy and thrilled seeing him do the actions as if there was no pain in my body. Was he impressing me? He didn't have to though, I'm already smitten.
The other one tried to get closer to him and hit on his biceps though in the next second, he received a kick into his stomach. And with the scream itself, I could understand how powerful the kick was. And with another kick, the man was tossed away on the ground. Suddenly a man came from behind and tried to hit him in the head with his stick but before he could he was pulled out in the front and gripped tightly by the neck. He was getting breathless even when getting strangled by one hand.
God the amount of strength he has, I'm sure his hands were turning veiny.
Instead of getting dreadful by the scene, I was happy he was here but soon started to get worried for him. But I wondered how he knew about all this, when in fact I was clueless about the place and the people.
The fight was getting bigger making me stressed. Because the number of people he was fighting kept increasing from one to eight in just a few minutes.
I wondered if screaming from here would help him or would just worsen the situation. But before I could worry further I found a bunch of cars crashing into the house. And in no time the fight grew more intense. I was relieved he wasn't alone but equally worried about him getting hurt.
I saw Samrit joining him in the fight and suddenly my eyes travelled to one of the men away from the crowd. I walked a little more to the broken edge of the window and tried to look closer. The man was trying to sneak quietly, maybe to the other part of the house.
I tried to look as clear as I could and my eyes widened realising it was Angad.
Oh God!
I was under the hostage of Angad and his men all this time? Merely thinking about this my heart banged against my chest. These men were ill-minded with bad intentions. The thought of them touching my body even in the slightest possible way creeps me out.
Suddenly I heard some muffling from the other end of the door. I looked back at the door holding my heart in place. My hands started to tremble realising the door was not locked. Tension made its way over my forehead.
"She's inside the room. Go hurry up.." I heard a man say that followed by a commotion.
I quickly looked around the room as the sweat beads followed over my face. My body was too weak to be able to do anything. In fact, my voice didn't seem to come out. I was so dreadful about the situation that I couldn't get words out of my mouth. My eyes were crammed with tears which were now on the verge of falling. I looked out of the window and the fight only seemed to get messier.
I wanted to be set free from here. I wanted to go to him. A hug from him could only calm my mind and make me feel safe. But if only that were possible.
I noticed him getting hit a couple of times but also beat the shit out of others a dozen times. I wanted to check his injuries. A tear dropped from my eyes seeing him fight like that. I felt an undeniable pull to stay close to him. I craved his comfort.
My chest tightened when I heard the knob turning around a couple of times. An idea struck me to escape through the window. I quickly held the fractured edge of the window glass and tried to break it a little to make it wider but failed miserably. The glasswork was too strong to be broken. I tried one more time but instead got a cut in hand.
"Aahh" I cried out of pain as blood drew out of my palm.
Before I could do anything the door pushed open and I found four men and a nurse in her twentiesâ I guess, entering the room.
"She's alive!" one of them exclaimed.
Hearing them, a wave of terror ran through my heart uncontrollably. One of them pushed the nurse away while the rest made their way to me.
"What the hell are you waiting for? Get her now!!" Came a roaring voice from the door.
I looked at the door and there stood a six feet tall man with a gun in his hand. Panic flooded into me upon seeing him. I could immediately recall him from a year before. He was one of the men who teased us in Somgarh.
Before I could process any further they grabbed onto my arms. I tried to resist them but my trembling legs came in the way. They held me by my arms and one of them grabbed my hair.
"You think you can fool us?" the one holding my hair shouted into my ears.
"LEEEAVEE MEEE!!" I shouted back but only to get ignored.
"QUICKK!" the man at the door yelled.
I tried to throw my arms and legs but they yanked me shamelessly not caring about my pain at all.
What the hell was happening here? My heart thudded wildly at the thought of being held captive again under these filthy men.
The men dragged me out of the room and followed behind that man. Pain tore through me, and I couldn't help but cry in a low voice. But they cared nothing. They made us practically run to downstairs, almost making me fall on the stairs.
"Throw her into one of the rooms and guard this building." I heard the man say.
And the next moment I was thrown into a room close to the stairs. My face almost hit the ground but luckily I got saved. I heard them close the door and the voices of people rushing out of the building.
I cried after sitting up and pulling my knees closer to my chest. I was wishing to go near him and just look at me now. It was as if the universe was trying to pull us apart. I want to go. I want to go away from these men. I cried and howled but of no use.
But I also knew crying here would do no good. I had to leave. I need to find a way. I can't sit here idly knowing he was fighting them all for me.
I stood up and looked around the room but unfortunately, there was no window or any kind of escape.
Suddenly the door burst open and I found that tall man. Blood dripped down his arms, staining his torn sleeves. His gaze was intense, with every step he took towards me. Rage was burning in his eyes.
"I can see, you remember me quite well!" he spoke.
I hurriedly took back a few steps with trembling legs. My stomach twisted with growing fear but I didn't want him to notice it. Forcing down the lump that formed in my throat, I stared back at him with some courage.
"You are a stinky garbage, I can't ignore," I spit those words at him.
He clenched his jaw and charged towards me. I quickly stepped back and looked around to find anything. Just anything. Luckily I saw a bamboo stick lying on the floor. Before he could catch me I jumped onto my left and bent to pick up the stick.
"Yo...You stay away from me," With a tight grip, I pointed the stick toward him, urging him to stop.
From the corner of my eyes, I noticed the door was slightly open.
"What else then? There is no one to save you today." he laughed a little taking a step closer.
He was a filthy man. His disgusting smirk was making me nauseous. I realised if I didn't run away from him now, things would turn worse.
There was no doubt I was scared right now. I did not have the strength and body to fight, also he was very powerful compared to me. Even if I defended myself, my injuries would come in the way. The smartest solution right now was to distract him and run away from here.
"You don't know... My man is here.... He is going to kill you all.." I tried to sound confident while bluffing.
He chuckled and came closer taking another step.
"No man can stop me from having you today." He said and tried to grab my shoulders.
In a snap, I kicked his right knee and then hit his head with the stick when he leaned down in pain. He cursed in despair and I pushed him away after hitting his back again.
"In your dreams!" I said and ran out of the room as quick as possible with shivering legs.
"Catch her!!" I heard his voice a couple of seconds later.
Coming out of the room I could not find anyone here. I could only hear voices coming from outside. Every second in this place was sending shivers down my spine. I quickly ran towards the exit of the building, hoping I'd find him. My arms and legs were in treble pain but I cared nothing about them.
I came near the exit and found the gates open. And I never felt this happy to witness the daylight ever. Quickly I held the doors and pulled them open. As soon as I stepped outside the door I felt a shooting pain when someone pulled my hair from behind.
"Aaaaaahh," I cried in pain, the stick fell from my hands when my silhouette curved backwards with the pull of the grip on my hair.
"You think you can run away from me?" I heard him.
I turned my head a little to look at him. He looked extremely pissed.
I tried to free myself from him but his hold only got stronger. I couldn't hold back any longer. A single tear escaped, followed by another, and then more.
Before I could react any further, I heard a deafening gunshot blasting through my ears, followed by which I witnessed the bullet tear through his shoulder, blood dripping out of it
"AAAAAAAAHHHH" he cried in pain whereas the moment left a ringing in my head as my heart pounded in a nightmare.
He immediately loosened hold of my hair and stumbled back.
Even before I could process what just happened right now. The man was again shot in the knee, he staggered back while blood was dripping onto the ground.
"AAAAAAAAAAHH" he cried out loud.
As a witness to this moment, I stood frozen, too shocked to utter even a single word. Gathering some courage I tried to breathe naturally and turned around to look in the direction of the gunshot.
My breath caught in my throat when I spotted him standing at a distance, with his gun aimed at the man lying beside me. Amid the chaos, he stood tall, unwavering, like a storm that couldn't be controlled.
Time seemed to stop and breathing seemed natural when our eyes met. Before I knew it, tears were slipping down my cheeks. I could not look away. I did not want to either. All I wanted was to run. Run to him. And I did.
Emotions overwhelmed me, my vision was getting blurry as the tears kept falling. A smile spread across my face while I sprinted toward him. My feet were pounding against the ground, but I was barely feeling any pain. All that mattered was reaching him, closing the distance between us.
His figure was growing clearer with each step and I could glimpse the relief in his eyes without any smile. He was furious but a little at ease. My arms opened instinctively, ready to wrap around him in a tight hug that spoke louder than my words ever could. The minute I landed in his arms, he protectively snaked my back putting me as close I could be in his embrace.
Immediately I breathed in peace feeling safe and loved in his arms. He didn't have to say anything but I understood it all. I could feel my chest growing up and down against his due to my fast breathing but I smiled through my tears feeling at home while hugging him as tight as possible.
"I love you.." I confessed, in between my breaths.
And he responded by taking another shot behind my back.
