Chapter 64
Bride Behind The Mask
Marguerite couldnât get why Frederick kept defending Yuna when the truth was as clear as day.
But hey, was it really that strange?
They were a couple head over heels in love, after all. A boyfriend standing up for his girlfriend didnât need a reason.
Even if his girlfriend was in the wrong.
Even if the whole world knew she had hurt others, heâd still stubbornly stand by her side.
Once Frederick spoke up, all the media shut up, and no one dared to question Yuna anymore.
Chuck was worried this issue was going to blow up.
After all, Frederick defending Yuna under the public eye, although rational and fair, was bound to raise eyebrows.
Frederickâs love life was always a closely guarded secret. His indecision between Marguerite and Yuna, if leaked, would definitely attract a lot of attention.
Thinking quickly. Chuck stepped up to interrupt the media and called for several employees to block the cameras.
âAlright folks, letâs call it a day. This is a matter between corporations, not something to be broadcast. If thereâs any update, weâll share it on our official website.â
Although they didnât get the juicy part, the media didnât want to annoy Frederick and had no choice but to leave.
The room quickly returned to silence. Marguerite was pissed off. She shouldâve been happy with her victory, but she couldnât muster any enthusiasm.
She needed an apology from Yuna. She needed her to say âIâm sorryâ!
It was a matter of her dignity and her innocence.
But all this was taken away by Frederick.
Marguerite clenched her teeth, gave Yuna a cold look, and said firmly:
âI donât care what tricks youâve got up your sleeve or whoâs backing you. But with this apology, you owe me. And what you owe, you gotta pay!â
With that, Marguerite took off her lab coat and rubber gloves and walked away without even glancing at Frederick.
As Marguerite walked by, Yuna stepped back nervously. Her fear was exposed, but she had too much on her plate to care.
Now, the only thing she needed to keep steady was Frederickâs mood.
So, she immediately took Frederickâs arm and cooed, âFreddie, I need to talk to you alone. Letâs go to the office downstairs.â
Margueriteâs departure made Frederick anxious. He shook off Yunaâs hand and glared at her: âJust because I defended you doesnât mean I believe you. Scram!â
With his eyes wide open in anger, he too left the room.
Yuna instinctively wanted to chase after him but was blocked by Robert.
He had a serious look on his face, clearly not as friendly as he was with Marguerite.
âMs. Lockwood, Frederick has made his feelings clear. If you go after him now, youâre just asking for trouble. He needs some time to think things over. You should go home.â
Despite his handsome looks, Robertâs gentlemanly demeanor was no match for Frederickâs strong personal charm. Yuna, who had always valued appearances, had no idea how outstanding Robert was.
She retorted angrily, âDo you know who I am? Iâm his fiancée! What right do you have to interfere in my business with Freddie?â
Robert lost patience with Yunaâs attitude. He didnât even look at her as he gave an order to Chuck:
âChuck, get the bodyguards to escort her out!â
âYes, Mr. Fitzgerald!â
As soon as his words fell, two tall bodyguards walked in.
They were dressed in black suits and ties, their sunglasses making their eyes unreadable. Their intimidating presence was even greater than that of a regular thug.
âLet go of me! Do you know who I am? Iâm Frederickâs fiancée! You uncouth people!â
Robert gave the ranting woman a deep look, his eyebrows raising slightly. âYouâre Frederickâs woman?â
Yuna thought her words had successfully intimidated the man before her. Though held by the bodyguards, she still held her head high. âOf course!â
A mischievous smile appeared on Robertâs thoughtful face, his eyes flashing with a ruthless light.
âYuna, remember this. As long as Iâm here, youâll never be Frederickâs woman in this lifetime.â
