Chapter 528
Bride Behind The Mask
Teresa was talking out of her hat, and Marguerite knew it.
She clamped a hand over Teresaâs mouth from behind and hissed in her ear, âWould you quit sticking your nose where it doesnât belong? Mind your own beeswax, why donât you?â
Teresa, rebellious as ever, wriggled free from Margueriteâs grip and gazed at her with puppy dog eyes.
Hmph! It was all for her momâs sake that she was doing this! If Yuna stayed, how was she supposed to reconnect her dad and mom?
Her mom was so clueless, always telling her to keep her mitts off everything!
She was so disappointed!
The more Teresa thought about it, the more she felt wronged, and with a huffy âhmph,â she stomped away, clomping up the stairs in a huff.
Marguerite sighed but let her go. Teresa was quick to anger and quick to cool down; no need to fret over it.
1 Meanwhile, at the other end of the room, Hayes had made up his mind. After a long contemplation, he decided to plead for his mom. He toddled over to the man, tugged timidly at his sleeve, and whispered, âDad⦠forgive Mom, pleaseâ¦â
The little guy didnât say much, stammering out just that simple request, but it tugged at Frederickâs heartstrings.
He looked down at the earnest faces of the two children, but his gaze kept drifting back to Marguerite, feeling a peculiar ache in his chest.
He hadnât expected that just a week with Marguerite would bring such rapid progress in Manley.
The usually brash kid was ready to give up everything to keep Yuna around.
Even Hayes, the victim, was willing to step forward and ask for mercy on Yunaâs behalf.
He glared at the sobbing Yuna before him, the rage in his chest nearly bursting forth.
But for the sake of his children, he held it back.
âLook what you have done to Hayes, and consider what has Hayes done for you! Donât you feel any shame?â he demanded, his stance towering over her like a sovereign.
Yuna trembled with fear, shaking her head vigorously, her shoulders heaving with sobs, âFreddie, Iâm so sorry! I wonât do it again! Iâll never play favorites again! I swearâ¦â
Watching the groveling woman before him, Frederick felt nothing but disgust. How he wished that Hayes was Margueriteâs child! If that were true, heâd have every reason to send Yuna to hell! But the paternity test forced him to accept the bitter truth.
Hayes and Manley were Yunaâs children! And how could he ignore his sonâs pleas and cruelly cast Yuna out?
In the end, Frederick chose to compromise. He gritted his teeth, veins throbbing on his forehead, âYuna, you can stay. But without my say-so, you donât come near Hayes!â
Yuna nodded vigorously, âIâll agree to anything just to stay! Freddie, I wonât let you down this time!â
He scoffed, his voice laced with sarcasm, âYour resolve should be shown to your sons, not me!â
Yuna nodded dumbly like a bobblehead. Seeing this, Manley rushed to hug Yuna, while Hayes was held back by Frederick.
Inexplicably, Marguerite felt a twinge of loss. She wasnât interested in Yunaâs drama, but she had to admit, deep down, sheâd hoped Yupa would leave.
She watched Yuna and Manleyâs tearful embrace, Yunaâs cries moving yet pitiful, as if she truly intended to turn over a new leaf.
But that was just the surface; what she would do next was still up in the air.
Yunaâs true intentions were anyoneâs guess.
