Chapter 477
Bride Behind The Mask
Yunaâs eyes went wide with shock.
It wasnât that Zoeâs scheme was too sinister; it was the sudden, nagging realization that she hadnât thought of it first.
That little brat Hayes, always looking so pale and scrawny, and the major transfusion requires lots of blood? She wondered how long heâd last.
But then, Yuna furrowed her brow in hesitation, quickly scanning the room before stealthily closing the door. She then whispered, âHayes isnât a blood match for Manley. Theyâre not even related by blood!â
Zoeâs smile grew darker, âIf you want a match, weâll make one.â
Yuna was confused, âWhat do you mean?â
âThis is a golden opportunity to get rid of Hayes: If heâs a match, perfect. His life for Manleyâs, itâs worth it! If not, weâll just say he was. Weâll drain the brat dry and see if he survives that!â
Yunaâs face lit up with a mischievous glee, âMom, thatâs brilliant! Iâve never liked that little brat anyway!â
Zoe nodded proudly, her plan coming together perfectly, âAnd donât worry about Mr. Winston finding out. We have a client at our casino who works at the hospitalâs blood bank. Iâll bribe him to have some intern draw Hayesâ blood. Once we finish, weâll dump him out in the boonies. By the time Mr. Winston finds him, itâll be too late, and heâll never know what happened.
And if he does find out, weâll pin it all on the intern. If that intern dares to rat you out, Iâll give you another pill, and weâll turn him into a vegetable too!â
Yuna was practically buzzing with the thrill of it, seeing Hayesâ demise in her mind long before the plan had even been set into motion.
Both Zoe and Yuna shared a triumphant smirk, but Ablettâs face was a mask of grim disapproval, âHayes is just a three-year-old kid. Isnât this a bit much? Heâs no threat to you. Thereâs a line you just donât cross, especially with a child!â Ablett shivered with the weight of their cold-heartedness.
Zoe glared at him, âNo threat? How can you be sure? Hayes is Margueriteâs son, and who knows when she might spill the beans and take him for a paternity test? If that happens, weâre all done for!
Marguerite is bad luck, and so is her offspring. Havenât we suffered enough because of them? Every time we face danger, itâs Yuna and I who come up with solutions. What do you do? If you canât protect us, shut your trap and stop adding to the chaos!â
Ablett, red-faced and furious, clutched his chest, struggling to stand.
Pointing a trembling finger at Zoe, he spat, âYouâre losing your mind! Iâve turned a blind eye to your petty squabbles, but murdering a three-year-old? Thereâs karma to consider!â
âIf youâre so keen on karma, why donât you hurry up and reincarnate? We sure as hell donât feel sorry for Hayes! You are always preaching your fake piety, but your sins are no less than ours!â
Zoeâs words were sharp, cutting through any pretense of respect.
With a huff, Ablett stormed out of the room, leaving Yuna to shrink back in fear.
âMom, Dad wonât turn on us, will he? What if he goes to Freddie with this?â
Zoe snorted, âYour fatherâs a coward. He wonât dare. But weâve been loud. We didnât wake Manley, did we?â
They both turned to check on Manley, who seemed to be sound asleep, and breathed a sigh of relief.
What they didnât know was that Manley had been awakened by their quarrel.
What had he just heard? Mommy and Grandma planning to kill Hayes!
Though Manley despised Hayes and childishly wished all the worldâs misfortunes upon him, the idea of murder was terrifying to a three-year-old.
His beloved mommy and grandma were plotting something so horrendous Trembling under his covers, Manley found himself in a terrible quandary. Should he warn Hayes?
