Chapter 47
Bride Behind The Mask
Marguerite: âWhat?â
How come Robert always stirs up trouble?
Fredrick was obviously fed up with her, how could he possibly let her move into his office and let her hang around him all day?
As for that stormy night, he only slept with her because he felt sorry for her.
Marguerite wanted to find an excuse to slip away, but unexpectedly, Frederick suddenly spoke with a straightforward tone, âSure.â
Marguerite was stunned.
Was Frederick really willing to let her move in?
Even if he was, she wasnât!
Her relationship with Frederick was like a cat and mouse, they were always at each otherâs throats.
With such frequent interactions, they were bound to have conflicts that would make her unhappy.
Marguerite immediately rejected him: âNo way!â
âYour rejection is invalid.â
Upon hearing this, Marguerite quickly looked up at Frederick, only to find that he was staring back at her, not giving her the chance to argue.
Marguerite was almost speechless, her astonishment turned into confusion. âWhy?â
He squinted slightly and said, âTo keep you from being distracted and not focusing on your work.â
Marguerite was filled with complaints, but Frederickâs words left her feeling helpless, she even forgot to be angry. âWhat have I done to make you guard against me like Iâm a thief?â
âMarguerite, you inexplicably became my wife. Donât you think I should be on guard?â
Every time Frederick thought about this, he couldnât help but feel angry.
But today, he didnât get angry.
However, Margueriteâs frown deepened.
Again, this was the reason!
She inexplicably became his wife, and she was just as puzzled.
She did make a deal with a mystery man to marry Frederick.
But she thought, even if it was a marriage in name only, they should go through all the normal procedures of marriage.
Who would have thought that they would have gotten married while she was unconscious?
What was even stranger was that the mystery man had only called her twice and then disappeared without a trace.
She had no idea about this mystery man who had schemed against her and was secretly watching her.
She didnât even know if it was a man or a woman.
Marguerite had nowhere to vent her grievances, and the man in front of her seemed to have no intention of letting her go.
Going head-to-head would only end in defeat.
Marguerite let out a heavy sigh, her voice of compromise containing a hint of defiance: âIâll move in.â
No matter how sharp-tongued Frederick was, it was not as damaging as the gossip spread by her colleagues downstairs.
If she moved upstairs, she could at least get some peace and quiet.
Robert, having achieved his aim, snapped his fingers happily and said, âGreat, now go get your stuff moved upstairs.â
Marguerite nodded, turned around, and left.
After she had gone, Robert looked at Frederick and couldnât help but sigh, âMarguerite has a sharp tongue and she almost leaves you speechless.â âShe pours all her emotions onto me. Although sheâs always bullied, she never fights back; she just confronts those sheâs close to.â
Frederick was holding a pen, signing a document quickly without even lifting his head.
Every time he thought about the obvious scars on Marguerite, he felt pain.
Whoever did this to her, heâs gonna get to the bottom of it!
Robertâs gentle and elegant face was full of smiles, he didnât care about Frederickâs dignity and decided to uncover his secret.
âShe does always confront those sheâs close to, but I think you enjoy it. Right, Frederick?â
Frederick stopped, looked up at him, and said, âAs the young master of the Fitzgerald Group, instead of working, you always come to me for gossip. If I remember correctly, your father is looking for you, isnât he?â
His control and intelligence were fully displayed at this moment.
Robertâs face instantly darkened. Fearing that Frederick would reveal his whereabouts to his father, he had to shut up.
At this time, Marguerite had already gone downstairs, found a box, and returned to her desk, starting to pack some odds and ends.
A few colleagues exchanged glances, then a female colleague couldnât help but ask out of curiosity, âMarguerite, where are you going? Are you quitting?â
Before Marguerite could reply, Chuck bluntly answered, âSheâs not quitting: sheâs moving upstairs!â
âUpstairs?â The female colleague was taken aback. âTo the CEOâs office?â
Chuck smiled and slowly nodded, âYes!â
The female colleague immediately murmured, âI was wondering why she seemed so happy, it turns out she got promoted.â
