Chapter 46
Bride Behind The Mask
The employees were shocked and envious of the situation, wondering if they had ever disrespected Marguerite.
If she snitched to Mr. Winston, theyâd all be in hot water!
Marguerite stared at the meal on her desk, scratching her head in confusion. If she refused, would Frederick be offended?
âAll right,â she finally said, scratching her head. âNo need for the food next time.â
She leaned in towards Chuck, her expression helpless. âI canât accept his kindness. Do you get it?â
Chuck was all smiles. âI get it! I totally get it!â
Chuck made promises he didnât keep, which was pretty annoying.
For several days, Chuck would deliver meals in Frederickâs name at lunchtime.
Not only that, but heâd watch Marguerite eat, and then ask about her well-being before leaving.
The colleagues definitely saw everything and their attitude towards Marguerite changed dramatically.
Every day when she walked into the office, she was met with smiling faces, and the heavy-duty tasks never came her way.
Someone even bought coffee for her. She was just an intern!
Were they misunderstanding Marguerite even more?
Finally, when Chuck delivered food again, Marguerite, unable to bear the weird glances, whispered to Chuck, âCan you stop coming here? Iâm an adult, and I can eat on my own. I donât need you to remind me.â
Chuck, however, said loudly enough for everyone in the office to hear, âMs. Lockwood, this is Mr.
Winstonâs order. If you have any complaints, you can go to him. Heâs always waiting for you!â
There was a burst of whispers in the office.
What was going on?
Not everyone could enter the presidentâs office, and the fact that Mr. Winston was always waiting for someone was surprising.
What was so good about Marguerite?
She wasnât even pretty, and she had an arrogant attitude. What did Mr. Winston see in her?
Marguerite glared at Chuck.
He did it on purpose!
She tried to speak quietly to avoid gossip, but he was shouting, as though he wanted everyone to hear.
Pointing at Chuck, Marguerite said through gritted teeth, âIâll deal with you when I get back.â
With that, she stormed into the VIP elevator, heading straight for Frederickâs office.
At that moment, Frederick had just finished a therapy session and left the presidentâs office restroom.
His mood hadnât recovered, so he looked rather gloomy.
Margueriteâs arrival surprised him, and his tense expression suddenly relaxed.
But Marguerite looked unhappy, as if sheâd been wronged.
Frederick raised an eyebrow. âWhy didnât you knock?â
Marguerite replied angrily, âI did knock, but you didnât hear.â
Frederick turned around and sat down at his desk, pulling out a folder and busying himself. âSpeak up, Iâm busy.â
Yes, he was busy. He was busy having romantic moments with Yuna in the rain, and making trouble for her every day, intentionally making her colleagues misunderstand her. âI donât need those fancy foods.
Tell Chuck to stop delivering them.â
Frederick glanced at her. âAnything else?â
Marguerite blinked. âAlso, you donât have to worry about me. My injuries are healed, and I donât need to keep eating these healthy meals.â
Frederick finally put down his folder and crossed his arms, looking relaxed. âI wasnât worried about you.
I was worried about your lack of energy at work after being sick, so I asked Chuck to supervise you.â
Supervise?
So Frederick had been supervising her all along!
She thought he was genuinely caring for her, and that was why he kept asking Chuck to look after her.
Sheâd misunderstood again.
But Marguerite didnât understand how Frederick could say something as serious as âsupervisionâ so casually.
Sitting on the luxurious sofa, Robert noticed Frederickâs forced expression.
Couldnât Marguerite see Frederickâs unnatural expression?
She must be really simple-minded!
So, Robert proposed jokingly, âSince youâre so worried about Marguerite not focusing on her work, why not move her desk next to yours? You can supervise her personally. How about that?
