Chapter 424
Bride Behind The Mask
Meanwhile, in the living room.
After a round of house tour, the two little ones were sprawled out on the floor, curiously eyeing the happenings in the dining room.
Teresa propped her chubby cheeks in her hands, her expression a mixture of confusion and awe.
âWho wouldâve thought,â she mused, âthat your dad and my dad are brothers! And your mom and my mom are twins! Their relationships are so complicated!â
Hayes opened his mouth, eager to respond, but he couldnât find the words fast enough. Frustrated, he reached for his phone to type out his thoughts. âHow can you be so sure that your mom and my mom are twins?â He typed.
Teresaâs mouth twitched as she replied, âBecause they look the same, and they both have the same last name! Weâve talked about this before, even though my mom never mentioned having a twin sister, maybe⦠they are not that close?â
As Teresa rambled on, Hayes busied himself with typing on his phone again. But Teresa quickly stopped him, placing her soft hand over his screen, reminding him seriously, âLittle Mute, you need to try to throw away the tablet and phone. You canât type! You must learn to talk. Speaking slowly is okay, alright?â
Hayes blinked, his eyes flashing with determination. He carefully opened his mouth, and very slowly, spoke out his question, âCan your mom⦠be my⦠mom too?â
Teresa was taken aback by Hayesâ question. But soon, she jumped up from the floor, grabbing Hayes in an excited hug, âLittle Mute, did I hear you right? You want my mom to be your mom too?â
The little boy nodded in Teresaâs arms, muttering softly, âI like⦠her!â
Teresa was genuinely surprised. Because she never expected Hayes to like her mom as well!
Before, she was worried about how Hayes would feel if she went to reveal the truth about her dad. But now, she had no concerns at all!
Overjoyed, Teresa couldnât help but ask, âLittle Mute, why do you like my mom?â
ÙÙ Hayes blinked, caught off guard by Teresaâs question. He didnât know why he liked Marguerite, he just thought that she was really nice and incredibly kind, and being her child would surely be a blessing, right?
Hayes pushed away from Teresa, meeting her gaze with a serious and sincere question, âTeresa⦠are you happy?â
Teresa nodded enthusiastically, âOf course I am! My mom is the best mom in the world!â
Hearing Teresa praise Marguerite so highly made Hayes envious. If only he had a mom like Marguerite from the beginning, heâd be as happy as Teresa.
Feeling a bit upset, Hayes was comforted by Teresa who held his arm tightly, urging him, âIf we can get your dad and my mom together, then you can be my momâs son! Weâre living together now, itâs the perfect opportunity.â
Hayes hesitated, looking down as he asked, âIf your mom⦠marries my dad, would she⦠like me?â
Instead of answering, Teresa countered, âDoes your dad like me?â
Hayes nodded emphatically, âHe does!â
With a triumphant grin, Teresa declared, âThen my mom will definitely like you! Our mission now is to make them fall in love!â Hayesâ eyes lit up, âHow do we do it?â
Teresa leaned in close, whispering her plan into Hayesâ ear. Once she was done, she made sure to ask, âDid you understand?â
âI did!â Hayes nodded solemnly, feeling the weight of their mission on his small shoulders. But for his dadâs and his own happiness, he was ready to work with Teresa!
