Chapter 367
Bride Behind The Mask
This lady looked significantly younger than the old Lisette back at the Winston Mansion, she looked too young to be a grandma. She was so beautiful and graceful!
Teresa pondered if her own mom would age this gracefully when sheâs old.
However, Jocelyn was left dumbfounded by Teresaâs greeting of âGrandmaâ.
She squatted down to get a closer look and inexplicably found Teresa bearing some resemblance to Marguerite. Especially those brows and eyes, as if they were cut from the same cloth, almost identical..
But she was unaware that Teresa was indeed Margueriteâs daughter, a piece of information Frederick had failed to share.
âDarlinâ, have we met before?â
Teresaâs eyes widened in panic, caught off guard. Before she could come up with an explanation, Frederick had already walked into the mansion, a wry smile on his face.
âTeresa has a penchant for wrongfully addressing people. She even called me âdaddyâ once.â
Jocelynâs smile grew even warmer, the little girl in front of her was melting her heart.
âYouâre quite the character, arenât you?â
Jocelyn scooped Teresa up in one arm, and spotting Hayes standing at the doorstep, she reached out to hold his hand and said, âCome, letâs take my grandchildren to dinner!â
Once seated in the dining room, Teresa sandwiched between Manley and Hayes, she began to feel awkward.
She surveyed the delicious food spread across the table, head bowed in caution.
âTeresa, Iâve made some BBQ chicken drumsticks for you, donât be shy.â Jocelyn tapped the plate lightly with her fork.
Teresa nodded hesitantly, glancing at Yuna for approval.
Unexpectedly, their eyes met, and Yunaâs annoyance was palpable.
An intimate family dinner ruined by a complete stranger! How infuriating!
Yet seeing Teresa tread carefully, she figured nothing could go wrong.
Frederick, seated at the head of the table, couldnât help but chuckle at Teresaâs anxious demeanor, âQuite the tough cookie in front of me, but now youâre shy and quiet?â
Teresa hurriedly glanced at Yuna, nervous to the point of dropping her fork.
Frederickâs mood darkened instantly.
Teresa, who usually exuded confidence, was suddenly walking on eggshells around Yuna?
What was going on?
Seizing the opportunity to showcase her nurturing side in front of Frederick and Jocelyn, Yuna feigned concern and served Teresa a dish, âHelp yourself, Teresa. Feel at home.â
Timidly picking up her fork, Teresa quickly served a piece of BBQ pork to Manley, ingratiatingly saying, âHere, you have some too, Manley.â
Yuna was immensely pleased, âTeresa and Manley are so close. She even told me that Manley is her best friend. Isnât that right, Teresa?â
Teresa nodded nervously, âYeâ¦yesâ¦â
Hearing this, Hayes was instantly crestfallen. So, Manley was her best friend? What about him?
Knowing that Teresa loved chicken drumsticks, Hayes served one to Teresa in an attempt to win her over. But to his dismay, Teresa was too busy serving dishes to Manley.
As each new dish arrived, Teresa would serve one to Manley.
Soon, Manleyâs plate was piled high like a mountain, while Hayesâ plate remained empty.
Manley, basking in the attention, pushed his plate towards Hayes, showing off, âAll these dishes were served by Teresa. Take whatever you want.â
His mom had told him to be generous in front of his dad and grandma, thatâs how he would win their affection.
But Jocelyn, noticing Teresaâs preferential treatment towards Manley and her subtle attempts to seek Yunaâs approval, was increasingly displeased. This little girl already learned to treat people unequally at such a young age?
Seeing Hayes ignored by both Teresa and Manley, she sympathetically served him the last chicken drumstick. But the little boy, in turn, served it to Teresa.
Teresa, planning to pass it on to Manley, accidentally dropped it on the floor in the process.
As Teresa froze, she nervously glanced at Yuna, terrified, âIâm so sorry, Manleyâs mum! It was an accident! I will serve Manley properly. Iâllâ¦Iâll eat the drumstick that fellâ¦â
With that, Teresa picked up the drumstick from the floor and started eating it hurriedly.
Tears streamed down her face as she ate, a pitiful sight indeed,
