Chapter 329
Bride Behind The Mask
Teresa hopped into the car with Frederick, and Hayes, all smiles, immediately linked his arm with hers.
Although the little boy still couldnât express his joy verbally, the light in his eyes spoke volumes more than words ever could.
For the first time in three years, Frederick was witnessing such an unabashed display of happiness from Haves.
Things were looking up, and he was confident that with Teresaâs assistance, Hayes would soon start talking again.
He was, however, taken aback by Teresaâs constant gaze since they got in the car. One of her hands was held by Hayes while the other rested on her cheek, a picture of contentment. Her eyes didnât blink once.
Especially those focused eyes, that looked like they were trying to see right through him.
Teresaâs behavior amused Frederick, who found her inherently endearing.
So, he couldnât resist pinching her soft cheek and asked playfully, âIs there something on my face?â
Teresa replied with an incredibly sweet voice, âYou have a pretty face.â
This comment sent the driver and Chuck, who had been trying to hold back their laughter, into fits of giggles.
The atmosphere in the car was light, but Teresa was nursing a major question in her heart.
With her soft little hand wrapped around the manâs pinky finger, she asked seriously, âSir, have you ever had a daughter?â
Frederick smiled and replied, âNo.â
His answer made Teresa go pale, her big eyes filled with disappointment and hurt.
If Hayesâ daddy never had a daughter and her daddy Maurice didnât look like the person she had imagined, where did she come from?
Chuck, who was sitting in the passenger seat, couldnât resist the adorable little girl and decided to tease her, âLittle one, do you want to be Mr. Winstonâs daughter?â
Teresa blinked, looked at Chuck, then at Frederick. Her face turned red with shy embarrassment.
She had many questions in her mind, especially if Hayesâ daddy knew her mommy, Marguerite.
But in the end, she held back.
Soon, they arrived back at the mansion.
At that time, Yuna was in the living room playing Lego with Manley. Frederick walked in first, his brows furrowing at the mess, âWhy didnât Manley go to school this afternoon?â
His question made Yuna nervous, and she immediately explained, âManley felt unwell this afternoon, so l brought him home early.â
Unwell?
His gaze fell on Manley, who was playing enthusiastically. He didnât look unwell at all.
His gaze towards Yuna became even more piercing, but due to Teresaâs presence, he could only suppress his displeasure, âDonât let it happen again He snorted, then turned to Teresa and Hayes, his voice softer, âFeel free to play with anything in the house. Call me if you need anything. Okay?â
Teresaâs voice was soft and childish, âOkay, Hayesâ daddy Just after Teresa finished her sentence, Manley couldnât wait to run over, and along with him came Yuna.
This woman must be Hayes and Manleyâs mommy, right? Teresa tilted her head to look at her, and her brain froze She blurted out uncontrollably, âMommy?â
