Chapter 27
Bride Behind The Mask
A look of surprise clearly flashed oss Frederickâs handsome face, a slight astonishment flickered in his deepâset eyes.
He smiled, subconsciously stroked Margueriteâs soft cheek, âYouâre not Yuna, then who are you?â
âI amâ¦â
âAlright.â Frederick cut off Margueriteâs sentence before she could finish it, âYuna, Iâve already promised to marry you, I wonât break my word,â
âTherefore, you donât need to attract my attention by pulling such boring pranks.â
Marguerite was left speechless, thinking, âI didnât mean it that way! This guyâs Imagination is really something else!â
He didnât give her a chance to explain further, as company matters were waiting for him. Frederick quickly drove away. Marguerite sighed, returned to her room, put on her face mask, changed clothes, and then headed to the office.
In the afternoon, at LuxeScents International.
The sun shone brightly in the luxurious CEOâs office. Frederickâs voice was lazy, deep and pleasant like a cello, âInvestigate Yunaâs grandmotherâs whereabouts as soon as possible.â
Chuckâs hair was neatly styled by hair gel, he bowed his back slightly and replied respectfully, âYes, Mr.
Winston.â
âAlso,â Frederick suddenly thought of Marguerite. His previously flat gaze became sharper, âHave someone secretly monitor Margueriteâs computer. If there are any suspicious emails, let me know immediately.â
Chuck was initially taken aback, but quickly understood his bossâs intentions, âMr. Winston, do you suspect that Marguerite is a spy sent by a competitor?â
Frederick suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze deep as the ocean, âNot just competitors, her identity is suspicious, we must be careful.â
He had already investigated Marguerite twice, and although he had obtained some useful information, strictly speaking, he hadnât seen what he wanted to see, Marguerite was too innocent, an innocence that felt abnormal.
He couldnât believe that a woman with no scheming or blemishes could be his wife.
So, he couldnât let his guard down with Marguerite.
Chuck immediately went to check, half an hour later, he came back with a file.
âMr. Winston, I just searched Margueriteâs computer. She didnât do anything in the morning. She justâ¦
looked up some information online.â
Frederickâs eyes narrowed slightly, âWhat information?â
Chuck licked his dry lips, tentatively asked, âMr. Winston, do you need me to read it out?â
The man leaned back in the sofa, an impatient look on his face as he retorted, âOf course.â
Chuck was obviously a bit nervous, âAre⦠you sure?â
âChuck, if you waste any more time, Iâll have the accountant to settle your wages.â
Chuck was shaking all over, he didnât want to waste time, itâs just that⦠he couldnât bring himself to say it.
The things Marguerite looked up were too⦠passionate, he couldnât read them out.
But now that Frederick had spoken, he had to bite the bullet and read it out:
âMr. Winston, Marguerite searched for the following information: [Frederickâs net worth], [The acquisition price of Luxe Scents International], [The number of Frederickâs female friends], [Frederickâs female friends]â¦â
Chuckâs voice got quieter and quieter, until it was almost inaudible at the end.
He didnât have the guts like Marguerite to directly call his boss by his first name.
So, every time he called out Frederickâs name, his head would get closer to the file, until his face was completely buried in the file, daring not to Look at Frederickâs expression.
Robert couldnât help but laugh, although not loudly, it was the result of his utmost control.
The expected storm didnât come, Frederick raised an eyebrow, his voice flat, âShe spent all morning looking up this stuff?â
Chuck nodded repeatedly, âYes, she has been looking it up since she came to the office.â
âNot focusing on work!â Frederickâs voice was full of authority, but his eyes carried a hint of complex emotion.
Then, he changed the subject, âSince she has so much free time, let her come and help me with scent testing.â
Chuck wasnât sure whether his boss was genuinely angry or just pretending, but he was worried that Frederickâs mood would affect him, so he accepted the order immediately and went to find Marguerite.
Robert looked puzzled, he pointed at himself, then looked at Frederick, âFrederick, wasnât scent testing my job? Why was I replaced as soon as your wife came?â
Frederick shot him a glance, thinking about Chuckâs report, a thoughtful smile on his lips.
âWhy did she suddenly become interested in the identity of my girlfriends? Does she have other motives?â
Upon hearing this question, Robert immediately began to gossip, âDid Yuna come looking for you this morning?â
âYes.â
âDid Marguerite also see it?â
âYes.â
Robert suddenly started laughing, excitedly slapped his thigh, âHavenât you figured it out yet? Sheâs jealous!â
âJealous?â Frederick was slightly taken aback.
âWhy do I get the feeling that youâre quite happy to know sheâs jealous? Could it be you have feelings for her?â
Frederickâs gaze flickered, he didnât respond.
Then, Robert suddenly looked at him with a scrutinizing gaze, asking, âAre you falling for her?
Frederick, are you willing to admit it?â
