Chapter 139
Bride Behind The Mask
It was already the next morning when Marguerite got the news that Polar Radiance perfume was completely off the shelves.
She was torn about going to work, but reality already made the choice for her.
Frederick had previously made such a fuss about launching Polar Radiance, but now heâd pulled it completely. Marguerite understood that this was his way of showing his attitude.
When he wanted to support her, she could be a shining star, admired by everyone.
But if he got mad, she was nothing, humble as dust.
She was probably already fired from LuxeScents International.
Annoyed, Marguerite shut off her phoneâs trending page, took a sip of soup, and Miley sighed across from her.
âPolar Radiance perfume was pulled off the shelves overnight, they mustâve lost a fortune! Consumers are complaining too, theyâve been waiting for this perfume for half a month, and now itâs just taken off.
Frederickâs really throwing money away!â
Marguerite listened to Mileyâs words, but didnât respond.
âMarguerite, if this perfume had successfully launched, youâd be LuxeScents Internationalâs top perfumer! With that position, youâd be raking in at least a hundred grand a year! Itâs all because of that Yuna. If it wasnât for her sabotage, how could you lose such a golden opportunity? Itâs infuriating!â
âWhatâs the point of blaming her? Whatâs done is done.â
Miley stared at Marguerite, her face full of disappointment.
âNo way! Sheâs hurt you again and again, even spilling the beans about your pregnancy, and youâre just gonna let it slide?â
Marguerite put down her spoon, and asked seriously. âWhat do you suggest I do?â
Miley said excitedly.
âTell Frederick! It was Yuna who leaked it!â
âYou might not know how much Frederick dotes on Yuna. He knows what sheâs done to me, but heâs always forgiven her. To Frederick, Yuna has privileges. And whatâs the point of telling him? It wonât change the fact that the baby in my belly isnât his. Weâre never getting back together.â
Saying this, Marguerite felt a sudden sting in her heart, as if pricked by a needle.
âWhat will you do next?â
Marguerite looked calm.
âFirst, get a job, I canât keep living off you. My grandma still lives at the manor, and Iâll have to take care of her in the future. I want to give her a good life, and that needs money. Then, Iâll keep investigating who the father of the child is. Heâs ruined me, I wonât let him off!â
Miley puffed her cheeks, saying firmly, âAlright! After breakfast, you go job hunting, and Iâll keep investigating!â
It was graduation season, and the annual job fair was being held in Stonebridge City.
Marguerite printed a stack of resumes, read o try her luck at the job fair.
The job fair was packed with excellent talents, including many overseas returnees. Companies had too many candidates to choose from, who would notice Marguerite who didnât even have a degree?
Some companies even directly tossed Margueriteâs resume into the trash, disdainfully saying, âYou dare to come to our job fair without a degree? What a waste of time! You should go wash dishes at Promenade Plaza!â
Marguerite was hit hard, desperate to make money she really went to Promenade Plaza.
There were plenty of tourists there, always short of hands, always in need of servers and dishwashers.
Yet strangely enough, she walked the whole street, but not a single store wanted to hire her.
By then, the sun was setting, and the sky was filled with a magnificent sunset.
After a whole day of hustle without any gains, Marguerite fell into unprecedented selfâdoubt.
Was she really that bad?
Marguerite cleaned her sweat, took a break under a big tree, but as soon as she looked up, she saw a familiar and displeasing figure approaching her.
âHey, Marguerite, shouldnât you be at home? Since youâre pregnant, what are you doing here?â Yuna crossed her arms, her gaze full of provocation.
