--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapter 7

I finished my breakfast and went to the living room, looking out through the windows. It was a beautiful day. Almost everyone were outside, mostly kids. Suddenly, out of nowhere, came Leo and Theo, scaring the hell out of me as they jumped in front of the window from outside. I laughed after my heart almost jumped out and went to the front door to open.

“You guys are idiots,” I said, laughing.

“Always have,” Leo said.

“Always will,” Theo finished.

These twins, I thought, shaking my head in amusement.

“So, what’s up today?” I asked as we all entered the living room and sat down.

“Not much. We’re going into town to watch a movie or something. Want to join?” Theo asked. I shook my head.

“No, but thanks. I’m going to take it easy today. Where are your brothers?”

“Right here!”

I watched in surprise as Mason, Jacob, Caleb and Tresh all walked in with smiles and sat down. They managed to make some room for everyone and I laughed at the situation.

“Hello guys,” I said, laughing. “Nice of you to visit.”

“We’re bored,” Jacob said, chuckling. “You were the first thing we thought of.”

“Oh shut up,” I mumbled. “None of you have plans today?”

“I do,” Mason said. “I’m going to Hayley’s today. I’m going to stay there one or two days. These two,” he pointed at the twins,” are going to the movies and hopefully won’t come home too late. The rest are staying I guess.”

“No, I’m out somewhere, too,” Jacob said, frowning. “But-“

“You have no friends,” I said quickly, all of us laughing. “I know. It’s sad.”

“Of course you know how it feels. You don’t have any friends either.”

“I wonder what you all are doing in my house,” I said, looking around thoughtfully. Jacob chuckled and threw a pillow at me. I grinned.

We hung out at my place for an hour, all of us, and then they left. Caleb and Tresh were going to stay home, Jacob called some friends and went out, the twins did the same and Mason left to his mate. But before he left, he came back to my place. I opened the front door after the knock.

“What’s up?” I asked.

“I forgot to ask,” he said. “It’s about Noah. Nothing’s going on, right? Tell me he’s not making your life hell again? I’m going to break his bones.”

“No, no,” I said, chuckling. “We’re fine, trust me. Some issues still but we’re fine. We’re older now, we can handle it.”

“Not Noah. He’s like a little kid, that idiot. I don’t know what his problem is, still ‘til today.” Mason rolled his eyes.

“Don’t worry, it’s just a phase. He won’t be like this forever, you know. He’ll find his mate, get his Alpha position and it’s done. He’ll behave.”

“I hope you’re right,” Mason said. “Oh well. I’m gonna go. I’ll see you later, Sam.”

I hugged him bye.

“Yeah, have fun.”

I shut the door and threw myself on the couch. I had never really thought about why the Alpha Blood gene never went to Mason. It made sense for him to have it; he was the oldest, the most mature and so on. Noah was the opposite. He had “fuck rules” stamped on his forehead. No, more like, “fuck everything.”

Wait a second… Now I remember.  My father had explained it to me once. Mason had turned down the Alpha position and because Uncle John hade seven sons, it was possible for Mason, first born, to pass it down to the next one. Noah could pass it on to Jacob if he wanted to, but he hadn’t, so maybe he wanted to be Alpha? I didn’t know about what he wanted, but I could guess that he didn’t want anything to do with all this. Maybe he figured that he’ll get better in the future or something.

And it hurt my head to think so much about it. I had to get Noah and all the Noah related stuff out of my head. I put the TV on and watched something even though I didn’t want to. I kept staring out the window and at first, didn’t realize that the guy and the girl sitting together on one chair, she on his lap, were Noah and a new girl. I didn’t expect it to be that Nicole girl; I just couldn’t believe that I had been staring for almost five minutes without realizing who it was. I knew I thought too much.

I almost laughed as I watched them; Noah was sitting on the plastic chair, all relaxed and bored looking while the blonde girl on his lap was giggling hysterically and throwing herself at him even more. He kept saying just a few words. His face looked as if it was made by stone.

I looked down at the TV but soon enough, my eyes went back to him. I kind of felt sorry for his mate; I mean, he was laying around with every girl in town or “out town”. If his mate was the same now, when she is mateless, then fine, they deserve each other but if his mate was a virgin and all that, it wasn’t fair. He should be looking around for her, not sexing around. I sighed. Why I cared so much, I didn’t know. I just liked to think a lot.

Suddenly covering Noah and his girl, Arianna popped up outside the window, knocking.

As soon as I saw her, I laughed; her face told me everything I needed to know: annoyed, disgusted, angry. I pointed for her to go to the front door and five seconds later, she was in. She glared out the window as she sat down next to me, feet up.

“You know what? He needs a punch in the face,” she said, shaking her head, frustrated.

“I know,” I agreed, looking out. “I don’t think that’ll help, though. Do you?”

“Of course not.”

I chuckled. It was amazing how one person could piss off so many. And we were more than fifty werewolves on these fields. I turned to Ari.

“So, what’s up?” I asked.

“Not much,” she said, turning to me, too. “There’s not much to do here. Now at least you’re here and I can spend my time with you. Before, I had absolutely nothing to do. I think the Blacks and Willa got sick and tired of me.”

“No they didn’t,” I said, chuckling. “They love you. We all love each other. Even Noah,” I added, laughing at her face. She threw a pillow at me lightly.

“His mate will kill herself.”

“Probably.” I shrugged. “I was just thinking that I feel sorry for her.”

“I hope it’s a he,” Arianna muttered. I laughed again. She was a true hater. I don’t think anything could make her like Noah the slightest. Even if he would change and be nice, she’d suspect something was off. But she was careful and cautious; it’s good.

“It’s not a he, Ari” I said, amused “I just feel sorry.”

“Me too. Anyways. Where is your dad?”

“Right! I was going to tell you. He and Uncle John went to those new werewolves, to see what they want. I guess we’ll know later today.”

“Are you serious? Gosh, I hope everything goes alright. You never know with new werewolves in town. Did you hear stories about what happens when new werewolves come to a town that already has a pack?”

I nodded.

“Disaster,” I said. “But it’ll be fine. I can feel it.”

Arianna laughed, throwing another pillow at me, harder this time.

“You can’t feel anything,” she said, laughing. I gaped at her and threw back the two pillows, hitting her face both times. She just kept on laughing. I glanced out the window again and this time, I scrunched up my face.

“Are they serious?!” I said. “Making out in front of everyone? All the elders can see him!”

“Oh my gosh,” Arianna said, shaking her head. “I want to kill him. Right now. I’m going to tell him to go eat his Blondie somewhere else.”

Arianna got up and I followed. I thought about stopping her but then, why? She had every right to tell him to leave. And it was disrespectful of him. Arianna flung the front door open, went down the porch stairs and placed her hands on her hips as she began.

“Noah Black!” she yelled, squinting from the sun. “Do you not have a brain? There are old and young people living right here and you sit there with your new toy and make out like animals!”

I followed her as she walked even closer to them. I wanted to burst out laughing but I just crossed my arms and watched as Blondie’s face turned scared and Noah glared.

“I do whatever I want to do, little one,” he said. Arianna gaped; she hated when people called her short because even though she was, she felt she didn’t need to be reminded. And I agreed.

“Listen,” she said, anger clear in her voice. I wanted to laugh so bad, oh my God. “You should be ashamed, sitting here, in front of your father’s house, who is in fact and Alpha and Uncle Bill, who is an Alpha as well!”

“I’ll be the next Alpha anyways,” he replied. Arianna’s nostrils flared and just as she was going to say something, I took her arm and pulled her back, shaking my head at her surprised look.

“Don’t,” I mumbled. “It’s not going to help and you’re just ruining your own day. Come on.”

As she shot Noah a glare and he smirked at her, I couldn’t help but think about the fact that he had not looked at me once since we came out; he had only glanced, quickly looking away.

I shook my head and I let it go as Arianna let me drag her back to the house. She huffed as she sat back down on the couch, shaking her head at the picture outside the window. I chuckled, taking my seat.

“Don’t get too worked up about it,” I said. “Noah is Noah. Leave it at that, it’s him who gets all the bad talk anyway, not us.”

“You’re right. I’m helping him by telling him to stop. Let everyone talk about the stupid ass.”

I chuckled, nodding.

“Exactly.”

Later that day, when it was the sunset set it, my father came home, looking well. I smiled, leaning sideways on the doorway to the living room.

“How did it go?” I asked. He nodded.

“Really good, actually. We’re going to have a meeting now with all the elders and talk about letting them join our pack.”

“Join the pack? Really?”

“Yeah. They said that they were such a small pack of ten werewolves that they were scared to go somewhere else. Apparently, they had heard good things about us and decided to come here and check it out before asking us if they could join.”

“And what do you think?” I asked as he got ready to leave again.

“I think it’s good that they took it slowly and all that. I don’t mind if they join the pack, we’ll get more werewolves and they’ll be less scared. It’s a win-win situation, don’t you think?”

“Yeah, you’re right. Well, good luck at the meeting then,” I said, going upstairs.

“Actually,” my father’s voice said and I stopped, turning around. “You and Noah are coming with.”

“…Why?”

“Well, since you guys are going to be the next Alpha’s, you should be there too and decide with us. After all, you two will lead the pack and it’s important that you know who comes in and that you guys approve as well. Do you mind?” he asked, looking as if I was going to yell at him like a mother yells at her son.

It made sense, what he said. We were the future Alpha’s and so we should be there. And why not? It’s probably better to actually attend these things so we can know more about how things are being handled once we become Alpha’s.

“No I don’t mind. You’re right,” I said, smiling. “It makes sense.”

My dad looked relieved and ruffled my hair lightly.

“Thank you,” he said. “I’ll go see how Noah is taking the news. I’ll meet you outside.”

“Okay,” I said, nodding.

I went upstairs to my room, put on my Converse shoes, a grey sweatshirt to my black skinny jeans and my biker jacket over, leaving it open. I put my hair up in a messy – but nice, of course. Wouldn’t want to look like I just woke up – bun, with a few strands down, just because I wanted to be comfortable, and left.
