Chapter 28
We were lying on my closet floor, naked and under the pile of clothes we had managed to take down. Noah was lying on his back and I was on my stomach, half of me on his chest and the rest on the floor. I did circles with my finger on his chest, loving the way it felt when he dragged his own fingers up and down on my back.
âDo you remember that night you had with Tyler?â Noah asked, amused. âYour âdate nightâ?â
Oh I remember, alright. I nodded, glaring at him amusingly.
âHow can I forget? You were there with your nasty comments and all.â
âHe was just so funny, trying to act all tough.â
âAt least he didn't just sit there like a pussy,â I muttered glaringly. Noah grinned with his eyebrows up at my last word. I continued. âIf we wouldn't be mates, I would still be mad at you for that. You ruined my date and you hit on me.â
âHit on you? Please, I was just acknowledging the sexual tension between us,â he defended. âAnd, why on earth would you still be mad at me? It's not like you liked him anyway. Right?â
âNo I didn't like him, Noah. But you obviously knew about the things that were happening between us, you were playing with me.â
âWell, I'm just sayin',â he said. âIf I hadn't interrupted you, you would've probably become his girlfriend and we would go back to ignoring each other and we probably wouldn't be laying here.â
âI think we would've found out we were mates sooner or later. Plus, how could I ignore you after you had kissed me?! Why did you kiss me, Noah?â I asked with a smirk. âI mean, now that we're mates, you can tell me. Right?â I mimicked.
âI don't know why I kissed you. I was stupid, I was horny and I just felt like it.â
I glared at him, for real this time.
âSeriously? Stupid and horny and âjust felt like it?â Please, we both know that's not true.â
âWhy wouldn't it be true?â
âYou just said it yourself! We had sexual tension. Why is it so hard for you to admit?â
âIt's not hard for me to admit, Samantha, I'm telling you the truth!â he snapped, getting up. I looked up at him, shocked by his sudden outburst.
âI... I'm sorry, I was just joking around,â I mumbled, still shocked and confused as to why he reacted that way. Did he actually take it so personally? I was joking for Christ's sake!
âWhatever,â he muttered, putting his clothes back on. âI'll see you later.â
âNoah, are you seriously mad right now? What is wrong with you?â I asked, dumbfounded, as I stood up, covering my body with my clothes. I quickly pulled one of Noah's old big tshirts and ran after him as he quickly walked out of my room. I followed him down.
âNoah!â
âWhat?! What do you want from me?!â he yelled suddenly, turning around as he held the front door open, ready to leave. What...? What had I possibly done to make him this riled up? I felt bad for something I didn't know I had even done. He looked at me one last time before turning around and walking out, back to his house.
I just stood there, mouth open at his behavior, not knowing what to say or do. I watched him slam the front door of his house shut after walking in and I stared off.
Okay... That was officially weird and shocking and hurting, if I have to admit it. I looked up when I saw two figures moving towards me. It was Arianna and Aaron, her mate. There was one I hadn't seen in a while. I smiled, despite feeling like crying in frustration right now.
âHey you guys. Hey, Aaron, how are you doing?â I asked, pushing Noah away for now.
âHey, Sam, it's all good. How 'bout you?â
âWhat just happened with you and Noah?â Arianna asked, frowning. Ugh, so much for pushing him away. I ignored her and smiled at Aaron.
âI am great, Aaron! Hi Arianna, how are you this fine evening?â Okay, so I was over doing it. But I felt annoyed that she would just come straight out with it. Couldn't she sit down with me and ask me like a normal person. She didn't even say hi.
Okay, Samantha, relax. She's done nothing wrong, you're overreacting.
Right, okay.
I can't believe I'm talking to myself right now. How weird am-
âSam,â Arianna said in a warning tone. âWhat happened? I could hear you all the way up to my room.â
I sighed, shrugging.
âHonestly? No idea. I swear, one second he was laughing and making fun of a memory and the next he's marching out of the house, snapping at me! I don't even know what I said or did! We were fine just a few seconds ago!â
âOkay, breathe, just calm down,â she said, and I realized that I had been talking really fast.
âAnd did I tell you about what's going on with us? We're freaking horny all the time and that's putting it mildly. I want to jump him every time I'm close to him and he wants to, and I quote, rip my clothes off and eat me up every time he sees me! This is so weird, these two days we've been so weird and hormonal and-â
âSam.â
âYes. Sorry.â
âIt might be your mating still in progress. That can explain the hormonal part and the angry part. And the fact that he's probably really upset about his father. So mixing this together, you get that, what just happened.â
âOh my God.. you're right. I'm so stupid, I didn't even think! Of course he's extra emotional... and adding this mating progress on, he's extra emotional. God, I feel so stupid.â
Arianna was one hundred percent right and Aaron seemed to agree with her. I felt so bad now. And it was suddenly raining as well. Well, the weather was matching my mood. Kind of. Maybe it was matching Noah's more. I had to do something, though. Tonight, now.
âShould I go?â I asked, unsure. Arianna was an expert when it came to these things, she knew when it was too fast or too late, all those things. The girl had magazines stuffed in her face all day, she knew pretty much everything.
Arianna and Aaron nodded.
âGo.â
I nodded, slipped on my flip-flops that were by the door and as they went back to Arianna's house, I hurried over to Noah's, muttering over the rain that had now got me soaked, even though it took me like five seconds to walk over to his house from mine. It was pouring outside. I opened the door and walked in, waving at the brothers in the living room. Their weird looks stopped me from going further and I frowned.
âWhat?â I asked.
âLooking a little... under dressed,â Mason commented. I looked down and immediately blushed, a laugh escaping my lips. I was still in just a big tshirt that was Noah's. Great, soaked and half naked.
âI'm sorry,â I said, chuckling. âI was in a hurry.â
âYeah, I bet. Noah was furious,â Theo said, grinning.
âMarched all the way to his room like a freaking soldier,â Leo added, both of them sniggering. Mason shot the borh a glare, gave me a sympathetic smile and I took a deep breath. So he was furious. Great.
âLater, guys,â I mumbled as I walked up the stairs and to Noah. I knocked on his door but I got no answer so I just walked in. He was sitting on his bed, resting his elbows on his knees as he was staring straight ahead, jaw clenched. Maybe I should go?
No, Samantha, he's your mate. No awkwardness, no fighting, just apologize and fix it.
I shut the door behind me and felt like an awkward ten year old, just waiting for him to say something or acknowledge me. But he didn't so I slowly walked over to his bed, sitting down next to him.
âI'm stupid,â I said. âI didn't even think about the fact that you have so much on your mind right now. Your dad and then this mating thing is making us crazy and hormonal. I feel really bad and I'm sorry. I just wanted to... um... say that... so.â
I got up, seeing as he wasn't going to respond, and walked to his door. I felt like crying; he was so mad at me. Why did I always screw things up and always made people worried or mad or annoyed? Seriously, if you think about it, that's all I do. I do things I shouldn't do, all the time. It's so weird, now that I think about it. I've always known I'm a trouble maker and a trouble magnet, but still.
I opened the door, ready to walk out when I was pulled back straight into his chest. He pressed his lips against mine with force, holding my face in his hands. It took me a second or two to not be surprised and then I kissed him back, putting my hands on his waist. He pulled back, his eyes taking in my face.
âI'm sorry,â he breathed, panic in his eyes. âI'm so so sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you like that and to scare you like that. I'm really sorry. I just, I snapped, I don't know why. I just... it just happened.â
He kissed me on my forehead and then on my lips several times.
âI'm sorry baby,â he said between kisses. I pulled back from him.
âNoah!â I said, laughing a little. âIt's fine, we're fine. It's all good, I'm not mad at you. Everyone has some kind of problem sometime.â
âI know but this was unnecessary,â he said. âI shouldn't have taken it out on you. You've done nothing wrong.â
I chuckled and gave him a kiss. Then he stepped back and looked at me and my outfit. I sighed.
âDon't ask,â I muttered. âI forgot.â
âWell, I'm glad you forgot,â he said, smirking as he came back to me. He lifted me up and I locked my legs around his waist, grinning.
âI bet you are.â
âDid you know that your legs are my number one weakness?â he breathed, his breath on my neck. My body was starting to burn with desire. I only nodded, staring at his lips.
âAnd the good thing,â he whispered huskily, âis that they are just mine.â
I blinked, opening my eyes to the familiar room that belonged to Noah. I stifled a yawn as I stretched my arms, my fist hitting something soft. I looked to my left with wide eyes. Oops.
Noah's eyes fluttered open, his hand going up to his cheek. He blinked a few times, his eyes landing on mine. I layed there quiet, hoping that he hadn't really felt my punch.
âGood morning,â he said in his husky morning voice. I smiled. Good, he hadn't noticed anything. âDid you just punch me?â
Okay, screw that, he had noticed. I smiled sheepishly and innocently, trying to hold my laughter.
âWell, um... I might've accidentally punched you while stretching my arms...â
Noah looked at me a few seconds and suddenly burst into laughter.
âOh man,â he said, shaking his head. âIf anyone manages to punch someone while stretching their arms it's you.â
I shrugged with a grin.
âEh, what can I do? I'm just that clumsy.â
âAnd I love my clumsy girl,â he whispered, giving me a quick kiss. âBut I'm going to continue my sleep now.â
I chuckled. âYou do that. Sorry, Noah.â
He shut his eyes, smiling and I yawned again. I got up from the bed, on my way to the bathroom when I screamed.
âWhat, what happened?!â
Noah jumped out of the bed, panic on his face. I then realized what I had just screamed at and I fell to the floor, laughing my eyes out. I clutched my stomach as tears rolled down my cheeks from laughing. I looked up, saw Noah standing there with a confused look and laughed even more.
This was just unbelievable. I was so stupid.
âI think... I'm going... out... of my mind,â I said between laughter. I tried to calm down, taking deep breaths. I stood up, holding the bubbling laughter inside of me. âI'm sorry. You can go back to bed.â
âWhy did you scream?â Noah asked, looking at me suspiciously.
âUm.. Nothing really... Just... Ugh, fine.â I glared at him and slumped my shoulders in defeat. âI screamed at my reflection in the mirror. And no, it wasn't intentionally.â
Noah's face was serious for a very long minute, then it was his turn to laugh his eyes out. I just glared at him, watching how he fell down on the bed, his entire body shaking. Though I must say, he was only wearing a pair of sweats and I enjoyed my view. But he was laughing at me. Not cool.
âYeah, yeah,â I muttered, waving my hand at him. âLaugh as much as you want. I was actually scared.â
I left him there and walked out to the bathroom, freshening up. I made sure this time that I didn't look like a mess so that I wouldn't accidentally âscare myselfâ again. I was a nuthead, screaming at my own reflection. I mean who does that? Only Samantha Riley.
I walked back to Noah's bedroom and found him back under the covers. He was smiling at me and I went back to glaring.
âI looked like a freaking monster!â I defended myself. âI just walked right by it and freaked out.â
Noah laughed again, though not as crazy as before.
âDoes it help if I say that I think you're beautiful whether you look like a freaking monster or not?â he asked with a smile. I stopped the smile that was coming and instead shot him a playful glare. He always knew what to say.
âMaybe. I don't know. We'll see by the end of the day.â
I huffed and head high, walked out from his room.
I was halfway down the stairs when I realized that I was about to go down in only a big tshirt again. I sighed and ran back to Noah's room. He started laughing.
âWhy didn't you just tell me?â I muttered, walking into his closet. I put on a new pair of his basketball shorts that I loved and walked out, flipping him off.
âI love you, too!â he called after me, still laughing.
I smiled on my way back home, rolling my eyes at my nuthead of a mate.
I unlocked the front door and walked in to my dark home. My dad, and I for that matter, had been staying at the Black's house these days while waiting for Uncle J to recover, so we only came here to freshen up or when we needed to take something.
I locked the door behind me and walked up the stairs to my room, not bothering to turn on the lights. I was going to shower and change and go straight back to Noah anyways.
I walked in to my room, turning on the lights and walked straight to my closet, yawning. I smiled, loving how it felt everytime I woke up next to Noah. I opened my closet doors and pulled off his big tshirt over my head, throwing it on the floor.
I walked further in to my walk in closet, turning to my tops. Just as I turned, though, something to my left caught my eye. I turned around and froze, my heart almost jumping out of my chest.
