What's That Supposed To Mean? - Werewolf Romance
Chapter 27
âGood day, who am I speaking to?â a male voice asked.
âThis is Samantha Riley. Who is this?â
âYou are Billy Riley's daughter?â
âYes.â
âWell, I am calling to update you on Mr. Black.â My heart started to beat faster and faster. The Black brothers and my father were all staring at me, waiting. âMr Black's health has been changing. I am very glad to say that he is getting better, and fast as well. I don't want to make any assumptions but he is recovering as we speak.â
I let out a breath of relief, a thankful smile on my face. I felt my eyes watering.
âThank you, Doctor. Are we allowed to visit?â
âAbsolutely, visiting hours end at six o'clock.â
âThank you.â
I put down the phone and smiled at the brothers. Their faces changed immediately.
âHe's recovering,â I said, smiling. They all let out breaths of relief together and smiled at each other. Mason rubbed his face.
âOkay, we're going. Everyone get ready, we're leaving in twenty.â
Everyone walked away to their rooms and Noah and I stood there. I smiled at him and he just shut his eyes, a serene look on his face. My heart was beating happily for him; I could see how much this whole thing had affected him. I walked over to him and put my arms around him.
âHe's going to be alright, Noah,â I said. His arms made their way around my waist and he nodded against my shoulder.
âI am so relieved,â he said, chuckling. I nodded.
âI know.â I pulled back, his face in my hands. âI'm gonna go home and get dressed, I'll be back in ten.â
âNo, I'll go with you,â he said, taking my hand.
âI'll be right back!! I'm going home to get ready!â I called out to whoever was listening and walked out with Noah. We went over to my house and up to my room.
He sat down on my bed while I walked over to my closet and looked for clothes.
I brought out a pair of black skinny jeans and a marine blue tshirt, just casual and comfortable. I undressed in front of him, smiling as I stood there in my underwear. Noah looked me up and down and before I knew it, he was pressing me against the wall, breathing hard.
âI want you right now,â he growled huskily.
Don't ask me but my body reacted before my mind and before I knew it, we were on the floor, fully mating.
Thirty minutes later.
âHurry up!â Noah said, looking out the window as he hurried to button his jeans and put his tshirt back on. Mason was honking like crazy, shouting for us to get down already. I shot Noah a glare as I hurried to pull on my jeans and my top.
âIt's not my fault that you just attacked me like that!â I said as I ran around my room, putting my hair up in a messy but good-looking bun. I pulled on my shoes, stressing so much that I stumbled and fell on my ass. Noah started to laugh, clutching his stomach.
I glared at him as I got back up, doing my shoelaces. Mason honked again and I jumped, running around looking for my phone.
âNOAH! Where is my phone!â
âI don't know!â he said, looking around frantically. âDo you need it now!?'â
âYes I need it now you sex-crazed idiot! This is totally your fault!â
âWhat? It's not my fault that you gave in and started molesting me!â
I gaped at him in shock but relief flooded through my body the same second as I found my phone under some clothes that I had unintentionally pulled down during our little moment. I threw myself at it, picked it up and couldn't help but laughing at this whole situation, Noah and I running around in my room like freaks as Mason was honking the life out of that poor car.
âI FOUND IT!â I cried. âLet's go!â
Noah and I ran out of my room and down the stairs, stumbling over each other as we hurried out of the front door. We almost fell but luckily he managed to hold us both up.
âNoah!â I shouted. âStop running on me!â
âI'm not running on you, I'm running beside you!â he cried back as I locked the door. Mason was still honking, even though we were out now and just a few feet away. We ran over to the car and stumbled again. This time, though, we fell down on the soft grass, me on top of him.
I could hear the loud laughter that was coming from the Black brothers in the car, even Mason. Idiot; he was just playing us with that honking. I glared at Noah and he just laughed.
âAt least I didn't get dirty,â I said, grinning as I jumped up. He realized that and his eyes turned wide as he was frantically dancing around, trying to look at the back of his shirt and jeans. I laughed at him, so hard that my eyes filled with tears.
âIt's not funny,â he muttered as he hurried over to the car.
âYeah it is,â I said, grinning. He smacked me on my ass and I shot him a glare.
âThat's funny,â he said, smirking as we got in the car. As soon as we got in, they all glared at us. Wait, when did Mason get a van?
âWhy did it take such a long time for you two?!â Mason scolded. I blushed and Noah started laughing.
âJust drive already,â he said, winking. Mason, his face expression turning to realization, screwed his nose up in disgust.
âEw, you're such animals,â he muttered as he started the engine and drove off.
Noah and I laughed but that laughter faded when the twins grinned at us evilly. Oh no, they were going to kill me with their comments now. I sighed, preparing for their teasing. Thank God my father was driving his own car.
The entire ride to the hospital, the twins had been torturing me with comments and jokes. Noah kept flipping them off, giving them glares but they didn't care as they knew that their brother wouldn't do anything else. Finally, they shut up when we arrived to the hospital and the tension and worry took over once again.
We all walked quietly over to the reception desk, Noah holding my hand. My father asked if John Black had changed room, the nurse said no and led us to room 102.
âIt's better if you go in two groups,â the nurse said politely and walked away. The first ones to go was Mason, Tresh, Caleb and my father. The rest of us waited in the waiting room and I smiled at Noah. Ten minutes later, they came out and it was our turn.
âI'll wait here...â Noah told his brothers. âI want to.. go alone.â
They nodded, understanding and walked off.
âDo you want me to go with you or should I go now?â I asked quietly, looking at his face. He shook his head.
âNo, go with me.â
I nodded, resting my head on his shoulder as we waited. I wanted to wrap my arms around him all the time, to tell him I love you every second and to just be close to him. I don't know, there was this strange thing in my heart, a strong urge to just stay close to my mate all the time and show him how much I loved him.
Another ten minutes later, the others came out and I stood up with Noah. Both groups had come out quiet but not sadder. It was safe to say that Uncle John was recovering. I hoped he would come back soon. I was putting off all my feelings and emotions about this for Noah, my father and the rest of the brothers just because I knew that this was hard for them. Sure, it was hard for me to, the man was a second father to me, but I didn't need them to see me weak, I wanted to make sure that everything was in place and that I helped them as much as I could while going through this.
I followed Noah hand in hand into the bright room. It was a little darker in here but there was a wall lamp next to Uncle John's bed, lighting up the room enough for him. But he was laying there, pale and his eyes shut. My heart clenched at the sight and I felt Noah unconsiously squeeze my hand as we walked closer.
Noah sat down on the chair next to the bed and looked at his father, taking a deep breath. I couldn't help it; my eyes were tearing up and soon silent tears were slowly running down my cheeks.
This was horrible. I also got thoughts about what if this was my father? These kind of situations made you think about your other close ones and how it would feel if it had happened to them. But it hadn't. It was Uncle John who was the victim here and I felt like sobbing both for me and for his family.
I stood behind Noah, my hands on his shoulders as he leaned closer to his fathers sleeping body. He opened his mouth but nothing came out. I stepped to his side and took his hand in mine again. He couldn't do it, not yet, I could see it on his face. He just looked at me, his eyes sad and defeated. I gave him a reassuring smile.
âHey, Uncle J,â I said in a low voice. âIt's Noah and Samantha, we've come to visit you. We're missing you in the house. Your jokes and that turning gray hair of yours.â I smiled, remembering the moments when I always teased him about getting older and he always had a comeback.
âAnyways. We have some news to tell you. I'm not saying whether it's good or not, you'll just have to hear for yourself so hurry up and get back, Uncle J. And don't worry, I am taking care of your boys for you. We love you.â
I looked at Noah. He was gazing at me with a small smile.
âDo you want to say something?â I asked. He just shook his head, the smile gone. I nodded and turned back. âAlrightie, Uncle J, we're gonna go now. Don't think we're not coming back. I'll be here every day to make sure you are coming back to us, old man. Bye for now.â
Noah stood up and we walked out. He didn't go back to the waiting room, though, instead he went towards the other direction, stopped a few feet away and leaned back against the wall, shutting his eyes.
âI couldn't even speak,â he said, a sad laughter coming out of him. He opened his eyes and looked at me. âWhat is wrong with me?â
âNoah,â I said, shaking my head. âThere is absolutely nothing wrong with you and it is completely normal what just happened. Some people can't even go inside the room. Don't beat yourself up, okay? You'll come to it.â
âThanks for talking to him,â he said, smiling. âYou always know what to say.â
I grinned. âI'm Samantha Riley, aren't I?â
My phone started buzzing in my pocket and I pulled it out, reading that I had a text. It was from Arianna, asking how Uncle John was and what had exactly happened. I told her that we were at the hospital and that he was slowly recovering. I added a little details about what had happened when they were on their way home and that Uncle John had collapsed.
Noah waited paitently by my side with a small smile on his face. I put the phone back in my pocket and looked up at him suspiciously.
âWhat?â
âNothing. I'm just thinking about what we did earlier today in your closet... and how I want to repeat it.â
âOh really?â I asked with a flirty voice. Then I frowned. âThere we go again! Noah, we're in a hospital, no naughty talk.â
He smirked.
âHow about naughty thoughts then? Cause I can't stop my mind from thinking what it's thinking.â
âWell, that I can't control,â I said, grinning. âBut I can promise you one thing.â
âWhat?â he asked in husky voice, his eyes on my lips.
âI am going to rock my closet floor tonight.â
