6// ~Invitation~

I wake the next morning, pushing the comforting adorning my body off of me and sit up. Placing tootsie safely against the pillows, I make my way to the bathroom, brushing my teeth and hair, and of course tinkling hehe.

When I'm all done with my morning routine I leave the bathroom and hop down the stairs, looking down at the steps as I do so, making sure I don't trip and fall cause that would hurt so bad. Imagine I fell down all the stairs, yikes!

"Hey Grammy!" I say rather loudly, bounding up to her and wrapping my arms around her, pulling her in for a morning hug.

"Hey pumpkin, you sleep well?" I nod my head and she goes on. "That's good, I made you some breakfast if you want." She informs me.

I look at the counter and just now see the plate of scrambled eggs, sprinkled with salt and pepper, and a bowl mixed with an assortment of fruits next to it. Mmhhh, yummy, I love fruit! It's healthy PLUS it tastes so good like candy!

"Ooouu thank you!" I sit down at the counter and begin to eat my breakfast, swinging my legs back and forth. Grammy leaves the kitchen, probably going to the living room to start one of her 'activities' for the day. She tends to rotate between reading, crocheting, sometimes gardening.

About half an hour later I was all fished with my breakfast. Picking up my plate I bring it to the sink and wash it before placing the clean dishes in their respective places away in the cabinets and drawers.

I start to make my way out of the kitchen when I hear Grammys voice from fine living room. "Don't forget to take your medicine." Ugh, my medicine. I don't like taking it. Not because it makes me feel weird, I guess just cause I wish I didn't have to. It's every single day, it's exhausting...even though it only takes a minute. Sometimes it feels like it gets stuck in my throat though and it's hard to swallow, bleh! Why can't they make it in chocolate form?

I grab a pill out of the bottle and fill up a class of water using the sink. Taking a sip of the water, I place the pill into my mouth and take one more sip, swallowing it all at once. Done, thank goodness!

Placing the cup back in the cabinet after cleaning it and putting the medicine back in the cabinet, I close the door and go to make my way upstairs. "I'm gonna go read for a little bit Grammy!" I say to her as I pass the living room on my way to the stairs.

"Alright honey." She replies.

Entering my room I plop down on the bed and get comfy under my blankie, with tootsies under my arm, of course.

I pick my book up off of the night stand that lays beside my bed and open up to the place that had been saved by my bookmark. I made it myself. I cut up long vertical pieces of paper and used my colors pencils to make pretty flower designs. Now I have so many different ones to choose from!

Laying back in the bed I begin to read. Sometimes I have to put the book down after a while cause it hurts my head to figure out the words when they get super confusing. A lot of the time they move all around the page like works hehehe. I bring my hand up to my mouth thinking about little worms wiggling around on the page.

It's okay though that that happens. I try my best to figure out the words and most times I can do it. When I do figure out the words it's...magical. It's like I get to live a hundred different lives. Experience things I would never get to in real life. I've gotten to live in the future, have so many friends, and fight in wars, and it's all happened in the walls of my room. That's why I think it's worth it to read, even if it's hard sometimes.

Hearing a ding from my phone that I hadn't yet picked up today, I sit up a little and pick it up. I wonder who's texting, Grammy doesn't text me that much, and especially not when she's in the same house.

I look at the name on the screen 'Dani 💖👩🏼‍🦰'. Oh my goodness! I start freaking out. What does she need? Why is she texting me? Okay, be cool, she probably just wants to say hi! Right? Ya, right. I nod my head.

I open the text and read through it.

Hi sweetheart! I

hope you are having

a good morning and

ate a nice healthy

breakfast. I was wondering

if you would like to

come over and have

dinner tonight with me

and my girlfriends?

Oh my, she wants to have dinner with me. With me, and her girlfriends. Wait girlfriends? She must have accidentally added an s onto the word, silly Dani, that's okay, spelling is hard, so is grammar.

I type out a response, not wanting to keep her waiting to long.

I hit send and put my phone down once I realized she had seen and liked the message. Okay, now I just need to tell Grammy. Hopefully she's okay with it since I already said yes. I mean I am an adult so I think she would say yes.

I make my way down the stairs, entering the living room where I see her sitting in her rocking chair, crocheting something.

"Hey Grammy, whatcha making?" I ask, sitting down in the chair next to her, placing my legs underneath me and sitting on my knees.

"Oh I'm just making a new sweater for winter this year. I'm about half way done. Whats up honey, do you need something?" She pauses what she's doing and gives me her whole attention.

"Cool, it looks good so far, you'll have to show me once it's all done, and um ya there something I have to ask you."

"We'll go ahead, what is it?"

"So you remember that nice woman I met at the grocery store when I went to get the ingredients for the cookies yesterday? Well anyways she asked me if I wanted to go have dinner with her and her girlfriend tonight at 5. She said she would pick me up and everything, and I already said yes to her but if you don't think it's a good idea I can cancel I just wanted to let you know, and kind of ask you at the same time I guess." I finish and smile at her, hoping she agrees.

"Arabella, you are a bright and sweet girl, I trust you, and if you trust this girls then I do to. You're an adult now and as much as I wish I could keep your trapped away from the world forever and make sure nothing bad ever ever happens I know that that's not how the world works. You deserve to go have some fun and hang out with friends so if you would like to then you have my full blessing." She smiles warmly at me.

I squeal and jump up from my chair, running over to her and sitting down at the end of it, hugging her tightly, but being careful not to mess up her hard work on her sweater. "Thank you, thank you, I love you!" I kiss her cheek.

"Love you too dear. Just go write her number down for me incase I need to reach her will you please?"

"Of course, thank you!" I skip to the kitchen and write Dani's number on a sticky note, placing it on the fridge right where she can see it.

Looking over at the clock I see it's around 12 o'clock. I decide to eat a small lunch before going upstairs and getting ready.

I get some yogurt out of the fridge, adding in some honey and granola and mixing it up before sitting down and eating it all up. I make one more bowl and bring it into the living room for Grammy since she hasn't gotten herself lunch yet.

After she thanks me I go upstairs and straight to my closet. I need to find the perfect outfit! After looking for a few minutes I pick out a light blue knitted dress along with a little white cardigan for over it since it's short sleeves and it might be cold considering it will be closer to night time.

I place the clothes on the bed and move into the bathroom, showering and shaving until I'm smooth, smooth, smooth. I step out of the shower and dry off, applying cocoa butter to my body, it's so good it smells like chocolate!!

I put my robe on when I'm done and enter my room, sitting down at my desk and I start to blow dry my hair before curling it in loose curls. Throwing half of it up with a white bow.

Now time for makeup. I don't do much but I like doing the little that I do. Mascara, lipgloss and a little blush. Not to much though, I don't want to cover up my freckles at all or look like a clown!

I pick up my phone to check the time and see that it's now 4 o'clock, so I decide to read for half an hour to calm my nerves before I get dressed and wait for Dani to get here.

Half an hour later I put the book down and get dressed. I put my white sandals with a little bow on before grabbing my phone and running down the stairs, carefully of course.

I make it to the bottom of the stairs and sit down on the last step, looking out the window and then down at the phone.

8 more minutes.

I'm nervous.

I'm excited too.

I hope that they her girlfriend likes me and thinks that I'm cool. Then maybe I would have two friends! Three actually cause Grammy is my friend too!

I sit there bounding my leg, even though I'm trying not to and biting my finger, a habit I'm not to proud of. It makes me feel safer though so I can't be too hard on myself.

I hear a light knock on the door and look up.

She's here.

Thank you to every single person that is reading! This chapter would have been out sooner but I went back in to check things over and somehow it was all deleted so I had to rewrite this one. That's okay though cause I think the rewrite was better written than the original was!
