He walked into the drugstore, listening to the bell ringing above him. Then, he chose a snack and a drink before returning to the cash register.
"Hello?" he called before gasping when someone popped up from behind the counter.
"Welcome back, alley guy!" the girl smiled brightly at him and he chuckled.
"Thanks, " he raised an eyebrow at her. "What were you doing down there?"
"Taking a nap, as always. But, um, you know the snack and drink combo discount is over, right?"
He nodded, giving her the money anyway. "I know."
"Hm, okay, " she murmured as she put his items into a bag and printed out his receipt. "I haven't seen you in a while."
"I was giving the artist time to paint something else, " he replied and she grinned.
The girl handed him his bag before pointing towards the alley. "Looks like you're in luck. I noticed a new painting outside yesterday and, spoiler alert, it's pretty awesome."
"Really? Thank you!" he ran out of the drugstore and into the alley. His eyes widened as he gazed at the painting.
It took him a moment to realize that the grass wasn't grass. They were arrows.
"Poachers, " he muttered under his breath, completely astonished with the artist's creativity. But when his eyes wandered down to the corner of the beautiful painting, he smiled knowingly. "Magnificent as always, P.B."
He turned back towards the drugstore and smiled at the girl inside. She winked at him before walking into the employees room.
The girl was strange, but he liked her, nevertheless. Something told him that she was much more than she let on.
