Chapter 1415
Lord Protector Novel
âSheâs not doing so well,â Sole Wolf reported. âEmily Clemons is now in power, and she calls herself the Lady of the Great Marshal. She had shut down New Linton Group and even seized the land on which its building sits. Iâve been following your orders by keeping watch from a distance; I didnât help her at all on my own accord.â
A fresh swell of rage rose in Zeke.
âThat woman sure is nasty as always! We shall take this opportunity to eradicate this threat once and for all. Solo, you did the right thing by not stepping in to help.â
Zeke wasnât preparing to beat them at their own game. Until he managed to lure out the hidden sects of Mount Final through the fake Ares and Julian, he wouldnât stand in the way of their plans.
âWhat are you going to do next?â Sole Wolf asked.
âRecuperate in the Cygnus Room first,â Zeke said briefly. âThe King shall return in three days!â
âGot it!â Sole Wolf said.
Three days later, the building opposite New Linton Group was gay with lanterns and decorations, and the beating of gongs and drums rang up to the skies. It was a festive occasion.
The building across the street had been taken over by Emily to serve as the headquarters of Emperorâs Residence.
Compared to the opposite side, New Linton Group was deserted.
There was not a single person in sight in that monumental building; rather, countless excavators and demolition machines had surrounded it.
If Lacey refused to sell the building to Emily for twenty million, Emily would mobilize these machines to demolish the building.
Lacey, Dawn, and Nancy stood at the door of New Linton Group observing the fiery festivities across the street. They were disheartened.
A strong sense of defeat made them look up.
âLacey, havenât you been able to get in touch with Zeke?â Dawn asked.
Lacey shook her head.
âAre you really set on tearing down this building?â Nancy asked, âWe wonât get a single cent if the building is demolished. But if we sell it to Emily, we can still get twenty million... Why do we have to make things even more difficult for ourselves?â
Lacey smiled bitterly. âYouâre too naïve, Nancy. Do you think Emily would gladly give us twenty million?
She will definitely find ways to bail out.â
Nancy nodded thoughtfully. âI guess Iâve overestimated Emily.â
âLetâs just tear it down and forget about it, then. If we canât keep this building, Emily mustnât lay a finger on it, either.â
âLacey, whatâs going on here?â a breathy voice of an elderly person sounded.
Laceyâs parents, Daniel and Hannah, came by.
âOh, itâs nothing,â Lacey explained sheepishly with a light blush on her face. âMom, Dad, what brings you here?â
âAn unfamiliar caller called us and said that something had happened to New Linton Group, so we came over to have a look,â Daniel said.
Laceyâs expression changed.
Damn it! It must be Emily who called them.
âLacey, how come there are so many excavators and bulldozers here?â another familiar voice drifted to Laceyâs ears.
They were Zekeâs parents, Faith and Diego.
âMom, Dad, what are you guys doing here?â Lacey asked in a fluster.
âThe senior executive in charge of human resources told us that something has cropped up with Linton Group, so we came to see whatâs going on,â Faith answered.
The senior executive in charge of human resources has long since jumped ship to Emperorâs Residence.
Emily is indeed behind all this!
Lacey had intended to hide it from the elders, lest they worry.
But little did she expect Emily to alarm them.
Just as Lacey was racking her brain about how to explain to them, Emily was seen walking out from the opposite building, running all the way to Lacey.
âYouâre all here. Whereâs Zeke? How come I didnât see him?â
