Chapter 1297
Lord Protector Novel
Whipping out his phone, Zeke called Wolfâs Greed. âWolfâs Greed, please help me investigate this guy called Rowan Krate.â
âYes, Sir!â
After ending the call, Zeke patted Benjamin on his shoulder and said, âThe information you shared with us is extremely important, and is of great service to Eurasia. What do you want as a reward?â
Benjamin gave Zeke a military salute. âGreat Marshal, let me work for you by your side.â
To work for the Great Marshal was a soldierâs greatest honor.
Zeke nodded in agreement. âVery well.â
Benjamin was so emotional that he almost cried.
Just when Zeke investigated Rowan, the latter began to target Linton Group, which was now a well-
known conglomerate in Eurasia.
It had established subsidiaries all over Eurasiaâs cities, while its headquarters was located in the central business district of Atheville.
One fine working day, a group of soldiers in military fatigues gathered in front of the groupâs headquarters.
The leader of the group was none other than Rowan Krate.
With a wave of his hand, he ordered, âSecure the whole building!â
âYes, Sir!â
The thousand-odd soldiers barged into the building and secured the whole tower in a short time as no one dared to stand in their way.
At the sight of the heavily armed soldiers, all the employees fled the building. They gathered at the entrance, speculating about what was going on.
Meanwhile, Lacey was the last to know about the commotion as she was on the top floor.
When she opened the door and looked out, she was stunned.
There were about thirty soldiers who had taken over the top floor.
Just when she was wondering what was going on, her cellphone rang.
It was Dawn.
âLacey, soldiers have taken the whole tower over and they have chased all the employees out. Whatâs going on? What are we going to do?â
Lacey then realized it wasnât only the top floor that was occupied. In fact, the whole building had been taken over.
Trying her best to stay calm, she reassured Dawn, âDonât panic, let me see whatâs going on.â
At that moment, someone that looked like a leader approached her and questioned, âAre you the president of the company, Lacey Hinton?â
Lacey nodded. âThatâs right. Who are you?â
âWe are not allowed to divulge our identity. Please leave this place. We are requisitioning this building.â
âHuh?â Lacey asked in curiosity, âWho ordered this? Where is your documentation?â
The leader replied, âIâm not allowed to say. Our leader is downstairs. If you have questions, you can speak directly with him.â
With no time to waste, Lacey hurried downstairs.
âWho is responsible for this operation?â Lacey questioned the soldiers at the entrance.
Smoking at the entrance a moment ago, Rowan approached. âI am.â
Lacey demanded, âWhat gives you the right to take over my building? Who are you?â
Rowan replied, âIâm from Eurasiaâs Third Army Factory. Based on Eurasiaâs law, I have the right to requisite civilian buildings for our use.â
Lacey looked at Dawn. âDawn, does Eurasia have such a law?â
Dawn was the legal advisor for Linton Group.
She nodded. âThere is, but military factories usually take over car or component manufacturers and their employees. I have never heard of an office building being requisitioned before. What do you need our building for?â
Rowan sneered, âThis is a state secret. What youâre doing is inquiring about a national secret.â
âNo, we arenât.â Lacey denied immediately to prevent Rowan from trying to falsely accuse Dawn of breaking the law.
âIf you want to requisition it, then fine. We will just rent another office building. Please allow us to go back in to collect our company documents and personal belongings.â
