Chapter 1238
Lord Protector Novel
âThis is Fisher Village,â said the young lady. âIt looks like youâve caught a cold. Here, have some of this seaweed soup.â
The lady passed Zeke a bowl of hot soup.
Zeke was cold and hungry, so he quickly finished the entire bowl.
As expected, the soup warmed him up, and he began to feel much better.
âThanks, young lady,â Zeke said graciously.
âItâs no problem at all,â the lady replied. âBy the way, what happened to you? How did you drift over here from the ocean?â
Zeke sighed. âItâs a long story. My friend and his family were wiped out. Hence I chased after our enemies to the depths of the sea to avenge him, but I ended up falling for one of the enemyâs tricks. My ship was destroyed, so here I am.â
Hmm?
The young lady furrowed her brows. She clearly looked hurt as tears seemed to well up in her eyes.
Zeke froze for a moment. âWhatâs wrong, young lady?â
âYour friendâs unfortunate situation reminded me of my family,â she answered with red eyes. âMy family was wiped out a few days ago too, and I was the only survivor.â
What a coincidence.
Could this young lady be part of Black Wolfâs family?
Zeke glanced at the young woman and noticed that she did resemble Black Wolf.
âWhatâs your fatherâs name, young lady?â he couldnât help but ask.
âBrad Horan. Oh, my father said never to reveal his name, so donât tell anyone else about it.â
Brad Horan?
Thatâs Black Wolfâs pseudonym!
She really is his descendant.
Zeke suddenly felt consoled. At least it wasnât the end of Black Wolfâs family line.
He asked, âHow did you escape?â
âMy father secretly brought me here when I was ten, so Iâve been getting by on my own ever since. At that time, he told everyone at home that I was dead, so they didnât know that Iâm still alive. Thatâs how I managed to escape from the death trap.â
âYou were forced to live on your own since you were ten? Do you hate your father for that?â
The lady shook her head. âI donât. Let me tell you a secret, but donât share it with anyone else.â
âDonât worry. I wonât spill,â Zeke responded, nodding.
âI suspect that my father used to be an undercover agent and that his job was to gather information for the country.â
âWhy do you think so?â
âThe truth is - my father put me here because he wanted me to guard something. When my fatherâs master shows up, Iâll hand it over to him, and my task will be accomplished. In doing so, Iâd be considered a hero for carrying out an important duty for the country. Donât all of these mean that my dad was an undercover agent?â
Zeke was lost in thought for a while.
What on earth did Black Wolf ask her to watch over?
Why didnât he hand it over to me directly?
Unless... He couldnât contact me?
Zeke asked, âWhy didnât your father hand the item over to his master directly? Why did he ask you to protect it instead?â
The young woman sighed. âMy father said someone was secretly keeping track of his communications with his master. He was worried that heâd end up getting his master into trouble. Thatâs why he could only wait for his master to approach him instead.â
Realization dawned on Zeke.
It was just as I thought - Black Wolf sacrificed his entire familyâs lives just so he could protect mine.
Such unwavering loyalty!
Zeke patted the young woman on the shoulder. âWhatâs your name, young lady?â
