Chapter 1148
Lord Protector Novel
Lacey obviously didnât want any of the above. She slowly took a step back. âYou monster! Leave immediately before I call the police.â
Julian only stepped closer to her. âMy apologies, but either you or your baby is going to die today.â
Lacey flew into full-on panic mode. âIâll leave Atheville. I promise Iâll leave Atheville. Iâll never come here ever again. Please, donât hurt my baby.â
Julian shook his head. âItâs too late for that. It looks like youâve chosen option three. Alright, then. Iâll be able to get rid of both you and your baby.â
Julian leapt toward Lacey and raised his dagger high, the cold glint of his blade flashing in the light.
Right at that moment, Zeke returned.
He pushed the door open casually, only to find that it had been locked from the inside.
He then heard Laceyâs scream.
Laceyâs in danger!
Zeke immediately kicked the door open forcefully.
The door, which had been kicked off its hinges, landed heavily on Julian.
The latter collapsed under the doorâs weight and the dagger in his hand fell to the ground, clanging loudly.
The moment he laid his eyes on the dagger, a surge of anger rushed to Zekeâs brain.
That man had tried to kill Lacey, and for that, he could not walk out of the office alive.
The other man didnât seem like he could actually escape from Zeke at the moment, so Zeke directed his attention to Lacey.
Lacey was curled up in the corner with her hands laid over her stomach. Tears were pouring from her eyes.
Zeke rushed forward and instinctively laid a hand on Laceyâs stomach. âLacey, what happened? Did he hit your stomach?â
Lacey held onto Zeke with one arm as the other hand remained on her stomach, still protecting the life inside her belly. âZeke, thank God youâre here. He didnât manage to hurt me.â
Zeke didnât believe Lacey.
Why else would she be holding onto her belly? That man has to have punched her in the stomach.
He gritted his teeth in anger.
âLacey, go to the break room and rest. I need to have a little chat with this guy.â
Lacey nodded. âOkay. Please be careful.â
Zeke closed the door to the break room and started walking toward Julian, his aura almost red with murderous intent.
Julian was still stuck on the ground. He hadnât been able to lift himself.
Based on the sheer force Zeke had used to slam the door toward him, Julian felt as if he had at least broken a couple of ribs.
Zeke bent down to pick up the dagger and started twirling it around.
âIâll give you two choices. One, you jump off this building. Two, I kill you and throw you off this building myself.â
Julianâs heart began thumping loudly.
The sheer murderousness emanating off of Zeke made it clear that he wasnât just trying to scare Julian;
he actually meant his words.
Hurriedly, Julian squeaked, âYou canât kill me! You have no right to lay even a hand on me.â
Zeke raised an eyebrow. âOh? Why is that so?â
Julian replied, âIâm Aresâ son! Iâm also a student of the Great Marshal. If you lay a finger on me, the two of them will surely come looking for you.â
Zeke blinked in realization.
So this guy is Aresâ son.
He was probably afraid that Lacey would return to the Thistleton family and threaten his position of power. That was probably why he had tried to kill her.
But Laceyâs his sister, for crying out loud. How could he have been able to make a killing blow?
How has Ares managed to create such a horrible monster for a child? What an embarrassment.
Based on that piece of information, Zeke actually couldnât bring himself to kill him.
He was Laceyâs biological brother, after all.
Lacey would have to return to the Thistleton family eventually. If he killed Julian, Lacey would be shunned by the other Thistletons when she went back.
