Chapter 30

🌟Quick Lessons - Preparations🌟

A Very Twisted Journey

After the events of the Unbirthday Party, the rest was finished without a hitch due to Lia's request, as she needed to be distracted from the next situation. Everyone, especially Lia and the twins, was on edge. As soon as the party ended, Riddle and Lia went to Cowley's office and told him everything.

The headmaster was speechless for once. True, he has given tours and inspections of the school to 'ensure parents and guardians of the students. But none have ever wanted to inspect the dorms, as the Great Seven founded each of them! But then again, as this person isn't from anywhere, it makes sense. Especially when the person, in general, is a very protective older brother looking out for his sister.

With that said, the brother was a significant person from another world, and failure to satisfy him was not an option for Crowley. So, without a moment of hesitation, he called for a 'Dorm Leader meeting and requested the vice dorm leaders to come as well.

That evening, in the Mirror Chamber, all the dorm leaders and vice leaders were present. As they waited for the leaders Heartslabyul and Crowley to arrive, they all had one thing on their minds. 'What was going on?

"Soooo, does anyone here have any idea why the headmaster called for this meeting?"

"It's anyone's guess, Kalim."

"Come now, Jamil. Aren't you the least bit curious?"

"No one likes to get into other's business as much as you do, Azul."

"Why, you wound me. I'm simply stating how peculiar it is we were all summoned to a meeting when we've only just started the school year.

"I'd have to agree with Azul on this one. It is rather odd for all of us to be called on short notice."

"Oui, Roi du Poison. It is quite a rarity; we even have Roi de Ta Chambre personally present."

"I didn't have much of a choice to come. Madame Eva said she'd pull me by the ear and drag me here if I didn't."

"And we all know better than to evoke Madame's wrath. We wouldn't want a repeat of last year's incident." Said a young man who was not much taller than the blue-haired boy he stood next to.

He had partially tan skin, a slight tooth gap, and dark brown dreadlocks tucked back with a red bandana. But what stood out from him were the metal limbs that replaced his right arm and left leg. His right eye was replaced with a yellow cybertronic one.

"Now, now, Decoda. ~ It couldn't have been that bad."

"Oi, bat, you weren't there. So, you have no say in it."

"Easy, Leona."

Just then, the doors opened, revealing both principals, the Heartslabyul leaders. "Thank you all for coming on such short notice," Crowley replied as he stood near the table that had all the dorm leaders, well, excluding one.

"Hmm? Has no one told Malleus of this meeting?"

"*sighs* I tried to tell him, but that boy is never where you want him to be. When I went over to tell him, he vanished to his evening strolls. So, I wouldn't know where he is now; I'll be here in his stead for the time being."

"It's alright, Lilia. You can tell him about it once we're done." Madame Eve assured the Vice dorm head.

"Pardon me for being rude, but can you please tell us what this is all about? Rather unusual to have a dorm meeting now when school has just started."

"Well, we have a certain problem with one of the students... Guardians," Crowley said as he skimmed through a folder file. "You all remember Miss Lia, correct?"

All the leaders nodded as he handed them a folder. As Azul grabbed his folder, he pushed his glasses as he read through. "Isn't this the girl from the Mirror ceremony I thought you sent her back home?"

"Well, some circumstances had accrued, but in the end, she proved to be a worthy student here... but there was an incident that occurred," Crowley coughed, which made Riddle stiffen.

"Recently, her guardian reached out to us and wants to make sure this school is appropriate enough for her to attend." Madame Eva finished.

"And not just her, but the relatives of the children who are the TAs of the school also want to ensure this school is safe." Riddle added.

"I can understand why," Vil mumbled. "She is, after all, the only and first girl attending Night Raven College."

"And it makes sense for the kids too! If any of my younger siblings came, my dad would have dozens of inspectors checking this place.

" *groan* As if we need any more headaches than we already do."

"It's not just that," everyone turned to see Lia and Theo entering the room.

"Sorry for being late; getting the kids to bed took a while." Theo apologized.

"No worries, we technically just started."

"Thank you, Madame. Anyway, the other reason why this inspection is so important is that the kids and I aren't from here."

"Um, not to be rude, miss. But the whole lot of us aren't from here either."

"She does not mean from Sage's Isle. Mister Bucchi. She means from Twisted Wonderland in general."

"I'm confused," Kalim said, trying to wrap his brain around this.

"You're telling us that Herbivore here and those munchkins are from another world?"

"Ding, ding, ding. Look at that; someone got it in one guess. Do you want a prize?" Lia sassed as she rolled her eyes.

Leona growled. "Watch it,"

"FRT, you can't blame her when all of you were being oblivious."

"Wanna repeat that, radish sprout?"

"L-Listen! Haven't you guys noticed the little critters around her 24'7!?"

Decoda interjected. "Idia's gotta point. Aside from those things not looking like the creatures we know, they also have unnatural abilities you'd think only we'd possess. I mean, come on, who here thinks a big yellow mouse that can shoot lighting is 'normal' here?"

"Exactly, those creatures are called Pokémon. And before any of you ask, no, not an alien. Just from another universe where we lack magic, we have our miraculous friends to help make the 'impossible possible. And where we're from, they make up as much of our world's population as humans do. Found everywhere you look, in the deepest seas, highest mountains, souring skis, grassy plans."

"What else is your world like? Minus these 'Pokémon and the 'no magic, it couldn't be that different than ours?"

"Well, you're right on that. . .um?"

"Ah, yes, forgot we haven't introduced ourselves. I'm Vil, Vil Schoenheit."

"Lia Magus, it's very nice to meet you." She suddenly felt her hand lifted. Turning to her side, she found that it was a young man with a blonde bob cut and a hat.

"Bonjour, Miss Lys observateur d'étoiles. We meet again."

'What's with the nickname?' "Nice to see you again, too, Rook."

Vil looked at them oddly. "You two have met already?"

"Oh, yes. About a week ago, during lunch. He was curious about my Pokémon. And that was it."

"I see,"

Suddenly, Kalim leaped from his chair and giddily went up to Lia. "Hi! I'm Kalim Al-Asim, I didn't get to say this before, but thanks for saving my butt with your turtle!"

"Uh? Oh! You're welcome. And I'll be sure to tell Squirtle that too for you."

"That's its name? Even that's adorable!" suddenly, he was pulled away from her by another boy with long braided hair.

"Kalim, refrain from bringing that up. No one wants to relive that scene. And don't invade someone's bubble; you don't need to get in their face to thank them."

"Ah, my bad, my bad, just wanted to thank her." Kalim scratched his head sheepishly. The boy shook his head as they looked as he looked at the girl.

"I'm Jamil Viper, vice dorm leader of Scarabia. It's a pleasure to me, you." he bowed.

Lia bowed back. "It's nice to meet you too."

"So, if you don't mind me asking, why exactly is your guardian so adamant about wanting to check the school?"

"He's my brother."

.

.

.

"Oh. . . . " said all the boys (excluding Riddle, Trey, Theo, and The Crowley's)

"And he doesn't want to just inspect the school; he wants to inspect the dorms too."

"Let me guess, 'Protective older brother, who worries about you constantly, hardly lets you do some stuff on your own, and won't let you do certain things without his approval?" Idia summarized.

Lia sweat-dropped, "Yes, yes, yes, and unfortunately, yes."

"Ah... now I'm starting to understand the situation," Lilia said as he scratched his chin.

Lia sighed as she bowed. "I'm sorry to rope you all into this. I'm sure you all are busy with your dorm, but once my brother makes up his mind, it's hard to persuade him."

"I bet he was reeeeeeeaaaallly fuming when he heard this was an 'all-boys magic school." Decoda assumed.

"You have no idea."

"No offense, but if all we need to do is impress your brother and the kids' relatives. There's nothing to worry about, right?" Ruggie guessed.

"No, this is important," everyone stared at the headmaster, " For Night Raven College's credibility is on the line."

'There it is,' All the boys groaned in unison.

Lia saw their expressions and jumped in. "Despite what you guys are thinking, Crowley isn't wrong in this case."

"And why is that? I might ask Miss Lia?" Azul asked.

"Let me answer that by explaining the lifestyle of my home. You see, in the world of Pokémon, when a child comes of age of either ten or eleven. They can go on a journey to decide their future as a Pokémon trainer. Before they start, they are given their first Pokémon by the region's head Pokémon researcher or Professor, as they prefer."

"And I take it there are different aspects of a Pokémon trainer?" The man next to Azul asked.

"There are many Trainer classes. After you get your first Pokémon, it's up to you what you want to do for your future. Sometimes, when trainers don't have enough confidence to go on a journey at that time, they study in a trainer school to learn about Pokémon; once they graduate, then they're off on their journey."

"To list a few trainer classes, there are Pokémon connoisseurs who can identify the compatibility between a trainer and Pokémon while also creating food that will benefit the two, researchers who study Pokémon and their environments, Pokémon rangers who help preserve the relationship between Pokémon and Humans. However, the most common trainer classes are Battle trainers and Pokémon coordinators. Pokémon coordinators are trainers who show off their Pokémon's beauty, elegance, and toughness and the bond they share. Battle Trainers, it's pretty much self-explanatory. They,"

"They pretty much battle with one another to show who has the strongest Pokémon. It's just a test of strength and who's the best."

Everyone looked at Idia. Who nervously shifted in his seat. "Sh-she said it was self-explanatory."

"I'm just thankful that some of you understand this. However, as good as it is to understand the trainer classes, they're less important than their ranks. Each class has a certain rank for a Pokémon trainer. With the battle class being the most common, there are a few ranks that make up the system of our world. And my brother has the highest rank of all. He's currently the Pokémon champion of our home region."

"Pft, champion? Isn't that like a bit, you know... much?" Leona scoffed.

"I'll have you know, the champion rank is more than just a title, especially in Galar,"

"That's your home in the other world, yes?" Vil asked.

"It's the name of my home region. There are at least eight of them in my world. And each region typically has a system we call the 'Pokémon League; an organized battle competition that a trainer can register in once they have all the needed necessities."

"Oh? And what are these 'necessities?~" Lilia inquired

"A trainer needs to battle a gym leader to receive a badge. For the Pokémon league, you need eight badges. When you've required all eight, you can enter a Pokémon tournament or defeat the region's Elite Four, which is a group of specific Pokémon trainers who rank higher than Gym Leader. And in case any of you are asking, gym leaders are Pokémon trainers who specialize in training with specific types of Pokémon and do battles with them. Their job is to test beginner trainers to see if they can qualify to enter the Pokémon league."

"You said your brother has the highest rank. So, champion means that they're the top trainer out of everyone else?"

"Basically, yes. But there's more to it than that. Once a trainer becomes a champion, they are also labeled as a region's guardian. Responsible for the safety and order of all of the region's inhabitants. They are also responsible for choosing a gym leader for a Pokémon gym if that specific gym doesn't have one. In any case, to keep it simple, my brother is pretty well respected," Lia said as the boys nodded in understanding.

"He's also pretty protective, and I'll be blunt as much. No matter how much I'm beginning to like this school, I'm still the only girl in the entire school population, and it's going to take a lot to convince him for me to stay."

The boys hummed. "If I may, miss. But from the sounds of things, your brother's status as 'Champion, isn't the only thing we need to worry about, is it?" Jamil asked.

"Very perceptive of you. No, it's not. You see, my brother has always been talented with Pokémon. And still, because of that, we have another Pokémon battle competition called The World Coronation Series. A battle system that involves all Pokémon trainers in all the regions. Whoever wins receives the title Monarch, which is pretty much saying they're the strongest Pokémon trainer by far in the entire Pokémon world."

Jamil and the rest of the boys were taken back. "And your brother has that title as well?"

"To this day, since he was ten."

"Wow! I wish we could see that. I bet your battles look super cool!" Kalim beamed.

Theo smiled, "Figured one of you would ask that. That's why I asked a certain Pokémon in particular to do so."

"Seriously? Is there like a create- er Pokémon for everything?" Ruggie asked.

"You'd be surprised." Riddle and Trey sweat-dropped.

"Rotom? You here?"

As everyone was waiting for the said Pokémon to show up, a golden ring appeared behind both Riddle and Vil. Then, a purple mitt-like hand came out of them and swapped the crowns on their heads. The same thing happened to Azul's and Lilia's hats soon after.

"What in the world?!"

"Huh?!"

"My, my~"

"Bucchi! If this is your idea of a joke!"

"What?! I was standing here the entire time! There's no way I'd be able to do that in seconds!"

The boys were very confused as to what had just happened; Lia, on the other hand, looked annoyed. At that moment, a golden ring appeared next to her. And Rotom came out of it.

*Sorry for the wait, Miss Lia. I was fulfilling the request you asked of me. *

"It's fine, Rotom; where's Hoopa?"

*Hmm? Isn't he already here? *

"You could say that," Theo sweat-dropped.

Rotom was about to ask what he meant by that till he noticed the boys switching their hats and crowns back.

*Oh dear, *

"Whoa! Hey, Lia! What's with this ring?" Kalim asked as one was floating next to him. Jamil immediately pulled him back and stood in front.

"Kalim, get back. You don't know what that thing can do."

"I wouldn't make that face, Jamil. That'll make him want to mess with you even more."

Before Jamil could say anything, a smiling purple face came out of nowhere and through the ring, "Were you surprised?"

"Gah!/Whoa!"

"Come on, were ya?"

"What the heck is that!?"

"This is Hoopa, a Pokémon. To be more accurate, one of the rarest in existence in my world."

"Heh, heh, heh, heh! Li-chan! Were you surprised?"

"At the moment, Hoopa. No, this is really important. And I would appreciate it if you would not goof off right now."

"Um,"

The two looked over to Idia, who had his hand raised. "S-sorry, but. What was that he just did with the rings?"

"Oh, Hoopa here is able to summon anything through his rings, as well as transporting too."

"And you guys were pointing fingers at me?" Ruggie narrowed his eyes.

"Can you blame them considering your reputation?" Leona shot back.

"Fair enough."

As soon as everyone calmed down, Lia cleared her throat, getting their attention. "Anyway, I'll explain more about Hoopa at a later date; right now, this is Rotom." she gestured to the floating tablet. "He is a Pokémon that can possess any electrical device. The one he currently possesses is called a Pokédex. A digital encyclopedia that can tell you everything there is to know about Pokémon and plus some. For example,"

She held out her wrist and tapped the watch that was on it. "Hey, little buddy, I'm going to need you to come out for a bit." the watch made a few beeping noises till suddenly, *Bizz! *

"Whoa!"

"This is what a Rotom naturally looks like."

"How many of those guys do you have?" Decoda asked.

"Just three, each holding a specific purpose. Anyway, Rotom, would you?"

*Certainly! * They hovered over to their fellow Pokémon and did their thing. * 'Ding!' Rotom: The Plasma Pokémon, an Electric and Ghost type. Its electric-like plasma body can enter some kinds of machines in order to take control and make mischief. However, as studies continue to this day, Rotom proves to be helpful as it can power up certain motors. *

"So, they're basically living viruses?" Idia shivered, clutching his tablet for dear life.

"In a sense, as it was just said, they can possess any and all electrical devices. But that doesn't necessarily mean they'll cause problems. Take a 'Freez Rotom, for example;" A picture of a Rotom possessing a refrigerator was shown on Rotom Dex's screen, "When they possess a refrigerator, they can keep the food inside at the right temperature even during a power outage. A 'Drone Rotom can give eyes to the sky, and you can just tell them where to go. Most of the Pokédex entries are outdated as we learn more about Pokémon every day."

"Now, the reason why we're introducing you to Rotom specifically is because you're getting a Rotom of your own," Theo added.

Some of the boys were excited, others were skeptical, and the rest were nervous. (cough, cough 'Idia, cough)

"May I ask why?" Azul looked at them questionably and slightly intrigued.

Lia pulled out her phone, and on the back of it was a Rotom face. "When a Rotom possesses a smartphone, they can automatically install a Pokédex. This way, you can all learn about Pokémon as it's come to our understanding that Pokémon are more involved in this world than we thought. Heartslabyul confirmed that."

With a nod of her head, Lia signaled Riddle and Trey to pull out their Pokéballs. As they did, they released their Pokémon in front of everyone.

"Oooo~, wait, so Pokémon aren't just animal-based?" Kalim questioned as he was staring at Alcremie.

"Nope, some spices are also inanimate objects. It all depends on their origins."

"Vil raised his hand, "If I may, you're Rotom mentioned 'Types. What is that about?"

Lia explained as Rotom showed the symbols of each type. "Types is a term that describes what Pokémon is, what their power is, and what weaknesses they have. A Pokémon can be either one or two types, but it also has a number of weaknesses based on other types. There are a total of eighteen types to categorize Pokémon. Normal, Fighting, Fire, Water, Grass, Bug, Rock, Ground, Steel, Ice, Flying, Poison, Electric, Psychic, Dark, Ghost, Fairy, and last but not least, Dragon. At the moment, Dragon types are considered the strongest type in the Pokémon species."

Leona scoffed under his breath, "Of course they are."

Hearing that, Lia was about to question him, but both Ruggie and Lilia signaled that she would not. Seeing it was a question for another time, Lia went back on topic.

"And another thing, no matter the appearance of a Pokémon, never underestimate them. No matter their size or how harmless they look, they're a force to be reckoned with. Even a Pokémon that's 'baby size can pack a mean punch."

"So~, They're the complete definition of 'Don't judge a Book by its cover." Lilia mused.

"Essentially, yes. But it's also the fact that there are a few certain Pokémon that can control the forces of nature and among other abilities that we all should remain cautious about." Theo included.

"Pardonne-moi, Monsieur l'observateur d'étoiles. But I thought we were preparing for the arrival of Miss Lys observateur d'étoiles brother. What does all this have to do with that?"

"Because other than Lia's brother. The grandmother of the twins is also coming to inspect the school. She was formally the head Pokémon researcher for the Galer region. So, learning the basics of Pokémon will help win her approval."

"That makes sense," Jamil spoke. "With these Pokémon coming into our world. Someone with high knowledge of them would want to ensure that they are properly taken care of. Especially when they are a part of another world's lifestyle."

"Exactly, and other than the Pokédex. Rotom can also give you all the history and lessons you need to know about the Pokémon world. However, that being said, you and the rest of the student body must never share this with anyone outside of school. As far as anyone in Twisted Wonderland knows, Pokémon are just unique creatures with abilities."

"Theo is right. The last thing Night Raven needs is panic or unwanted attention from anyone who wants to harm us or the Pokémon. In other words, do not blabber what's been said here to your friends or family. We wouldn't want to risk their safety or anything else. Would we?" Madame Eve inquired, glancing at everyone.

"No, Ma'am,"

"Um," Idia raised his hand. "Do we have to worry about the little ghosts acting alone?"

"No, even if they're on your devices; as long as you treat them with care, they won't give you any trouble." Lia looked over to the 'mischief Pokémon. "Alright, Hoopa. Bring them in."

"Heh, heh, heh; Leave it to Hoopa! Ali Hoopa Ring!" he tossed his ring up, and it glowed with an assortment of lights.

Then, in just a few seconds, more than a dozen Rotoms emerged and started to fly around.

Lia quickly whistled, catching the Pokémon's attention. "Alright, boys. Hold out your phones, and they will do the rest."

As the dorm leaders willingly/reluctantly held their phones out. All the Rotoms immediately zapped themselves into them. No one made a move as they waited for something to happen. Then, their phones changed into their dorm colors (not what Lia was expecting at all), and different Rotom expressions appeared on them.

"Whoa!/My, my~/ What now?/ Um, hi."

'At least they're taking this well.' Lia sighed.

"This is so cool! So now we can use that dex thingy like you now?"

"It's called a Pokédex, Kalim."

Lia lightly laughed, "Yes, with your now Rotom phones. You can look up any Pokemon you come across. To use it, it's no different when you're taking a picture. Just point your phone to a Pokémon, and Rotom will do the rest."

Kalim immediately got up to try it out. And the first Pokémon he tried it was none other than Hoopa. * 'Ding!' Hoopa; The mischief Pokemon. A Ghost and Psychic type. Confined form. With its rings able to warp space, this troublemaker sends anything and everything to faraway places. They'll gather them through its rings to teleport them to a secret place if they find something they like. Fair warning, though: its favorite pastime is pulling pranks on others. Just to see their reactions. *

"Nice! So, you're like a creature version of a Genie!"

"A Ginny?" Hoopa mispronounced.

Jamil deadpanned. "Kalim, what part of 'It pulls pranks, did you not get?"

"Oh?~ So, a Pokemon after my old heart~."

" 'Tsk' Just what we need. Another pain in the neck."

Lia sighed, "You don't have to worry; Hoopa will be staying with me back at Ramshackle. Along with the rest of my Pokemon. If you or any of your dorm students have any, please come and tell me. Suppose they are comfortable with you and want to stay with you. But you will need a few Pokeballs if you don't want to risk anyone to take them from you."

"These Pokeballs you speak of. Are they, like, kind of storage or cage for them?" Jade asked, recalling what Riddle and Trey had done before.

"No, they're a device that has the ability to catch and house Pokémon. I can't exactly tell you how that works cause I've never seen how they're made, but from what I've been told, it's pretty spacious and homey to them. Well, most of them. Depending if the Pokemon want to stay in them or not."

"Any chance we can make them?" Decoda asked.

"You'd want to ask a Pokemn engineer about that."

Crowley gently nudged his wife from the other side and pointed at his watch. Madame Eva nodded. "Alright, I'm sorry for interrupting, but we must hurry along with this meeting as it's getting close to school curfew."

"Right. So, anyway, here's what you guys need to know about my brother."

The rest of the meeting ended with no trouble, as it soon came time to dismiss everyone back to their dorms. Back at Ramshackle, Lia kept going over her list for the inspection.

"I'm sure everything will go smoothly."

Lia looked up to see Theo at her bedroom door. "As it's been a while since you last seen Leon, I wouldn't assume things just yet."

"True, but considering the school's reputation involves the student's reputation. I'm sure the boys will make a good first impression."

"That is if some of the dorms will behave."

"Yeah, I've noticed some sparks flying between you and Leona. What's that about?"

"Let's just say we didn't have a 'pleasant encounter."

"Let me guess, he was giving you attitude, and you wouldn't have it?"

"How are you so good at figuring out stuff on the first try?"

"Let's say some people are easy for me to read."

"Is there anyone who isn't?"

"Quite a few. Anyway, it won't do you good if you stay up too late. And after learning about Leon being directionally challenged, I'm sure the last thing you'd want is for him to end up somewhere you wouldn't want him to be."

"Alright, alright. I'll go to bed soon."

"Good night, Lia."

"Night, Theo."

After he left, Lia reviewed her list one last time and then went to bed. But not after singing her mother's song.

________________________________________________________________________________

Meanwhile, at Savanaclaw. Leona was sitting on the railings of his dorm room balcony, tossing a 'king chess piece in the air.

"Pidgu!" Called out his companion next to him.

"Yeah, yeah." He placed the piece back on the game board and made his move.

Sitting on the other side of the table with the game was none other than a shiny Pidgeot.

They stared at the game board momentarily, then moved their 'knight piece. Stealing Leona's last 'Bishope piece.

Leona smirked, "You're getting better."

"Pidg!" they puffed their chest.

"Rrrar," Another growled, telling the two to keep it down. The other was a shiny Luxray,

Sleeping just at the end of where Leona's feet hung from.

"Quit you're whining; we're finishing up anyway. Try being like Jabari; he's not making any complaints."

Lying on his bed was a Growlithe,

Peacefully sleeping through their little spat. As Leona was finishing his game, he looked over his three companions and gave off a slight chuckle. "Heh, too, think you three were from another world this whole time."

He moves his 'queen to the 'Bird Pokemon's 'king and wins the game. Pidgeot puffed up in irritation as Leona just laughed. "Looks like this school year will be more 'interesting than I thought."
