Chapter 140
The Princess and the Paupers Novel Full Episode
âBella, this employee is doing such a great job, shouldnât we give him a raise?â Romeo said from the
other end of the video call.
Upon hearing this, Dean immediately perked up, eyes full of anticipation as he looked at Arabella.
âIf you donât leave now, Iâll donate your bonus this month to charity.â
Upon hearing this, Dean nearly lost his footing in surprise and quickly got up, âIâm leaving right now!â
âWatch what you say when you leave.â
âGot it, Ms. Bennett. Rest assured, I wonât breathe a word about your relationship to anyoneâ¦â Dean
wasnât paying attention and bumped his head on the office door. Wincing in pain, he covered his
forehead and made a quick exit.
âHappy now?â Arabella turned to the man on her phone, her tone laced with resignation.
Romeo flashed a triumphant grin, âWouldnât it be great if everyone knew about us?â
âBella, when can I go public?â Romeo asked next.
Dean had mentioned someone in the office planning to confess to her? Thatâs just asking for trouble.
Looking at his handsome face, Arabella felt overwhelmed, âIâm hanging up now.â
âHold on.â
âWhat is it?â
âI just want to see you.â Romeo leaned his handsome face closer to the camera, his eyes filled with
deep affection. âDonât you have work to do?â Arabella had heard Carlâs voice earlier and knew Romeo
had other things to take care of. âDo I?â Romeoâs gaze fell on Carl.
Carl braced himself to answer, âNoâ¦â
âIf youâve got nothing to do, why did you come in?â Arabella was surprised that even Carl would lie. All
thanks to Romeo.
âMs. Bennett⦠I came to see if Mr. McMillian needed anything. I didnât expect that all he needed was
you. Iâll just be going thenâ¦â
With that, Carl placed the files on the table and out of Arabellaâs view, he put his hands together in a
silent plea for Romeo to get to work. After all, these projects were urgent and many employees were
waiting for him!
Romeo gave a nod of agreement. Carl quickly made his exit.
The morning quickly passed with Romeoâs persistent attention. By noon, Romeo was already waiting
for her downstairs.
As soon as Arabella got in the car, he pulled her onto his lap.
âRomeo, youâre crossing the line!â
Arabella tried to get up, but he held her tightly.
âIf you squirm, Iâll kiss you.â
Arabella glared at his smug face, âCould you be any more shameless?â
âI could.â Romeo planted a kiss on her lips without warning.
Her lips were soft, and Romeo had intended to tease her playfully. However, after their kiss, he
yearned for more sweetness.
Her waist was slender, and even through their clothes, Romeo could feel the softness of her skin
underneath.
âRomeo!â Arabella attempted to push him away, but his other hand firmly grasped the back of her head,
pulling her closer as he fervently absorbed her essence.
His kiss was like a fierce storm, catching Arabella off guard and rendering her defenseless. She
pushed him away again, âEnoughâ¦â
Although her voice sounded like a warning, to Romeo, it seemed like a tender whisper, accompanied
by a playful undertone.
Normally composed and selfâcontrolled, he was now teetering on the edge of losing control.
Arabella sensed his increasingly intense persistence and pushed him away forcefully, âRomeo, if you
continue like this, I will be angry!â
Romeo halted his actions, yet his eyes were still filled with profound affection.
âBellaâ¦â
Carl felt like heâd been hit by a truckâ¦
Does no one care about his feelings?
Donât single people déserve respect?!
Who knows how he feels driving them around right now? Nothing but agony!
He felt like a third wheel!
After what seemed like an eternity, their long kiss finally ended.
Romeoâs eyes were still somewhat dazed, his voice full of affection, âBella, I like you.â
Arabellaâs shoulders rose and fell slightly, still catching her breath.
Romeoâs eyes were full of love, âI really like you.â
âIs your company still hiring?â Romeo continued.
âHuh?â Arabella didnât understand what he meant.
âTwant to be your assistant, or your personal bodyguard. I can clean your office. Iâll do anything.â
âCanât you have a bit of ambition?â Arabella responded exasperatedly.
âIs it unambitious to do things for a woman you like?â Romeo said softly, âThen I guess Iâll be
unambitious for the rest of my life.â
âArabella was touched by his sincerity. His gaze was genuine, his expression singleâminded.
âI donât like Serena.â Romeo cupped her face, speaking slowly, âThe only one who can move me is
you. It was you in the past, itâs you now, and it will be you in the future.â
âI got it.â Arabella didnât expect him to be so good at sweet talk. She turned her head to look out the
window, pretending to be interested in the scenery.
Romeo flashed a devilish grin, âYour face is red. Bella, are you blushing?â Romeo affectionately teased
her, âYouâre so cute.â
Arabella didnât reply.
Before she met Romeo, no one had ever called her cute. The most common word used to describe her
was cold and aloof.
Romeo cupped her face, âYou look great when youâre shy, when youâre angry, when youâre jealousâ¦
even more so.â
âWhen am I jealous?â
âThis morning.â Romeo held her face in his hands, âYou were so cold to me.â
Arabella didnât think she was jealous, although she didnât like Serenaâs behavior, she wasnât angry or
jealous.
âIf you donât mind, next time another woman approaches meâ¦â Römen teased, waiting for her
reaction.
âIs there a next time?â Arabella raised an eyebrow, her tone carrying a hint of warningâ¦
Romeo smiled, his eyes filled with adoration and joy, âI promise, there definitely wonât be a next time.â
Carl thought to himself in despair, Iâm begging you guys, please stop!!
Can they think about his feelings for a sec, maybe take their loveyâdovey stuff somewhere else?!
What the heck did he do to deserve this kind of tormentâ¦
