A Year with Mr. Arrogant 2
A Year With Mr. Arrogant (2011)
Abrielle
I woke up with the worst headache ever. Groggily, I rolled out of bed and headed towards the bathroom across the hallway. I really wanted my own bathroom, which would give me more privacy and time. As I reach for the doorknob, the sound of talking came from downstairs. Strange. Usually my parents would still be asleep, since they work all day and night. Taking small tiptoes, I make my way down the stairs slowly trying to avoid making noise.
"We hope you could decide on the final decision real soon.It just pains us to see our own son act this way," a woman spoke.
"We understand what you mean, but are you sure our Abrielle is going to change his ways?" My mom spoke afterwards.
Who were they talking to and what were they talking about? Me changing who? I took one last step to peek into the living room but realized I shouldn't have because the step let out a loud creek.
Stupid old house.
"Elle, honey? If you're there come down please," Mom calls.
I sigh and make my way down the last steps and into the living room. A couple dressed in fancy clothing stare back at me. The man wears a navy suit, while the woman wears a vintage style dress. They look as if they were in their late thirties or early forties. Staring into their eyes they seem amazingly familiar. The brown hair and piercing blue eyes.
"Come and sit down," Dad speaks, patting the empty space on the couch next to him. My parents seem to have an uncertain expression upon their faces.
"What's going on?" I question, looking from the blonde couple to my parents.
"She's absolutely gorgeous!" The lady exclaims clapping her hands together.
The man nods agreeing with his wife. I'm five feet ten inches with dark brown hair and blue eyes.
"I've always wanted her to model but unsure where to start," Mom lightly chuckles.
"Well, I'm sure we can help with that," The man said.
Dad gave an unsure smile, "Elle this is Ron and Lori Daniels." He went on to tell me the name of the hotel branch they own.
"W-wait, Daniels? Do you have a daughter named Jadine Daniels?" I question, raising an eyebrow.
"Why yes, do you know her sweetie?" Lori excitedly questions back, intertwining her hands together as if she was praying.
"Yes, we actually met yesterday," I smile, wondering where this would go.
"Well, that's great but we really should be off. I'm sure your parents will tell you everything you need to know," Ron smiles, giving a head gesture to my parents, then looks at Lori for them to leave.
"Well, see you soon, Anna," Lori stands up with Ron as my parents do the same. Lori gives a small hug to my mom and Ron shakes my dads hand. They smile at me one last time before being led out by my parents.
With arms crossed, I wait for my parents to come back into the living room. Once they do, they are aware I want an explanation.
"You might want to sit down for this," Dad tells me, so I do. Looking at their 'uncertain' faces, this had to be big.
"We just want you to know that we love you and we're not giving you away or anything like that," Mom starts, as I listen closely, eager to know what they are about to tell me. It gave me the impression that they were giving me away.
"Mr. Daniels wants you to marry his son, Ace Daniels." Dad cuts to the chase.
"What?!" I rise from my seat, shouting at the top of my lungs, enough to wake up the whole block.
"Keep your voice down. You'll wake up Jazzy," Mom hisses, "Just sit back down and listen to the whole thing."
I sit back down. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Me? Marrying a complete stranger?! All of a sudden my mouth went dry to let me even speak, so all I could do was gape at them.
"However this marriage is only temporary because after a year, you'll be free. You see, Mr. and Mrs. Daniels want you to kind of watch over Ace, kind of tame him, uhm....act as a wife so he could settle down in the future, and ditch his, how do you call it, playboy ways?" Mom explains more.
My senses come back to me and I relax a little when she says watch over him.
"You mean like babysit him?"
"In a way yes but not quite. Mr. Daniels believes that if you marry Ace, then he might act more responsible," Mom replied.
"Mr. Daniels told us how, Ace, picked up your books for you and he said he's never done anything helpful like that." Dad said.
My eyes went wide when dad tells me that. So, Ace was the guy who I forced to pick my books up? So, Jadine is related to that arrogant guy? Wow, I really couldn't believe the things I was hearing right now.
"Remember this is only temporary," Mom alludes once more.
I shoot her a look, "You guys seem like you want me to say yes," When they stay silent that's when I knew.
Unbelievable.
"Think of how it'll be an honor to help out a multi-billionaire man?" Dad rhetorically spoke.
"Dad! of all people, I'd thought you'd be totally against this?! I mean the last time I dated someone, you were literally stalking the poor guy, worried that he'd do something to me....bu-but now you want me to get married right away?" My voice rises, tears swell up in my eyes and I run upstairs. My parents call after me, but they knew better than to do so.
It would take a long time for me to decide, but I knew the answer would be no. At the same time, I don't want to let them down. It's only temporary, but still!
~
I arrive at school, my facial expression giving everyone the feeling of not to mess with me today. Here was the mental lists I was going through right now.
Positive
- Being able to take the advantage of controlling Ace
- Being able to be the same class as everyone, possibly getting revenge on Cassidy and her barbie army
- Making my parents proud again, if I said yes
-Â Being able to live in a big house
- Â Lastly taking advantage of their wealth, but that would be mean considering they're a nice family, minus Mr. Arrogant, so its a positive and a negative
Negative
- Being laughed at or hurt by people if they found out I'm the one married to Ace Daniels because all the girls will hate me, maybe even killed by them
- Having to be around Ace
- Getting surrounded by rich and snobby kids
- Possibilities of having to go to social parties with rich people
- The thought of actually becoming a wife, even if temporary
My lists were both equal, but why does it feel like I'd upset the whole world if I said no? Without looking, once again I bump into someone. When I look up, I'm surprised to see Ace Daniels, staring emotionless at me.
"Is it my fault again?" He bluntly asks but I'm too mesmerized by his looks; he has brown hair that is styled in a sexy and messy way. The beautiful blue eyes, those pink lips, and soft skin that you'd want to touch. He stood taller than me. Maybe six foot three?
"I know I'm good looking but can you stop staring at me?" He frowns making me snap out of my deep thought.
I gave a scoff, "Whatever."
"Whatever? You're really going to say that to your future husband?" He acts as if he's surprised.
At this point I gape at him, he knows?
"H-how?" I stuttered, waiting for an answer.
"My old man told me yesterday after he saw our little mishap from the car," He spoke, sounding disgusted and annoyed, "And since we both clearly don't want to get married to each other, you should say no, because you'd be the last person I'd want to be seen with."
The way he said those words were like a slap to the face, in fact more than two, it was just plain out rude. The guy needs serious help. Thats when it hit me.
I've decided.
I'm going to make his life a living hell, just because he said that.
I'll take my sweet revenge on him.
