CHAPTER 49
The CEO's Contract Wife ✓
CHAPTER 49 : Safia finds out everything
----------------------------------------------------------
Safia twisted and turned around in bed trying to snuggle more into Fawad , but frowned when she found the other side of the bed cold . She opened her eyes slightly carefully to escape any harsh light but there was none . The bed was empty and the lights were closed . The only source of light were the tiny rays escaping the thick duvets covering the windows.
She looked around and then sighed squeezing her face in the pillow , where the fading scent of Fawad's perfume was .
She picked up her phone from the side to text Fawad to join her in snuggling for some more time, but frowned when she saw Ismail's chat .
15+ miss calls
3 voice messages
14+ chats
"What is even happening" she whispered and started to scroll up to see the messages.
Ismail
Chimpo pick up the call I have something important to tell.
You there ?
Wake up !!
Finally I found the courage to tell you and you are sleeping .
Plz wake up for the love of God !
Gurl ??!!
Chimpo??!!!!
Okay , I will just type it up here , read it and be careful.
Step 1 : Read
Step 2 : Be careful
Step 3 : Run
So first of all something serious has happened , I will put it in the last but just know I ain't joking about anything rn .
Safia took a deep breath frowning at what was actually happening. She didn't bothered to open the voice messages realising that they must be telling the same thing which the texts are going to indicate.
I somehow can't shake off the feeling of guilt or anything after seeing you all happy with the murderer of our friend (not exactly but yes I do blame him) . Soo yes , on the day of your wedding, Kalyani died .
*Was killed by Rudhra
Safia clasped a palm on her face and quickly called Ismail without bothering to read the next two texts .
Soon enough Ismail picked it up as if he was waiting for that .
"You finally saw it right?" He asked taking a deep breath , he didn't knew what was her reaction or what will it be.
"You are lying right? Give call to her , I want to talk to her please " she desperately asked and the fear lingered in her heavy voice which felt like it will break down the next moment and Safia will start to sob.
"No, I wish I was lying , but no . Rudhra shot her dead" Ismail wanted to make it seem a bit less aweful than it truely was , but he found no other way. How could he sugar coat a murder ? And that too of his friend .
The voices of sobs started to come from the other side of the phone making Ismail sigh ," Chimpo, please calm down . I would have taken time to tell you this , but-" Safia quickly alerted to the voice , what else could go worse than it?
"What? Please don't hide anything anymore" she begged . She was sad and felt hurt that she was getting to know about everything so late.
"I won't, I don't intend to any longer either" Ismail truthfully said. "what I meant to tell was that, your father was actually beaten up by your father in law's men at night and they have even warned him to ask you to..." Ismail didn't knew how to say it .
"To what ?!" Safia asked in frustration. Her father was beaten up ?! He was an ill old man . How could anyone be that brutal to even beat him up.
"To bear a son to run the family, the men went further to even say that if could be either of the two brothers . Seth or Fawad, your father in law doesn't care" Ismail's voice was wrapped in sympathy , but he wanted to convey the message.
Safia was speechless as tears just fell down her eyes.
"Mr Siddiqui knows about it?" Her only hope was Fawad to seek justice .
"How could he not know about the crimes of his bestie and his own father ? He must have been hiding this all from you so that you can just get him what he wants" Ismail told him.
"It's all a lie!" Safia cried out. "Mr Siddiqui-he-he won't ever! I repeat ever betra-y me " Safia confidently tried to say even with her voice breaking as she sobbed.
"I don't know anything anymore Safia but to ensure your safety, I just sent him papers telling that you were actually barren. If he truly loves you he will support you and help you get justice, otherwise...you just know" Ismail told her.
"You are testing him?!" Safia asked in horror.
"Yes, for you . For your safety " Ismail told her and she didn't wasted a moment in cuting the call . She stood up and quickly ran downstairs wiping her own tears and clearing out the air .
Fawad jumped in the fire for her , what more test could he give ?
She ran in the hallway looking for her husband. She opened the doors of almost every room peeking in them to find him , but she didn't found him . Finally , she walked quickly towards her last ray of hope.
The study room .
It was the same room where she met Fawad earlier too . There was a shelf of books on the side and a chair with table . She opened the door , and it felt as if she was brought back to the very first day she met him .
He was standing and looking outside the window as his back faced her . Hearing the voice of the door he turned around standing in his grey coat . His eyes knitted in a frown as he saw her condition.
Eyes were reddish with tears and her nose and cheeks were crimson and glistening with tears. He was about to reach near her to hold her but he stopped closing his eyes taking in a deep breath.
Today was the day of confrontation.
"Safia-Let's get a divorce" he tried to mask his emotions and hide how much his heart was hurting after even saying those words . But she was very dear to him and he couldn't afford getting her hurt.
"My assistant has transferred the money I promised you in your bank account . Just sign these papers and grab your stuffs to leave" he ordered coldly , yet he couldn't bring himself to actually look into her eyes as he said those words.
Safia stared at him .
"Okay"
What else could she say ? She could throw a tantrum or cry and beg in his arms if it was for love , but it wasn't. Seeing his love just ceasing to exist this quickly made her realise how temporary life and it's connections were.
'Just an okay?' Fawad thought to himself as he saw her quietly signing the papers and leaving the room . He stared at her signatures for a good long minute . Maybe she wouldn't have been affected by his death as much as he thought. His vision blurred a little and Safia's signature felt blurry to his eyes , he rubbed it but it didn't helped much .
To get rid of the sudden vision loss , he started to look around at things which were looking a bit blurry . He closed his eyes and took it a sharp breath and opened his eyes . This time his vision was fine .
He stared at the paper again , as his heart ached . Tears whelmed upon in his eyes as he stared at the signature .
Everything was over .
The situation wasn't better upstairs either . With shaky hands Safia was packing her stuffs .
The clock voice rang in the silent room. It was exactly 12 pm . She stared at the hands of the clock stopping at the same numbers and gesturing that maybe her fantasy was over . The midnight had come and it was time to say goodbye to her fairytale .
Everything was too much to bear today .
Her friend died . Her father was injured and she lost her husband.
If it was few months ago, she would have carried this burden on her shoulders but not now . She was now used to the easy life which Fawad made for her . To solve any problem, her simple approach was to reach out to him and magically he would take care of her worries .
She was missing him . He was downstairs yet too far away for her to hold . The only person she wanted to talk about the divorce was with Fawad Siddique himself.
"It's alright" She breathed out as more fresh tears rolled down her eyes and fell down her chin. It wasn't alright, and she hardly believed that anything would now ever be alright.
She opened the cage of the bunny and took one with her , leaving the other one for Fawad . Perhaps the rabbit could remind him of the beautiful night they spent together. And just maybe , in future it could become a string which could bring them together.
She didn't know anything, but wanted to stick with the hope , because how could she even detach herself with all the memories of Fawad and herself ? Millions of questions were in his mind and the answer remained unknown.
She took her suitcase and started to go just outside the mansion when someone's voice interrupted her from behind.
"Wait"
She frowned at the source of voice . It was Mrs Siddiqui. Fawad's mother . And certainly not someone she wanted to deal with.
"Guards , check her stuffs . Make sure she doesn't take anything else than what is brought by my son for her " She ordered the guards who looked at each other with hesitance. They knew how Fawad treated Safia , if he ever got to know about it , they were sure he would personally take on the duty to detach their hands from their torsos.
"You won't check? You have a death wish?" Mrs Siddiqui glared at them seeing them stick to their places.
"Why will I steal?" Safia asked in confusion.
"Because...now your golden days are over , you will be returning to your sewer or whatever slum you live in . Stealing things from the mansion is the first thing you gonna do and I am sure of it " Spiting her words like venom, Fawad's mother turned to the guards "And you both , check !!" She shouted and they quickly rushed and started to check Safia's goods.
Safia clenched her fist staring at the guards going through her stuffs and held the rabbit in her embrace. She didn't wanted to fight or create a scene . Her heart was heavy with many burdens already, so she let them have their way today.
"There is nothing" One guard declared.
"Nothing?" Mrs Siddiqui kicked the stuffs from her feet as they laid on the ground , "hmm, I see, but still, I am not very sure that this bag was brought for her . So just get any plastic bag or polyethylene for her to carry her stuffs " Mrs Siddiqui said with a slight smirk playing upon her lips.
Today was the time when she could finally get revenge from Safia and she wasn't gonna leave it anytime soon.
"Just bring whatever it is . I can't stay here any longer" Safia told them . Even standing there seeing the mansion was suffocating for her . This disrespect was nothing in front of the suffocation she felt.
Silently one guard went inside and got a strong polyethylene and silently started to put Safia's stuffs in it.
"You seriously want to die . Don't you?" Mrs Siddiqui asked the guard who gulped.
"What happe-ned ma'am?" He asked in fear.
"Why are you doing her work?! Let her get on her knees and pick up the stuffs ! And you," she stared at the other guard "You should follow me inside and get me some juice " she said and walked in the mansion.
"I, I am sorry ma'am" the guard apologized to Safia .
"It's fine, I am not your ma'am anymore . Thanks for being this kind" Safia whispered , but it was loud enough to be audible by the guard who passed her a sympathic look and again rushed at his job to stand and guard.
Meanwhile Safia silently put the stuffs in a polyethylene bag ignoring all the words which were said to her by Fawad's mother .
But one word caught her mind , sewer .
She bitterly said "So what if I live in sewer or slum , we poor people are far better than you rich ones with fake lives and masked intentions".
She started to get up from the ground carefully enough, while still holding the bunny in her one hand , when she saw a pair of stitched black shoes in front of her . She started at that person , and found that it was none other than...
To be continued...
