The CEO's Contract Wife ✓
CHAPTER 29 : Drenched in Love
-------------------------------------------------------
Augustus came home , drenched in rain . He rang the bell , and Zeheb opened the door . She was dressed up in her golden saree and her hair fell down till her waist . The glittery eyeshadow , gave her skin the same texture that a sun does on the dark desert .
Zeheb came in for a hug , like she usually does and Augustus put his hand on her shoulder stopping her.
"Even I want to hug you darling , but I am afraid my drenched clothes will ruin the look of your dress" Augustus told her and she just came closer to him .
"I don't mind that" She bit her lips to control her shyness at the thought of being this bold and flirty.
The thing with flirting isâIts easy to do with people you have no feelings for . Because when we get feelings , the darn heart won't cooperate . It will beat the other person as if he's the sole reason for them to be on the earth , and if it wasn't bad enough , then just know that the heart doesn't go on the vigorous beating quest at something big , or even normal . It can start even at the sight of the person , and that's exactly what happened with Zeheb .
"But I do-you put efforts in this look . Give me 10 minutes, I will be back just in time , and give you a lot of hugs and pecks" Augustus told her and walked inside to change .
Zeheb gave him a flying kiss , he smiled and returned those .
'He's so nice , I really hate how he works for that Khalid. But don't worry gus , I am going to fight for our happy ending and kill your parents , Khalid , Fawad , Rudhra-wait not Rudhra if Kalyani is into him , but yeah everyone . So that nobody can manipulate you into something bad and we live happily ever after ~' She thought dreamily while bringing her palm closer to her cheek .
------
"Why isn't anyone here?" Safia asked Fawad as they finally reached the hall.
"Maybe because the location is far away and the rain isn't allowing them . It's a good thing , the party will last overnight , so we can meet some people till the morning" Fawad told her , while secretly hoping nobody shows up .
"If it's actually like that , why don't we go outside till then ? It's raining we can walk sometime" Safia told him.
"Bathing in rain? you will get ill and your dress will get wet " Fawad told her .
"No , not bathing , just walking" Safia told him.
"We can do that if you like it" Fawad told her . He didn't actually liked the rain . He found it was unnessarily romanticised , when all it gave was a sore throat and headache to him .
"We will just do it , if you would want to do the same too-otherwise we can always find something else to do-or pass our times with"Safia told him and as always her eyes crinkled from the side .
The way the corner of her lips went up , forming a smile line, letting her cheeks look a bit fuller just made him feel at peace .
"No need , let's go and enjoy the rain" Fawad grabbed her hand , and started to go out . The staffs saw that but they didn't dared to interrupt him .
Fawad and Safia went out . There was a stand outside the castle , where the umbrellas were put . Fawad was about to take one of the black umbrella, but then his eyes fell on a powder blue one . The one which Safia loved and adored. He took it in his hands and put it over his head and Safia's too. It was big enough to cover them both .
They both walked on the empty roads , and Fawad felt it was difficult to keep up with Safia's steps . One moment , she went to the right side uo see a flower on the right side of the road , and the other moment , she went to the left side , looking at the small houses across the streets with their lights on.
"Mr Siddiqui !!"Safia called him and he looked at her .
"Yes ?" He asked.
"Do you like poetry?" She asked him.
'No I don't' He thought.
"Yes , I do" He answered.
"Can you tell one to me ? Or any quote from any book you read ? I have heard that when a couple spend some time in the rain walking reading poetries to each other , it's a love language" Safia told him , while secretly hoping that he caught the message , that she actually likes him .
She couldn't just tell him that directly , so she decided to drop hints .
"I can certainly tell you one. Let me think" Fawad told her and started to ponder , making Safia look at him in disbelief.
"It's a one by Lang Leave . It's a quote from her book , If you came to me with a face I have not seen, with a voice I have never heard, I would still know you. Even if centuries separated us, I would still feel you. Somewhere between the sand and the stardust, through every collapse and creation, there is a pulse that echoes of you and I.
When we leave this world, we give up all our possessions and our memories. Love is the only thing we take with us. It is all we carry from one life to the next" Fawad looked at her , and his face was sincere. He meant all the words he just read to her , and just then he realised , after meeting Safia , all the poems and romantic books , now made sense to him.
"It's a nice quote"Safia shrugged off feeling sad that he didn't actually understand her signal.
'Did she really not got the hint that I was talking about her?' Fawad thought to himself.
"Give me a minute" Fawad handled he the umbrella and walked in the rain. To go to the side . He pulled out his phone from his pocket and without any second thoughts , he called Trojan.
After 3 rings , she finally picked up the call.
"Hello Fawad" Sabrie asked while munching on the popcorn .
"Hello Trojan , I need a help" Fawad said and she quickly put the packet of popcorn away and walked towards her laptop .
"Go ahead" She said with seriousness.
"Are you good with love?" He asked her and she chocked on the popcorn.
"Fawad ,I don't take you in that way" She said awkwardly.
"Disrespectfully , I would never want to be with you . But that's not my main point , I was asking for someone else" Fawad told her . And Sabrie took a breathe out in relief .
"Okay , so go ahead. I suck at love, but I believe I can still do better on it than you and Rudhra" Sabrie boasted while munching another bite of popcorn.
"Whatever you say" Fawad scoffed and went ahead telling his problem.
"So she didn't got your hint?" Sabrie asked .
"No , what should I do ? I don't know if she actually likes me or is just for me because of the contract thing . I am confused , and I need to confirm" Fawad blabbered.
"Okay relax , why don't you go to her , and narrate her another poem , tell ,'You know Safia , why I narrated it to you?'" Sabrie said in a slight masculine voice.
"She will be confused and look at you , use that time and answer 'Because it reminded me of you , not only this , all the beautiful things remind me of you'" Sabrie dramatically said .
"Will it work?" Fawad asked.
"It should . She will know that you have feelings for her , tell me her reaction later , and then I will tell if she's genuinely interested in you or not " Sabrie told him .
"Okay. It better work" Fawad told her and walked towards Safia .
"Did I say something wrong?" Safia asked when he returned . She didn't know the reason he just walked away .
"No absolutely not . Why would you think that?" He asked.
"You just walked off" Safia said holding the umbrella close to herself .
"It's just - I had a call to attend . Nothing big" Fawad told her .
"Do you perhaps want to hear another poetry?" Fawad asked out of the blue and she gave a nod slightly to cut the thick air which built in between them .
"But first , get inside the umbrella you are drenched" Safia told him.
"I am already drenched , there is no need to use it now" Fawad told her , but Safia just put the umbrella over his head.
"If you are already in a pit, that doesn't mean you will fall further into it right ? Similarly the more you get drenched the more you will fall ill" Safia told him.
"Here let me dry up your hair" Safia told him , and pulled him across under the roof of a shop nearby. She put the umbrella on the side . Fawad was too stunned to answer anything , and he just let himself get pulled by her.
The glass was old and transparent almost showing the interior of the shop . It was a restuarant was cozy interior . Safia put her duptta over his head , drying his hairs up and removing the excess water , but her hands were getting tired , as she had to stretch them up . She tried getting on the fingers of her toe to get to him .
"Your dupatta, it's wet now" He pointed.
"It's fine , it's not a big thing . I have a similar dupatta, in the purse" Safia told him . She had a habit of accidentally spilling stuff over her dresses in parties , so she always carried out an extra dupatta.
The way she was focused on him drying up his hairs , he didn't protested . For the first ever time he realised , that even he craved attention. Not just anyone's attention, but Safia's .
But her difficulty in drying his hair made him worried . He looked around but there was not a single stool or box nearby , on which Safia could step up.
"You don't need to do it , your hands will ache" He told her.
"My hands are strong ! You know , when I worked in the grocery shop , I carried 2 huge cartons together" Safia said, but Fawad wasn't convinced.
He sighed seeing this , and wrapped his left arm around her waist . She looked at him with surprise and her dupatta almost fell down from her hand , but with the right one , he just put it on her body carefully arranging it.
"What are you doing?" She asked in a small voice . Their faces were an inch apart.
"Helping you" he replied and lifted her from the ground , this time with the help of both hands .
She blushed and just wiped his hairs from the side of the dupatta which was already wet by this time .
"There you go ! It's all done" Safia said lightly . She was still flustered from what happened few moments ago .
Fawad slowly put her down . She backed away , but winced and realised that her hairs accidentally got stuck in Fawad's shirt's button.
'Geez this darn hair !' Safia groaned.
"Give me a moment, I will remove it" She said and tilted her head trying to untangle it. Angrily she pulled her hairs , strongly enough to break a few strands, but it didn't untangle fully.
"Wait" Fawad told her , seeing her visible struggle and slowly removed it .
After 5 minutes , when it was finally done , Fawad stared at her .
"See , it's easy , you just don't need to panic" Fawad told her and she gave a nod but then she broke into a laugh , seeing how her own dress was wet now . She laughed at their stupidity .
Fawad awkwardly scratched his nape feeling stupid , but seeing her smile , he ended up feeling light too , and burst into laughing at the stupidity of the moment .
Safia wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.
"But wait , we can't attend party like this now" She said with a frown realising how important it was for Fawad to attend the party afterall , it was to celebrate his best friend's happiness.
"It's fine , party isn't that important. I bet even Augustus won't have been here till now . Why don't we walk inside the shop ? And grab a dinner?" He offered.
He realised that the luxurious one wasn't the best one always . He could have spent hours in the expensive party , but never had the amount of fun , he had with just a simple walk with Safia . On top of that , he still wanted to try out Sabrie's plan.
"Sounds great, but still give Augustus a call and confirm it" Safia told him and he gave a slight nod.
-----------
Hesitantly the man opened the door of the room . Fear was deeply engraved in his heart . The creaking voice of the door , made a chill crawl down his spine .
He walked inside the huge room . There was a strong smell of the toxic liquor which the man sitting in the room drank . The silhouette of a man sitting upon the bed was visible .
"Sir-"he called out and the man looked up , revealing his face under the light casting inside from the outside of the window .
"What happened ?" The man asked in a slurry tone.
"I have 2 news" He said with fear.
"Good ?" The man asked.
"No sir" The guard said in a low voice.
"What happened" the anger was evident from the man's tone.
"Young master was seen smiling with the girl , he-he even stepped in the rain and went to some cheap restaurant to spend time with his wife" The guard fearfully said and the man shot a glare.
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I RAISED HIM FOR!" Khalid's voice rang in the walls of the big mansion's room , and the man flinched and backed away.
"What should we do now?" The guard asked.
"I will do whatever is required now. Fawad really forgot what happened the last time , he decided to step outside the boundaries I set up for him" Khalid laughed hesterically.
It was to remove the bitterness from his heart .
'All my work is now wasted , because if that street rodent I let near my son' Khalid scoffed .
'I can't let it happen . She will meet the same fate as his darn friend . If not same , then worse. Bad enough for Fawad to feel scared every time he even thinks of loving any single person' Khalid thought to himself .
"And sir-Something happened to your cousin Mr Ahmed Siddiqui" The guard's words made Khalid look at him , breaking his train of thoughts.
He didn't asked him any questions, but his eyes were enough . It looked at him as if asking him to continue.
"He was found dead near a park, dressed up in a yellow frock and glitters were injected in his veins" The guard said and Khalid's temper knew no limits and he shot down the guard to control his temper . One bullet after another .
For no absolute reason , except for being the bearer of the bad news.
"Z IT'S HIGH TIME YOU START PRAYING THAT YOU DIE BEFORE I FIND YOU , BECAUSE THE DEATH I WILL GIVE YOU WILL BE MORE PAINFUL THAN ANY DEATH I HAVE GIVEN ANYONE" Khalid shouted , feeling pain in his heart , remembering all the moments he spent Ahmed.
To be continued....
