Chapter 8
Bride of Mr.Billion
Bellaâs POV: âWould you like to have dinner with your friends?â Asked Gary suddenly. Just then, Hank drove the car over. âMy friend is here!â I said quickly. âBoyfriend?â âNo, itâs just... an ordinary friend.â I quickly denied. Bella, why are you blushing? Are you shy? Gary continued to ask. I raised my head and accidentally met Herbertâs eyes. I instinctively lowered my head and quickly said, âGoodbye, manager!â I quickly sat in the passenger seat, looked through the glass, and then turned away. My personality is usually very direct and I donât hesitate at all. What happened today? I asked myself in my heart...
Early the next morning, as soon as I walked into the office, I was met with a serious look on Garyâs face.
âA few days ago, our finance department made a major mistake in the development project. We were asked to go there.â
âHow serious is it?â I asked nervously.
I spent half a month working overtime in the finance department to complete the plan. I was in charge of it. âI donât know either. Weâll know when we get there.â The director was also very nervous.
As soon as I walked into the office with Gary, Herbert angrily threw the twoâinch thick bag on the desk.
âHow do you work? How can you make lowâlevel mistakes? Do you know how important this project is to the company?â Mistake? The parameters were all taken care of by Joey. Her mother was seriously ill these days, and she was very anxious every day. She must have neglected it. âHow could the parameters be wrong?â The Gary was very surprised. âGo and check the situation of the companyâs employees this time. They have caused such a big loss to the company. We must chase them severely!â
Herbert was so angry that he unbuttoned his shirt.
âIâll go and investigate...â Without waiting for the report to finish, I immediately said, âMr. Wharton, I donât think itâs the time to pursue responsibility. Iâm just trying to think of a way to remedy the case.â
Joeyâs mother was still in the hospital, so she spent a lot of money. Joey needed this salary very much.
Joey is my good friend. I hope that I can help her. âMake up for it? How?â Herbertâs tone was very serious.
12:21D The director lowered his head and explained to me, âThere will be a bidding meeting next Monday, and itâs too late to calculate again.â
I lowered my head and thought for a moment. Then I looked up and said, âThere are still six days before the next Monday. Iâm responsible for the calculation.â
The director frowned and said to me, Bella, there are several major projects in the finance department recently. I canât transfer anyone to help you.
âI know, I believe I can definitely do it again before next Monday!â I promised. Joey couldnât live without this job. I knew it would take a lot of time to calculate again, but I still wanted to try my best.
However, Herbertâs face was full of contempt. âDo you think you can do it all by yourself in six days? Do you think youâre faster than a computer?â âIs the computer also man-made?â I whispered.
This sentence made the office immediately quiet down. Herbert stared at me coldly, and I immediately lowered my head. I knew that I was impulsive when I spoke.
.
A few seconds later, he said to me seriously, âWell, if you canât finish your account on Monday, you can leave the company!â I reached out to pick up the budget table and said, âUnderstood, iâll do it.â Anyway, I donât have a good impression of him. I donât think itâs possible for me to get promoted and get a raise in the future. Itâs better to let Joey stay. If I canât finish this task, I can change my job.
