Chapter 16

14. A party?

Her healer

Meera was working on her laptop sitting beside Aashrit when his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and went to the balcony to attend it. Meera sneakily looked up from her laptop and found him standing at the balcony talking on the phone with his back towards her. She swiftly took his novel resting on the bed. She looked at the cover of the novel titled JAAN and a smile formed on her lips.

"So he does like romantic novels." She thought to herself and felt proud to see the Author's name.

Before she could further examine the novel, she saw him coming inside and swiftly put his novel back in place and got busy on her laptop doing something.

Aashrit came back and looked at his wife writing something with so much concentration on her new laptop she got from Dadu.

He sat on his side of the bed and looked at her. On getting a look at her, he forgot what he was about to say and got lost in her beauty and those lovely expressions she was making. He looked at her thinned brows changing into blush soon. She swiftly bit her lower lip and smiled with a red hue on her cheeks. As her lower lip got disappeared under her teeth, a shiver went down his spine. He didn't know but he suddenly felt hot and he tightly fisted his hand to stop any incoming thoughts in his mind. His eyes went to her hands and saw her long slender fingers working on the keyboard and his mind suddenly went to the thought of how these fingers would look wrapped around........

Aashrit closed his eyes swiftly and shook his head to remove all the thoughts and opened his novel again.

"Jaan as much as I love to see you in saree, I can't wait to see you without it." He said removing her pallu and attacking her shoulder with kisses and leaving a hickey there. His hand went to her back and felt her blouse was backless. He felt uncomfortable in his pants and turned her swiftly. He looked at her exposed back with goosebumps all over her back. His finger itched to touch her back and he gave in. His hand traced her back while she arched her back feeling the hot tempting touch of his finger there.

Aashrit took a deep breath and shut his novel swiftly. It made a sudden noise which startled Meera and she looked at him. Aashrit swiftly put his book on his lap and looked at Meera looking at him with a scared expression.

"Sorry It was just........." he just went silent at the end while Meera didn't know what was wrong.

Meera just again focused back on her laptop while Aashirt leaned back on his bed and decided to look at her laptop , curious to know what was making her all blush. But to his bad luck, her laptop was slightly tilted to the other side making it hard for him to look into it. He decided to take a bath and then go to sleep.

As he was about to stand, he remembered something. He sat back and called Meera

"Meera ji" He called her taking her attention swiftly.

She looked at him with slightly wide eyes, and raised brows, again asking him to talk without saying a word.

"Some of my college classmates arranged a party tomorrow. It's for our marriage so we have to attend this. We will be leaving at 6 in the evening, so be ready till then." He said and left while Meera looked at his back and saw him entering the bathroom.

"What does he mean? Party? So many people? And that too those who are not of my class? What am I supposed to do there? What I am supposed to wear? How am I supposed to talk to them? Can't he go alone? Why did I marry? Should I deny it? Should I get sick tomorrow? Oh, God!! Why do I need to go out? Why can't I stay in this room for my whole life with my books, laptop, and unlimited supply of coffee?" All the thoughts ran through her mind and she made a bad face still looking at the same door where her husband just disappeared after giving her a piece of bad news.

She shut her laptop lay on the bed and got lost in her overthinking.

Soon, the door of the wardrobe opened and her husband entered the bedroom with wet hair and a new set of clothes. His hairs were still damp and his half-sleeved shirt was giving an outlook of the treasure he was hiding beneath. She averted her eyes before he could even notice.

He turned off the light and lay beside her. There was so much distance between the two but still, they were feeling the closeness.

"Should I wear a saree tomorrow?" After much discussion in her head. She finally decided to ask him instead of getting embarrassed or changing later on.

Aashrit looked at her side and saw her face shining in the moonlight sieving through the open balcony door.

"Everyone will wear western there. But you can wear whatever you want. Their dress code doesn't apply to me and it won't apply to my wife either." He said noticing a mole on her upper lip which was hiding so well on the upper side of her soft pink lips.

Meera turned to look at him and he moved his eyes in a swift from her lips to the ceiling.

"But won't we look different than others," Mera asked worriedly. She was thinking of mixing in the crowd but her husband seems to have different plans.

"We are already different than everyone else. And this party is for us, so we are supposed to look different and not mix with them." He said looking at the ceiling.

Meera felt a little disappointed seeing him not looking at her.

Meera also averted her eyes and looked outside at the balcony thinking about how she didn't want the attention from a crowd but it seemed, her husband was going to fail her.

NEXT DAY

Meera was sitting with Rashmi, and Anika talking about their family. While Rashmi was telling Meera about Aashrit and her siblings. Meera was enjoying their talks knowing about her husband who always kept one emotion on his face although she forgot that she wasn't better than him.

"By the way Meeru what are you going to wear today evening," Anika asked passing fruit slices to her.

"I haven't decided yet choti maa." She replied still confused about her outfit. Although she hid the fact from them that she was planning to make excuses for her sickness to avoid this party full of unknown people and her husband who doesn't even like to look at her.

Meera was in her thoughts when Rashmi held her hand making Meera look up at her.

"Come on !! Let's see what that stylist really did. " Rashmi said while Meera and Anika followed her to Meera's wardrobe.

Meera was confused about the stylist's comment her mother-in-law just made. She was looking at her confused.

Rashmi noticed her confused expression and giggled.

"You know your husband didn't let me or Anika choose dresses for you. He said that he already hired the best stylist in India to fill his wife's wardrobe. He doesn't want his wife to wear some old-fashioned clothes." Rashmi told her while making a funny face imitating Aashrit.

Meera's heart fluttered on hearing that he even thought about her.

"He called us old indirectly," Anika said with a small pout.

Meera pursed her lips to stop her giggle and looked at her mamma and choti maa going through her wardrobe.

"Bhai wasn't wrong though. I am glad he chose the stylist." Revati said entering the wardrobe, still in her hospital clothes.

"Oh, you got free so early today," Rashmi said taking the coat from her hand.

"Yeah badi maa, Now Bhai gave me the responsibility to get Bhabhi ready for today's evening party," Revati said tying her hair up in a bun and going straight to the western clothes section.

First of all, she brought out a dress which was thigh-high short with a deep neck. Meera looked at it and made a weird face, and, Revati put it back inside on seeing the look on Meera's face.

From the other side, Anika took out a dress which has a thigh-high slit with a round neck and long sleeves. Although the dress was beautiful Meera shook her head in no with a little guilty face.

Rashmi then brought out a beautiful bodycon dress which was to the knees and had cut sleeves but was backless showing the whole back. Meera again shook her head in no while making a pout.

She was feeling guilty rejecting their choices but she just couldn't wear them. After a lot of dress trials, She still was denying it.

"Bhabhi, give us the description and we'll find the best one," Revati said still in excitement just so Meera doesn't feel bad.

Although Meera was a bit unsure, she thought it was better than tiring them.

"Something which is below the knees and isn't backless." Meera just gave two descriptions and Revati and the other ladies gave her a thumbs up and again went on to search for the best dress to make her look pretty for tonight.
