Mason's eyes widen at my words. I don't know if he'll say it back, but I don't regret saying it, because it's true. I love him.

"Really?"

"Yes, Mason, you heard me. I love you"

The biggest smile spreads across Mason's lips, which makes me smile too.

"I love you too," he kisses me and relief floods through my body

I take the thing that Jade gave me out of my pocket and show it to him

His eyes move from my eyes to my hand and confusion takes over his face.

"Wait, is that what I think it is?"

I nod my head and bite on my lip as I meet his eyes.

"Where did you get it from?"

I look to the side and laugh, "Jade"

"Why?"

"Is this 30 questions or something?"

"No"

I sigh deeply before saying, "Because I was planning on using it tonight"

"You sure?"

"Yes, Mason"

"Like, 100% sure?"

"Yes, I'm ready"

"Are you absolutely su-"

"Are you?" I look into his eyes, challenging him

"Yes"

"How was your date?" Jade asks me as we walk through the corridors together

"Perfect," I smile as I pull my books closer to my chest, "perfect," I whisper

"So did you use what I gave you?" Jade teases by pushing my shoulder and wiggling her eyebrows

"Yes, and that's all I'm telling you about it. You get no details about it any further"

"Aw come on Lex, I'm your best friend and I deserve details"

"No. End of discussion"

"But-"

"Bye Jade," I turn around and look at her as I walk backwards, I blow her a kiss and then disappear into my classroom.

"You're no fun," I hear her mumble, which makes me chuckle

"Welcome Alex, you're late, please take a seat"

"Sorry sir," I look at the only empty seat in the classroom.

To.

Britney.

I sigh deeply and roll my eyes, before sitting next to her.

"Hey Alex"

Turning around, I look around the classroom for someone who could've said it.

"Hey Alex"

I turn around, raising my eyebrows at Britney.

"Uh, hey?"

"I need to talk to you after school, if that's okay with you"

"I don't know, if it's about Mason and I, I'm really not that interested"

"It's not"

"Then what's it about?"

"Meet me at your locker after school if you want to know, I'm not telling you anything else now"

I give her one last look, before starting on my math homework.

What does she want to tell me? Is it about Mason? Or about Caleb?

God, I'm so not in the mood for this.

"Mom?"

"What are you doing here at school?" I ask confused as I walk towards her. Luckily, it's not lunch break. I have a free period, which I'm very thankful for right now. Yeah, I'm kind of embarrassed when my mom comes to school.

"The police called"

"What? Why?"

She looks around, before saying, "the court day is in one week"

"What? They said it would at least take a month? I haven't even been to the police station after last time. I haven't had any time to talk with Connor's dad, there's so much that has to happen yet. Why is it so soon all of a sudden?"

"You know how they said that there would be police outside of the school? They saw Caleb follow you to our house yesterday. They suspect that if Jayden and Mason weren't with you, that he would've tried something. The police said that it is too dangerous to wait any longer."

My chest tightens around my lungs and it feels like the air is being knocked out of my lungs.

"Alexia, don't stress okay? I'm at school to talk with the principal about letting you off until the case is over."

"You don't have to mom. I want to go to school, I'll talk with Connor's dad after school and I'll go to the police station in the weekend"

"Sure? I understand if you want to stay home and I'm sure the principal agrees with me."

"Yes mom, I don't want to miss anymore of school," I say, as I'm trying to process that the case is in one freaking week and that apparently Caleb followed me home.

"Okay sweety, I'll see you after school. Be careful and don't go home alone"

"Thanks mom, bye"

I watch as my mom walks out of the school again and as soon as she is gone, I turn around and jog to where I was sitting, before my mom showed up.

"Everything alright, Alex?"

I look up at my biology teacher as he eyes the mess that's on the table in front of me.

"Eh, yeah. Sorry. I'm just looking for my planner."

He bends and grabs something from under the table, "is this the one you're looking for?"

"Yes, thank you," I take the planner from him as I give him a small smile

"No problem, good luck with cleaning up this mess," he smiles as he walks away

I take another look at the table and see that it's even a bigger mess then I thought it was. Grabbing my bag, I quickly shove everything –but my planner– inside of it, before someone else walks past.

With a pencil in my hand I start to write things I have to do, before I have the court case.

As I walk towards my locker, I already see Britney waiting there for me. Awesome.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" I ask as I raise my eyebrows at her

"Not here"

"I'm not going anywhere else with you, sorry, but I don't trust you"

"We don't have to go outside, just follow me to room 118," as soon as the words leave her mouth, she's walking away.

I curse myself for going after her.

"Okay, so we're here. Now tell me what you want, so I can leave. I have more important things to do"

"I'm testifying"

"For who?"

"You"

"What, why?"

"Because I was there. In the house, where Caleb held you"

"I know"

"How would you know?"

"Because I heard your voice, but I've never been sure about it until now. Why were you there?"

"I knew Caleb was planning on kidnapping you again, before he did, he took me to his house. He wanted me to help him. You know, so I could get Mason and he could get you."

I open my mouth to say something, but Britney interrupts me, "before you jump to conclusions, I didn't agree with helping him"

"But why didn't you tell me what he was planning? Why didn't you go to the police? Sure, you didn't help him and I appreciate that, but you also kept quiet about it"

"I was planning on telling you, but you were gone before I had the chance to. Mason and Jayden had no interest in listening to me and I didn't know how to drive to his house or what his address was. He tried to persuade me into helping him multiple times, that's why you probably heard me more than once"

"Why didn't you go to the police?"

"Caleb threatened me. When I said I wouldn't listen to him, he, uh, he raped me. I know it's nothing with what happened to you, but I was scared. I'm sorry."

My heartbeat fastens and my mouth opens, "omg, I'm so sorry. I had no clue. And that's not nothing, that's horrible"

"It doesn't matter. I wanted to tell you this myself, before the police would tell you"

"We're going to put him into jail for a long time, Britney. I promise you"

She smiles at me and before she walks out of the room, she says, "I know you will Alex, you're a strong girl and I'm sorry for everything I've done."

"I'm sorry too." I say and watch her walk away.

Caleb. You're going down.
