Chapter 520

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 520:

“Why does Andrew believe that was his fault?” Madisyn asked. They had switched cars that day, and Zahir was protecting Andrew back then. Waylon’s voice became somber as he recalled the past. “But I feel I have to win the championship for him.”

Madisyn fell silent, her eyes focused on the dark night outside the window. When they reached their destination, they went back to different villas. Madisyn noticed the lights were still on in Andrew’s villa. Was he still awake? She briefly considered knocking on his door but opted to head back to her room to rest instead.

In his villa, Andrew stood quietly by the window on the second floor, his eyes on the roadside. The night seemed to engulf the entire city until the villa too was swallowed by darkness.

Over the next couple of days, Madisyn was tied up with work and practice since the national racing competition was fast approaching. Eventually, she found a bit of free time and realized it had been days since she’d shared a meal with Andrew. She decided to invite him to dinner.

As she arrived at the restaurant entrance, she spotted Andrew standing beside a familiar face.

“Madisyn, please help me! I have nothing to do with Betsey!” Jada’s voice was thick with sobs as she hurried over and clutched Madisyn’s hand.

Madisyn frowned. “What’s happening?”

“You don’t know?” Jada asked, surprised.

“No, I don’t,” Madisyn shook her head.

Just then, her phone buzzed. Madisyn checked it and saw a news alert. It turned out that when the police took Betsey away, she was in Jada’s company. The footage was posted online, and netizens quickly speculated, assuming Betsey and Jada were working together. Everyone was disgusted, and the news went viral, with the comment section filled with insults aimed at Jada.

“Wasn’t she the former Charity Angel? It turns out she’s a devil. Disgusting! How can someone like her be called an angel?”

“I saw her at the hospital that day. She was ‘helping’ those kids just to make Madisyn look heartless, but those kids were clearly trying to extort money. I felt let down by Jada at that moment. I never imagined she would actually help those kids in their scheme.”

“Jada, explain yourself. We’ve supported you for years. Why would you pull something like this?”

“Jada, your actions led to this! You owe us an explanation!”

The public was furious with Jada, hurling insults her way.

Jada, having never faced something like this before, hadn’t slept well in days. The hateful comments cut her deeply. She had expected Madisyn to take the heat, but now she was the one under fire. Betsey had been nothing but trouble. Tears filled Jada’s eyes as she spoke softly. “Madisyn, I have no idea why Betsey was in my office. Perhaps she mistakenly believed that joining forces with me to hurt you would work, but she was completely unaware of how close we are. How could I ever betray you like that?”

As she turned her imploring eyes toward Andrew, her voice quivered with desperation. “Andrew, you have to trust me. For years, I’ve poured my heart into charitable causes. There were times when I would skip meals just to donate whatever little I had to help those children in need.”

Jada purposefully spoke these words while Andrew listened. She knew Madisyn had likely crafted a kind and caring persona around him, and she wouldn’t let her own image crumble in front of him.

Madisyn exhaled softly, her voice carrying a tone of regret. “Jada, I’m really sorry. I honestly don’t know how to respond to all this.”

Disappointment darkened Jada’s expression. “Madisyn, we’re supposed to be friends. Are you just going to stand by and let me face all this criticism? When you were in trouble, I did everything to help you. Have you forgotten?”

Madisyn remained silent.

Jada quickly turned to Andrew, her voice breaking as she cried, “Andrew, is this what you believe about me as well?”

Andrew’s sharp features remained cold and unreadable.

Just as he was about to say something, Madisyn raised her phone, displaying it to Jada. “I’m sorry, but I can’t do anything for you. The evidence against you is…”

Jada’s eyes widened as she watched a video on Madisyn’s phone showing Betsey entering and leaving her office repeatedly. The blood drained from Jada’s face in an instant. The video struck her like a hard slap, fully revealing the falsehood behind her claim of not knowing Betsey.

“Do you think lying is fun, Jada?” A frigid, emotionless voice sounded from behind her. “Even now, you’re still trying to manipulate Madisyn’s kindness to fix the mess you’ve made!”

Jada shook uncontrollably, her mind blank, unable to muster any defense. Andrew, without a word, took Madisyn’s hand, threw a frigid glance at Jada, and led Madisyn into the restaurant.

Left alone on the deserted street, Jada felt the cold wind whip around her, sending chills through her skin. Hugging herself tightly, she collapsed to the ground, her thoughts spinning. Had it come to this? Once, she had been the queen of the local social scene, but now she had fallen to these depths. It was all because of Madisyn—every bit of it!

Jada felt the sting of tears but refused to let them fall. Wiping her eyes, she straightened herself, her expression hardening with resolve. The upcoming racing competition was her only chance. She had to win, no matter what, and restore her lost dignity.
