Chapter 518
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 518:
Just moments before, the crowd had been convinced that a girl so young could never be capable of murder. Yet now, they stood corrected, their gazes fixed on Emani, filled with a mix of disbelief, disgust, and revulsion.
Jada shoved Emani away instantly. She had actually hugged a murderer!
Emani stood frozen, a wave of disbelief washing over her. She never imagined there would be a surveillance camera in Madisynâs office. Her life was over!
Fraser swung a fierce punch that connected with her face, his voice erupting like thunder. âYou heartless brat! You took my sonâs life! You will pay for this!â
Emaniâs nose shattered, and blood gushed down her face. She met Fraserâs wrathful gaze and the horrified looks of the onlookers. In a sudden burst of frantic energy, she lunged at Fraserâs uninjured leg.
Taken by surprise, Fraser stumbled backward and crashed to the floor.
Emani made a desperate attempt to run, but a bodyguard seized her.
âLet me go! Let me go! I didnât do anything wrong! It was Bennieâs fault! He knew there was only one funding spot but insisted on keeping it all for himself!â Emani shouted, her voice rising.
The kids froze, wide-eyed in shock. There was a funding spot?
âWhat kind of nonsense are you talking about?â Fraser gritted his teeth.
âIâm telling the truth! Miss Johns promised a funding spot, but Bennie kept it from usâhe wanted it all for himself! Your family isnât even the poorest in the village; youâre just lazy and greedy! My family needs that spot more than anyone!â
The children began to get angry.
âBennie was out of line! How could he treat us like that?â

âEmani, what are you even saying? My familyâs the one struggling the most!â
Emani sneered, âStruggling? Your family? Your mother sells a child every year, raking in over $200,000 for each one!â
The revelation hit everyone like a lightning bolt. Could her mother truly sell her children?
The child who spoke immediately fell silent.
Fraser bellowed, âYou little brat! You think your family deserves that spot? Your fatherâs a no-good gambler, always stealing from others, and still canât scrape enough together for you all!â
The crowdâs faces grew even more complex. The revelations Madisyn had shared were nothing compared to the vicious accusations flying among the lives!
Emani yelled at Fraser and his wife, âYouâre the real shameless ones! Youâre the wealthiest among us, yet you made us come to this city to beg for money. If it werenât for you, my mom wouldnât have pushed to get that sponsorship!â
So, these parents had genuinely sent their kids out to beg.
The crowd fell into stunned silence. How could any parent be so utterly shameless?
Jada never anticipated that things would spiral out of control like this. Now it was too late to rein it in; the police were already on the scene. âFraser Palmer, youâre under arrest for blackmail!â
The cold clank of handcuffs echoed as they snapped onto Fraserâs wrists. His legs buckled beneath him, sending him crashing to his knees. âOfficers, please! I swear I didnât do it! I truly didnât!â
But the police paid him no mind, swiftly cuffing Bennieâs mother as well. Then they turned to Emani. âEmani Walsh, you are under arrest for murder!â
Emani remained silent, a wave of darkness sweeping over her as she blacked out. She felt utterly defeated, knowing there was no escapeâher fate was sealed.
The other children were also ushered away. Fraser struggled against the officers, his voice rising in fervent protest. âOfficers, weâre all innocent! It was Betsey who urged us to come and beg for money! I had no idea it was blackmail!â
âThatâs right! We were all tricked! Betsey was the one who led us here!â the children echoed.
Betsey? That name rang a bell for some folks in the crowd. Wasnât she the one whoâd gained notoriety for fraudulently obtaining sponsorships? So, these kids had been lured here by her?
Pury ignited in the hearts of everyone present. âUnbelievable! How could someone be so utterly shameless? She lost her spot because of her own rotten character, and then she tricked the villagers into extorting money? How can anyone be so heartless?â
âUsing Madisynâs generosity and then throwing her under the bus? Damn, people like that deserve to be locked up!â
Jada felt completely crushed, her meticulously crafted scheme unraveling before her very eyes.
A police officer said coldly, âDonât worry, Betsey Grimes will be arrested too!â
The children wailed as they were led away. The onlookers couldnât help but sympathize with Madisyn. âMiss Johns, youâre far too kind! We nearly fell for their tricks!â
âAbsolutely, Miss Johns! Too much kindness can easily make you a target!â
Madisyn let a faint smile slip onto her lips as she turned her gaze toward Jada. âJada, did you hear that? Being overly kind can really put a target on your back!â
All eyes quickly shifted to Jada, who had dashed in to assist the individuals without grasping the full story, inadvertently leading them to misjudge Madisyn. A flicker of disdain crept into their expressions.
Jada felt the heat rise to her cheeks. âIâm so sorry, Madisyn. I had no idea they were scheming to extort money together. I truly didnât mean to get it all mixed up.â
âItâs all right. Just learn from your mistakes. Next time, donât aid and abet the wrongdoers,â Madisynâs warm smile earned her approval from everyone around.
âNo wonder Madisyn is hailed the Charity Angel. Her kindness shines through, and she wonât let the mistakes of others ruffle her feathers.â
âAbsolutely, sheâs simply marvelous.â
Jada clutched her clothes tightly in frustration. This had always been her go-to trick, yet here she was, on the receiving end of the very scheme sheâd mastered? A deep sense of injustice washed over her, and Betsey was in no better shape.
