Chapter 501
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 501:
âYes, Jada is incredibly sharp.â
Hearing those words brought back a sense of confidence Jada hadnât felt in a while, lifting her spirits. She glanced at Madisyn with a hint of satisfaction. âMadisyn, youâve got to pick up on how to play cards. When you tie the knot with Andrew, knowing how to play will be something you canât do without.â
Puzzled, Madisyn asked, âWhy is it so important to know how to play cards?â
âWell, these days, men usually dive into their work and focus on their careers, while women often handle things at home. Andrew will most likely be busy building his professional life, so youâll probably spend more time at home mingling with other wives. When that happens, there wonât be much else going on except card games. Believe it or not, these games can hold quite a bit of sway in social circles,â Jada said sincerely, as though she were sharing valuable advice she had picked up from Mara.
âOh, really? I had no idea,â Madisyn responded with genuine surprise. âMy momâs never been much into card games,â she added, her curious look highlighting the gap in their mothersâ social statuses. Elaine had the luxury of playing cards whenever it suited herâor skipping it altogether if she wasnât in the mood. Mara, by contrast, was Estebanâs second wife and didnât command much respect in their social sphere. She was constantly seeking ways to cozy up to other affluent women, attending events in an attempt to fit in.
The meaning behind these words wasnât lost on anyone, and suddenly their looks took on a more knowing quality. A wave of embarrassment washed over Jada.
âDamn it, Madisyn!â She had been trying to offer some advice, and Madisyn just had to say something like that. Hmph, just because the Johns family had influence didnât mean Madisyn carried the same weight.
âSure, there are plenty of things we do in our circle besides playing cards, but card games are definitely the most common, and anyone can take part. Iâm just being thoughtful here and giving you a heads-up. Itâs not something I mention to just anyone,â Jada added with a playful tone.
âBut Iâm not aiming to be a stay-at-home wife,â Madisyn replied. âIâve got my own career to focus on.â
âYour career? Well, your career isnât exactly on the same level as Andrewâs,â Jada said. âOnce youâre married, someoneâs going to have to handle things at home, Madisyn.â
âWhy does it have to be Madisyn?â she shot back.
âWho else would it be? Andrew?â
Jada chuckled. Madisyn was being so naive.
Andrewâs deep voice interrupted the conversation. âActually, Iâll take care of the house.â
The room went dead silent. Andrew⦠was he really serious? He was clearly pampering Madisyn far too much. The room filled with envious glances in her direction.
Madisyn gave Andrew a warm smile. âItâs not just going to be you handling everything at home. Weâll share the responsibilities. Thereâs no need to stick to traditional roles.â
âAbsolutely right,â Andrew chimed in without hesitation, his voice filled with warmth and affection. This only fueled the envy and jealousy in the room.
âMr. Klein really spoils her, doesnât he? With all that money, he still treats Madisyn like a queen. Iâm so jealous.â
âMadisynâs amazing in her own right, though. Theyâre totally perfect for each other.â
Jada nearly clenched the cards too tightly in frustration but managed to keep a smile on her face. âIâm so jealous of you, Madisyn. Youâve got such a supportive boyfriend. Meanwhile, Iâve had to push forward in my career all on my own.â
Wesley was quick to reassure her. âJada, you are nothing like Madisyn. Youâre strong and independent, and thatâs what I respect most about you. Youâre not like someone who preaches gender equality but still depends on her man.â
âEveryone has their own ambitions and paths,â Jada muttered softly.
âWhat are you even saying? Madisyn runs Edge Entertainment way better than you manage your business,â Susan couldnât help saying.
âThatâs ridiculous. Are you misleading people to think your company is doing great? If it werenât for your friendsâ investments, who wouldâve even heard of it?â
Susanâs harsh words tore right through Jadaâs carefully maintained facade.
Jada bit her lip, shooting a sharp glare at her. Werenât Madisyn and Susan on bad terms? Why was she even here? Then she spotted Dane nearby, and it all clicked: Susan mustâve come along with him.
âSusan, I wasnât implying anything. Arenât you overreacting a bit?â Jada replied, her expression concerned. To the onlookers, it would easily seem like Susan was starting a confrontation.
âOh, really? You go around bragging about being independent while suggesting Madisyn relies on her boyfriend. Itâs hilarious. Did you forget how hard you tried to go after Andrew? He never had any interest in you!â
The room went completely silent.
Susanâs words were incredibly harsh.
Wesley jumped in to defend Jada, saying, âSusan, keep quiet! This isnât for you to comment on. Jadaâs better than you, no matter what you say.â
âOh, really? I canât wait to see how she does in the upcoming perfume-making competition,â Susan shot back with a sneer.
Jada flashed a confident smile. âOkay, Susan. I look forward to seeing how you perform as well.â The tension between the two of them was palpable.
âLetâs just get back to the game,â Jada said, eager to stop wasting time in this pointless argument. She was more interested in winning some of Madisynâs money. They were playing with high stakes, with each round starting at about one hundred thousand. If Jada played her cards right, she could easily walk away with more than two hundred thousand in just one round. If things kept going her way, by the end of the night, she could rake in over ten million, setting a new personal record. The onlookers buzzed with excitement. They had never witnessed Jadaâs card-playing skills in action before, and the thought of her winning so much in a single night was truly impressive.
