Chapter 167
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 167:
At the hospital, Madisyn had accompanied Susan for a full examination. Thankfully, everything was normal.
âIâve told you Iâm fine,â Susan said, gripping Madisynâs arm firmly. âIâm more worried about you. The Cruz family has always been entangled with gangs. Now that youâve struck Asher, they wonât let this slide. You must inform your family once you get home.â The Johns family would certainly protect Madisyn.
Patting Susanâs head gently, Madisyn reassured her, âSilly girl, donât fret. Itâs only the Cruz family.â
Susan was puzzled by her dismissive attitude. Only the Cruz family? Even the formidable Santos family avoided clashes with the Cruzes in Gemond.
âIâm sorry for dragging you into this. Iâll take you home. You need to rest,â Madisyn apologized, feeling guilty for the dayâs troubles.
âIâm fine, really. Look at me,â Susan asserted, patting her chest confidently. âYou donât need to take me home. Iâll grab a taxi. Youâve had a rough day; you better head back. Just let me know if anything happens.â
Since Susan was adamant, Madisyn didnât press further. As she watched Susan leave and was about to hail a cab herself, a voice called out, âBaby.â
Startled, Madisyn turned just in time to be swept into a warm embrace. Strong hands gripped her shoulders as the man examined her anxiously.
It was only then that she saw Andrewâs handsome face. His usual composed and frosty demeanor had given way to visible concernâa rare sight.
âWhatâs wrong?â Madisyn asked.
âAre you okay?â Andrew asked, guilt evident in his tone. âI should have attended the high school reunion with you. Who hurt you?â

âIâm fine.â Realizing his misunderstanding, Madisyn quickly clarified, âMy friend was injured. I brought her here for a checkup. Iâm perfectly okay.â
âReally?â Andrewâs worry didnât fade until he saw that she was unharmed. His expression then shifted back to his usual stern demeanor. âWhat happened?â
Madisyn remembered Asher mentioning that his father knew Andrew, so she shared the incident with him, curious about any connection.
âThe Cruz family? Iâm not familiar with them. I guess they want to cooperate with the Klein family, but the Kleins wonât align with such a minor clan,â Andrew stated indifferently, his voice dripping with disdain.
Madisyn knew that the Cruz family was no match for the power and prestige of the Klein family.
âDid someone from the Cruz family attack you? Iâll handle them,â Andrew asked, his tone protective yet commanding.
âYes⦠Well, I suppose theyâll come to me first. Letâs wait,â Madisyn responded with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Andrew, catching her playful mood, affectionately rubbed her head and escorted her home.
âBy the way, are you going back to Ansport?â Madisyn inquired as they approached the gate of the Johns family home.
âIt doesnât matter if Iâm a few days late,â Andrew replied casually.
âOkay, Iâll go in then.â
After Madisyn disappeared inside, Andrew walked back to his car, where he was immediately greeted by a call from his assistant.
âBoss, the plane is ready,â the assistant reported.
âOkay, letâs return to Ansport,â Andrew instructed with an air of indifference.
âYes, sir,â the assistant responded, though he couldnât help but feel a twinge of sympathy for Andrew. Why does he commute between Ansport and Gemond every day? It must be exhausting!
Inside the Johns familyâs house, Elaine was talking to Howard, who had a suitcase beside him.
âAre you leaving, Howard?â Madisyn asked.
In recent days, Howard had made a remarkable recovery; his skin had healed, and he could now stand and walk, albeit not very flexibly.
Howard looked at Madisyn and replied gently, âYes, Iâm heading to Ansport. But I can take leave every week, and Iâll be back often.â
âOkay.â
Then, Howard asked, âAndrew has already left. Did you say goodbye to him?â
Madisyn was taken aback. âHe left? Isnât he still in Gemond? We just met.â
Confused, Howard explained, âI attended the company meeting yesterday. He was at the headquarters.â The two exchanged puzzled glances but quickly pieced together what had happenedâAndrew had returned from Ansport.
A mix of warmth and frustration filled Madisynâs heart. Andrew always moved in silence, and she was often the last to know.
Understanding her turmoil, Howard added softly, âHeâs probably worried about you.â
âI know,â Madisyn sighed, realizing she needed to have a serious conversation with Andrew. His frequent travels must be exhausting him.
Elaine observed silently, her admiration for Andrew growing. She hoped that Andrew and Madisyn would have a happy ending, fulfilling the marriage agreement between the two families.
Back in her bedroom, Madisyn checked the company group chat. She noticed several colleagues in the marketing department showering Teresa with compliments. The others remained silent, cautious or indifferent. It seemed Teresa held more sway than even the director.
Madisynâs eyes narrowed. Teresaâs arrogance had gone unchecked for too long. It was time to put a stop to it.
