Chapter 160
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 160:
Dane was dressed in an exquisite blue suit that radiated a sense of delicacy and nobility. It was immediately clear to everyone that he was a man of wealth and distinction. Teresa was taken aback by his presence. He was incredibly attractive! Could he possibly be an artist at the company?
As Teresa was lost in thought, Madisyn was surprised. She hadnât anticipated Daneâs arrival. While Teresa admired Daneâs looks, suddenly someone tugged at her arm.
âTeresa, your brother is here. Speak to him quickly.â
The sudden jolt left Teresa feeling disoriented. Regaining her composure, she saw Liza, and was tempted to scold her. But Lizaâs gaze was fixed on Dane.
âTeresa, you must talk to Mr. Johns immediately.â
âMr. Johns?â Teresa felt like her brain was starved of oxygen. This charming man was Mr. Johns, the president of the company?
Lizaâs insistence made it hard for Teresa to breathe. She had never even met Dane before. How was she supposed to approach him? Would her supposed connection be exposed now?
As Liza pressed her, Teresa abruptly pulled her aside and whispered sharply, âAre you out of your mind? Lower your voice. Donât you know I keep a low profile here?â
Liza was stunned. Teresaâs point was valid.
When Dane approached Madisyn, his normally reserved demeanor softened noticeably. âAre you finished for the day?â
âYes.â
âLetâs go then,â Dane suggested.
Madisyn agreed meekly and followed Dane out. This development stunned Liza and the others. Liza eyed Teresa suspiciously, asking, âTeresa, are you really Mr. Johnsâs sister?â
The onlookers were also puzzled. âMr. Johns didnât even acknowledge Teresa just now, as if he didnât recognize her.â
âYes, and I think Mr. Johns and Teresa donât really look alike at all.â
âIs Madisyn really that close to Mr. Johns?â
Everyone was skeptical of Teresa. Taking a step back, Teresa felt her lie unraveling and wished she could just disappear. The mounting skepticism from everyone around her was overwhelming.
She stammered, âWhen⦠When did I ever claim that I amâ¦â
She almost revealed who she really was, fed up with pretending. But just then, she noticed Kian behind everyone. For some reason, she swiftly altered her statement, saying, âDidnât I already tell you about my brotherâs connection with Madisyn?â
Liza, full of suspicion, asked, âIs Mr. Johns really seeing Madisyn?â
âIâm not sure. Madisyn is nothing but a slut. She cozied up to me deliberately to hook up with my brother. But sheâs from a simple family. Their relationship has no future. My brother is probably just toying with her emotions!â Teresa folded her arms defiantly. âEnough with the rumors. I donât want more people finding out who I am!â
With that, Teresa stormed off, unwilling to endure any more scrutiny.
Damn it! She had nearly blown her cover today! Luckily, she thought fast and changed her statement. However, she was taken aback by how close Madisyn had gotten to Dane. Madisyn really was quite resourceful!
In the parking lot, Madisyn climbed into Daneâs car.
âDoesnât Liza know who you are? How could she dare to challenge you?â Dane inquired after learning about Lizaâs actions.
Reflecting on the whole situation, Madisyn was amused. âSomeone is impersonating me.â
âWhat?â Dane responded, his annoyance evident. âWho would dare do such a thing?â
Someone had the audacity to impersonate his sister? Was that person out of their mind?
âDane, donât worry. Iâll use this chance to gauge whoâs truly loyal to the company,â Madisyn reassured him calmly.
Dane grasped her intent instantly and complimented, âYouâre so clever, my dear.â
Madisyn looked poised and confident. She truly belonged to the Johns family. Madisyn gave Dane a reassuring smile. Then, her phone vibrated.
A message from Susan popped up. âMadisyn, thereâs a high school reunion coming up. Are you going?â
âI wonât be attending. It doesnât sound appealing,â Madisyn replied.
Susan responded, âWell, if youâre not going, Iâll skip it too. Also, did Giana contact you today? She reached out to me and asked me out, but after what I saw online, Iâm hesitant. She overstepped by plagiarizing your song. I havenât spoken to her since that news broke.â
Madisyn felt a surge of warmth. Susan was always in her corner.
Madisyn said, âIâm doing well. Letâs just forget about her.â
Susan said, âOkay.â
Madisyn didnât dwell on the high school reunion. However, someone was eager to stir up drama. Oddly enough, once Madisyn opted out of the reunion, a wave of rumors began swirling among her schoolmates.
They whispered that she was now a mistress, that she had fallen on hard times, that she had feelings for Gilbert, and that she couldnât bear to see Gilbert and Jenna looking so content together.
