Chapter 149
The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call
Chapter 149 The Intimate Hug
The words âYou might get it for free, but not everyone else,â echoed in Daltonâs mind.
Daltonâs typically cold expression softened ever so slightly.
âNo problem,â Dalton responded. His usual imposing demeanor softened in response to Wynterâs
words. âMax, pay up,â
Max nodded and immediately pulled out his bank card.
âMax, increase the amount,â Dalton said calmly, yet his authority remained palpable.
Wynter glanced at him before redirecting her focus to the compliant Max. âAre you two friends?â she
inquired,
Dalton didnât hide the truth. âHeâs a colleague from another office.â
Max quickly adjusted his posture and said, âWeâre colleagues from the branch office.â
Wynter didnât seem bothered. âWe canât take credit cards yet, but online payments work. Just scan this
code.â
Max shifted his gaze toward Dalton. He asked, âHow much should I pay?â
âDo you have to consult your friend about how much you should pay for treatment?â Wynter chuckled.
Max promptly paid ten thousand dollars. He believed it was a reasonable amount for medical
expenses.
Wynter raised an eyebrow at the transaction. âYou should bring in more friends like him
next time.â
Despite what she said, Wynter refunded nine thousand nine hundred dollars to Max. She
then tapped on the promotional board. âBone alignment is just one hundred dollars.â
Max was astonished. âJust one hundred dollars?â
As a Frendan, Max found this quite unusual.
Back in his hometown, even basic antibiotics at a local pharmacy cost several hundred
dollars.
âOh my, thatâs so affordable!â Max exclaimed.
As they bid farewell to their neighbors, Margaret, who had just arrived, wondered what was
happening. âWynter, is he in pain after the treatment? That doesnât seem right,â Margaret asked.
âHeâs marveling at the traditional medical knowledge passed down through generations,â Wynter
explained.
As Wynter reached for Margaretâs shopping basket, Margaret stopped her with a raised hand, âYou tally
up todayâs earnings and see if we need more supplies. Iâll have a talk with your boyfriend,â Margaret
instructed.
Max was stunned. He wondered when Dalton had become her boyfriend.
Wynter realized her earlier fib wasnât so smooth after all.
Her usual mischievous expression faltered, and she attempted to explain herself.
Then Daltonâs pleasant voice chimed in, âOf course, Grandma.â
Maxâs jaw dropped, and his expression dramatically shifted.
But then again, it wasnât surprising. Dalton had never really shown much interest in women.
Socialites or actresses, there were always plenty of people chasing after Daltonâs attention.
During Daltonâs recent inspection trip to Frenda, even Princess Savannah had shown
interest in hìm.
Yet, Dalton gracefully declined the princess and mentioned he already had a girlfriend.
Before this, Max had always dismissed it as an excuse. If Dalton truly had a girlfriend, how could Theo
not be aware?
Max glanced at Dalton and then at Wynter. If this news got out, it would cause a stir.

Wynter didnât worry about Maxâs view of their relationship. She smiled lightly and said, Grandma, what
do you want to talk to him about? If you have any questions, just ask me.â
âIf I ask you, will you be honest with me?â Margaret was sharp. âFurthermore, since heâs here in our
house, isnât it only fair for him to have a chat with me first?â
Dalton reached out and pulled
