CHAPTER 1152
The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call
Chapter 1152 Family
Yvette definitely hadnât turned over a new leaf. There must be something more to it. Wynter had people investigate, but nothing was found.
Now, Wynter understood why Yvette kept coming around. Besides wanting to leverage her connection with Margaret, the items in the wooden box were also her goal.
âGrandma, the first layer of this box isnât locked. Do you know what was inside?â
Margaret knew well. âWhen the old fortune teller gave this to me, he mentioned the medical and the Arcane Way books in the first layer could be read freely, especially by you. They are all unique copies.â
Suddenly, the dots in Wynterâs mind connected. No wonder Yvetteâs skills seemed endless.
It was because of the books.
Wynter looked at Margaret. She didnât like beating around the bush and decided to speak bluntly, âGrandma, I think I know who it is.
âSeveral people have visited your courtyard recently, but thereâs one youâre very familiar
with. Itâs Yvette Yates.
âShe had been using these medical books to practice acupuncture and treat people recently. Her medical skills are fine. Iâm just worried she might use the Arcane Way books to create a false reputation for herself.â
Margaret wavered slightly upon hearing this. In her twilight years, she longed to enjoy the happiness that family brought her and was therefore easily swayed by the younger generation.
Recently, Margaret had thought that Yvette was different from the rest of the Yates family.
However, she knew that this way of thinking could cause more trouble for Wynter. So, she didnât agree to any of Yvetteâs/requests and had subtly guarded against her.
Margaret hadnât expected that despite her precautions, Yvette would still find the items in
her room.
What Margaret didnât know was that Yvette had been reborn and knew exactly what
valuable items Margaret had kept hidden.
However, Yvettes had failed to open the inner layer of the wooden box despite having
studied it for a long time.
Nevertheless, the medical books were the most useful to her, especially since they were unique copies containing many lost acupuncture techniques. She had pieced together the knowledge bit by bit.
Yvettes didnât intend to take the Arcane Way books initially. But later, she realized that many people she knew were fascinated by the Arcane Way.
After all, who wouldnât want skills that could help them rise to the top? Knowing that she could predict major future events, she decided to take all of the books.
No one knew that when she treated Alijah with acupuncture, she had also used the Arcane Way skills taught in the book as suggested by the medium.
But of course, Yvette wasnât foolish enough to reveal all the tricks up her sleeves. The medium only provided ideas, while she was the one who executed them.
Margaret now deeply regretted her actions. She pounded on herself. âWhy was I so soft- hearted? I should never have let her into the courtyard.â
âGrandma.â Wynter stopped Margaret from hitting herself. âItâs not a big deal. Itâs just some basic books. The important things inside are still there.â
Margaret took a deep breath and decided to bring up something she had long wanted to
say.
âWynter, you donât have to worry about me being alone in my old age. I have never felt lonely. I might be softâhearted with them, but you shouldnât be. Just be yourself.
âIf you think someone deserves to be punished, do it. You must have known about Yvetteâs visit.
âI understand that you want to leave a family member for me, but look at where we are now. What is family?â
Margaret laughed, as if she had come to terms with it.
âShe came to me just to steal from me or use me to get to you. If thatâs the case, Iâd rather not have them around.â
âGrandmaâ¦â Wynter was about to continue, but when she saw Margaretâs unwavering gaze, she nodded. âDonât worry. I wonât be kind to them anymore.â
