Chapter 863
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife
Madeline could feel Jeremy pressing her. Hence, she grabbed his hand. âJeremy, do you trust me?â
âI do.â He did not hesitate before answering her. There was a gentle look in his eyes. âBut Linnie, let me share the load with you.â
Madeline told him after she felt his sincerity, âJeremy, everything will be taken care of soon. You just have to know that the reason I was cold to you is that I have some troubles I need to keep a secret.â
Jeremy was confused. Then, he asked, âLinnie, why wonât you tell me the truth?â
âI donât want to take the risk.â Madeline suppressed the urge to tell him that Lillian was still alive. âI canât risk it.â
Jeremy did not dare ask again after looking at the determination in Madelineâs eyes.
He held Madelineâs hand and placed it next to his lips before kissing it. âItâs enough knowing that thereâs another reason why youâve been ignoring me and giving me the cold shoulder.â
âWhen you find out, youâll be ecstatic.â Madeline smiled.
She believed that if Jeremy knew that their daughter was still alive, he would be over the moon.
Even though Lillian had never called him âDaddyâ before and she did not know that he was her real father, to Jeremy, it was already extremely meaningful.
âI think Iâm already ecstatic now.â He smiled and pulled Madeline into his arms to let her lean against his chest. âLinnie, I was so scared that youâll hate me.â
He still had remaining fear in his heart. Then, he caressed her cheek with his fingers before they lay down together.
On the tiny bed, he was lying on his side as he enveloped Madeline into his warm embrace.
âLinnie, whatâs going on with that Fabian Johnson guy?â he asked.
Madeline told Jeremy everything she knew without missing any details.
Jeremy immediately knew what was going on. âSo he was saying that to purposely steer Felipe away?
Why is he helping you?â
âBecause we have a deal.â
âA deal?â Felipe looked suspicious. âAre you sure someone like him will keep his promise?â
âHe looks frivolous, but at the end of the day, heâs still a businessman. Businessmen are all about money.â Madeline knew what she was doing, but when she saw Jeremy still feeling suspicious, she lifted her hand and touched his furrowed brows. âJeremy, trust me.â
Jeremy was still contemplating. However, at this moment, his attention and gaze were on Madelineâs body.
The bed was small and they were very close to each other. It was as if they could hear each otherâs heartbeat in the silence.
âLinnie, I love the way you say my name. Can you say my name again?â
Madeline was stunned when Jeremy made such a request. Then, she said, âJeremy.â
âHow nice.â Jeremy curled his lips and touched Madelineâs cheek. He could feel tears stinging the corners of his eyes.
âWhen you called my name back then, I kept pretending that I didnât hear you. I hate myself so much.â
He looked down at her face. Her bangs and long hair were intertwining together.
âMy wife is so beautiful and so smart. Plus, sheâs so gentle and kind too. Why did I keep pretending to not see those things?â
âDo you see them now?â Madeline looked into the manâs charming eyes.
âI do, and Iâm the only one who can.â He did not want her best qualities to fall into the eyes of other men. He wanted to keep them all to himself.
Madeline smiled. âJeremy, I thought I was the luckiest and happiest woman in the world when I married you. Even though you didnât look too happy when we got married, I was still ecstatic.
âI didnât expect that you were the one who asked for the wedding from Grandpa.â
âBecause I didnât want any man to steal you away before I could.â
He told her what he was truly feeling and made a promise to her.
âLinnie, youâll be the luckiest woman in the world. From now on, Iâll give you the happiness you want.â
âIâll wait. Iâll wait for you to make me happy.â Madeline held his hand, their fingers intertwining.
Jeremy lowered his head to kiss Madelineâs forehead before looking at her with love in his eyes.
Finally, he pressed his lips against hers.
Madeline was worried that she would hurt Jeremy, so she did not push him away.
She closed her eyes and kissed him back somewhat shakily. Their breaths intertwined in the air.
Madeline was getting pulled deeper into Jeremyâs embrace.
