Chapter 766
Bogus Billionaire
Caroline stood at the clinicâs entrance and pointed at the long corridor.
Gewn was on the verge of crying again. âWell, letâs go.â She took Carolineâs hand.
Caroline looked at Gwen suspiciously and followed her into the car. Along the way, she felt a pair of eyes watching her. She tugged Gwenâs arm and asked, âGwen, do you feel like someone is spying on us?â
Gwen immediately thought that it might be Kirk. It made sense. Of course he wouldnât leave just like that. Even if Michael told him that he couldnât let Caroline see him, he would find another way.
âI donât think so. You must be overthinking things. Let me take you back to my place for now.â
âHuh? Why are we going back to your home?â Caroline was puzzled.
âI havenât been home for so many days. Wouldnât my parents be worried?â
Gwen was about to snap again, but she held back this time. âI already told them you would be staying at my place for a while.
âBesides, your parents donât know about your car accident yet. If you go home right now, theyâll definitely be suspicious. Donât you think so?â
Caroline thought about it and felt that Gwen made sense. âAll right. Sorry to bother you again, Gwen.â
âFriends like us donât have to say that anymore.â Gwen grinned at Caroline and drove slowly to her home. Although she drove very slowly, her car quickly disappeared from Kirkâs sight.
Sean looked at the carâs tail lights and asked, âShould we follow them?â
Kirk pinched the bridge of his nose. After a while, he raised his head and spat, âNo.â
Sean hesitated to say anything in response. Was Kirk worried about being discovered if he followed them?
Sean sighed at the powerlessness Kirk felt. He was so close, and yet he couldnât do anything.
More than an hour later, the footage of the incident at the clinic was sent to Avery.
After Avery finished watching the video on her laptop, Finn crossed his legs and smirked under his mask. â
How about it? Are you satisfied with this outcome?â
Avery already had a wide grin on her face. âAbsolutely. But Iâm curious about something. What did you do to fan the flames and cause this?â
Finn smiled slightly. âWould you believe me if I said I didnât do anything?â
Avery retorted, âWhat do think?â
you Finn chuckled. âAs expected of the woman I like. Youâre both cold and clever. Youâre right.
He uncrossed his legs. âI did pull some tricks. For example, I instigated that Howard guy to barge into Carolineâs home with a gun and also helped Carolineâs cousin get to the venue.
âBut thatâs not important. So no one will notice my role in this, including my oh-so-smart little brother.
Besides, he may never find out since heâs totally focused on Caroline now.â
Averyâs expression turned cold at his words.
Finn noticed the change in her expression, but he continued, âOh, Avery. Itâs not too late to change your mind. Iâm better for you than Kirk. After all, weâre equally cruel and ruthless.â
