After getting encouragement, the agent spoke more confidently. “If the Hacketts publicly announce that they would invest in Collins Group, provided that Layla gets it, the bank would definitely take it into consideration. Then, they would definitely give it to Layla.”

Aurora frowned. “But why should I help her? We don’t have anything to do with each other.”

“Remember.” The agent approached Aurora.

“Several companies that belonged to Collins Group are related to the entertainment industry. They managed to expand their reach so much in a short period of time because of SY Group’s help, and SY Group belongs to Eddy’s second uncle.”

The agent continued, “If you use SY Group to get connections, you don’t have to worry about what happened today. Forget Rosalind; even if the director comes forward, you can ignore their comments.”

Aurora looked away silently, her eyes slowly lighting up with an idea.

After Caroline and Marietta finished their meal, they stood at the restaurant door to say goodbye.

Although neither of them said it, they knew it would be hard to see each other again after today.

“Yeah.” Caroline looked into the distance.

“That’s great. Did Kirk suggest you do it?”

“Yeah.” Caroline turned to look at Marietta.

“Aunt Mary, do you think I can get Collins Group?”

Even though she had the support of Eddy’s second uncle, Caroline couldn’t guarantee that she could get Collins Group. She felt uncertain at times. She didn’t know if she would succeed or fail in taking such a big step.

“I’m sure you can do it,” Marietta said firmly, looking into Caroline’s eyes. Her gaze seemed to be a “Why? I’m only Evans Group’s CEO. Forget Easton, Evans Group isn’t even one of the top companies in Osbury. The only advantage I have is SY Group’s endorsement.”

Marietta said with a small smile, “That is your biggest advantage, but you have another advantage that Layla doesn’t have.”

Marietta continued, “I had already seen that you had it when you competed for control of Evans Group. When the bank see both of your applications and sees that SY Group is endorsing you, I’m sure they will give you the rights to Collins Group.”

For some reason, Caroline felt her nerves calm down after hearing Marietta’s words. “Thank you, Aunt Mary.”

“I want to thank you too. If it hadn’t for you, I wouldn’t have found my daughter so soon. But..

Gwen was watching them nearby. After the two separated, she said, “Carrie, it’s time to go.

Caroline looked at the time and said, “Bye, Aunt Mary.”

Marietta and Caroline waved at each other. After Caroline drove away, Marietta lowered her eyes silently. She felt as if her heart had been gouged out.

In the car, Caroline felt awful as well.
