Chapter 625
Bogus Billionaire
The people Eddy had sent brought Caroline to her villaâs door. Then, Edith, who had been waiting for her, helped her inside.
As the driver watched Edith carefully help Caroline, he couldnât help but murmur, âSheâs pretty attentive in taking care of her, but itâs really strange that the man of the house hasnât shown up yet.â
Then, he drove the car toward the gate.
However, as he drove away, he didnât notice a car behind him parking in the spot where he had just been.
The next second, the carâs door opened, and Kirk strode into the villa. As soon as he entered, he hugged Caroline, who was curled up and crying on the couch.
Caroline desperately crawled into Kirkâs arms when she felt a warm and familiar embrace. Kirk stroked her back, feeling distressed.
He didnât say anything. He simply held her quietly. Right now, there was nothing more tangible than the companionship in silence.
Eventually, Caroline fell asleep, nestled in Kirkâs arms.
He felt heartbroken as he looked at her, who exhausted herself from crying. Jude meant so much to Caroline. She would probably take a long time to recover from something like this.
He gently picked her up and headed to the second floor. When he reached the bedroom, his movements became more gentle. Walking to the bed, he willed himself to be as soft and weightless as a feather.
Even though his movements were gentle, Caroline still frowned uneasily in her sleep when he placed her on the bed. She only relaxed her frown when Kirk leaned over and kissed her forehead.
Then, the nervousness in Kirkâs gaze slowly faded away. He sat by the bed, took his tablet, and began to deal with the issue about Howard.
As soon as Kirk turned on his tablet, someone called him. He glanced at the phone, but he didnât answer the call.
Eddy was calling him. Right now, Eddy was the last person Kirk wanted to see.
He was afraid that he wouldnât be able to resist killing Eddy. After all, Eddy was the to Kirkâs marriage to Caroline!
threat Kirkâs cell phone was still ringing. It would be unreasonable for him not to show up when such a big thing had happened.
After much deliberation, he decided to answer the phone for the sake of the big picture.
Eddyâs voice immediately came from the receiver. âUncle Kirk.â
Kirk glanced at Caroline worriedly before standing up and walking toward the door. When he reached the balcony, he asked coldly, âIs something the matter?â 1 As soon as Kirk asked that, Eddy couldnât hold back his grief anymore.
In the eyes of outsiders, he was the aloof and omnipotent scion of the Morrisons. He was a strong man who never showed his weak side.
However, he was still a human being who had moments of vulnerability, especially when his closest relative passed away. âGâGrandpa is gone â¦â
Kirkâs heart was in turmoil.
Although Jude had always hoped for Caroline and Eddy to be together, and he could hav potentially become an obstacle between him and Caroline, Kirk never thought of killing him to solve his problems.
They were still family, even if they hadnât seen each other for years.
Therefore, Kirk was still saddened by Judeâs passing. âI got it. Do you need me to do anything?â
