Chapter 615
Bogus Billionaire
The Morrisons had long been looking forward to Caroline bringing new life and increasing the familyâs numbers. That was why Edith had worked hard to make a nursery for Kirk and Caroline.
Wasnât it foolish of Kirk to get rid of that room? Even if they didnât need this room now, they would need it sooner or later.
âSir, listen to me-â
âIâm ordering you to get rid of it!â Kirkâs expression was already grim.
Caroline returned to her senses and gave Kirk a soft smile. âNo, itâs okay. Did you do this, Ms. Carter?â
âYes.â Edith dared not look at Kirk, so she answered Carolineâs question.
âMadam, do you not like this room? I can change it if you donât.â After being yelled at by Kirk, Edith had already forgotten what Caroline had just said.
âNo, I like it very much.â Caroline smiled gently.
She turned to look at Kirk and whispered, âI really like it. I mean that.â
Kirkâs expression noticeably relaxed at Carolineâs words. He said to Edith, âHead back downstairs.â
Edith was still confused, but she quickly nodded and left.
After Edith left, Kirk hugged Caroline sadly and said, âTomorrow, Iâll get the agency to redecorate the room.â
âDonât be like that.â Caroline sulked in Kirkâs arms.
âMs. Carter doesnât know about my inner conflicts. Sheâs doing this out of kindness. Donât blame her. Also-â
Caroline raised her head and looked at Kirk with bright eyes. âBetween you and me, I often feel some sort of maternal love from Aunt Mary.
âI donât know if sheâs projecting her issues onto me or if she really sees me as one of her own. But I always feel loved whenever Iâm with her.
âSo I donât feel as scared as before⦠to have a child.â
She looked at Kirk mischievously, feeling like she had him in her grasp.
Kirk pinched Carolineâs nose. âYou little devil. You must be so happy to know that Iâm worried.â
Caroline let out a whine, âLet me go!â
Kirk let go and trailed his hands to her hips. âThen, shouldnât you make it up to me?â
Caroline pushed him away. âIâve done nothing wrong. Your boss is clearly the one at fault here. If you really want someone to make it up to you, go to him.â
After that, Caroline strode toward the next room. Kirk had no choice but to follow her. The next room they arrived in was the study, which had been nicely remodeled.
Caroline excitedly pushed open the next door but was stunned when she saw the furnishings.
Kirk, who was walking behind Caroline, immediately noticed something was off with her.
He stood behind her, and his expression darkened when he saw what was in the room. He yelled, â
Ms. Carter!â
Edith heard Kirkâs noise from downstairs and responded, âIs something wrong, sir?â
âCome up here,â Kirk said sternly.
Edith thought carefully. She recalled to make sure that she hadnât made any mistakes. Then, she climbed up the stairs.
âWhatâs wrong, sir?â
When Edith saw them standing at the door and refusing to enter, she curiously looked into the room. This room was a nursery she had specially renovated.
âSir, is there something in this room thatâs not to your liking? If there is, Iâll make changes immediately,â Edith said excitedly.
However, Kirk rained on her parade. âGet rid of this room immediately.â
Edith froze for a long while before she stammered, âWâWhy?â
