Chapter 568
Bogus Billionaire
âDr. Yates isnât the issue here,â Caroline said.
Carolineâs words surprised Cheryl. âTâthen, does Gwen not like Dr. Yates?â
âThatâs not it.â Caroline didnât want to tell Cheryl about Gwenâs family issues. Even though she saw Cheryl as a friend, she wouldnât simply share another friendâs secrets.
âThen, what on earth happened?â Cheryl asked, scratching her head.
She couldnât understand why two people who liked each other couldnât be together. If Jack also liked her, she would definitely get into a relationship with him.
Caroline smiled and patted her shoulder. âYou silly girl, after you get together with Jack, youâll discover that love isnât a fairy tale. Itâs full of trials and tribulations. Things wonât be easy.â
Cheryl looked at Caroline and said warily, âCaroline, I donât even want to be in a relationship after hearing you say that.â
Caroline chuckled. âReally? Donât you want to be with Jack?â
âCaroline!â Cheryl stomped her foot, blushing.
âBut seriously,â Caroline stopped smiling and continued, âwhatâs going on with the two of you?â
âNothing is going on,â Cheryl sighed.
âI realized that Jackâs way of thinking differs from regular peopleâs.
âWhen he followed me home for dinner every day, the neighbors initially thought he was my boyfriend.
However, he would always tell them that we were siblings.
âNow, everyone in the vicinity knows I have a very strong brother, and they donât dare mess with me,â
Cheryl explained with a somewhat proud expression.
Caroline smiled. âThat doesnât sound so bad.â
âAs if!â Cheryl pursed her lips.
Blushing, she said, âI already have enough brothers. I even have dozens of cousins back in my hometown. I donât need another brother.â
Caroline mused, âWhy donât I test him for you?â
âHow will you do that?â Cheryl asked, tempted by Carolineâs offer.
Caroline said, âYou donât have to worry about that. But just to get this out of the wayâdonât blame me if things donât go as you expected.â
âDonât worry, Caroline. If he doesnât like me, thatâs his problem. I wouldnât blame you for that.â
Caroline nodded at her words and glanced at the entrance of the bathroom.
âHow strange. Gwen has been in there for so long. Why hasnât she come out yet?â
Cheryl said, âLetâs go in and check on her.â
The two walked into the bathroom and went to Gwenâs stall. When they opened the door, they looked at each other with helpless smiles.
Gwen had actually fallen asleep lying on the toilet. Damn it.
Caroline stepped forward and tried to pull her up. Unexpectedly, Gwenâs body was as heavy as lead. She couldnât carry her at all.
âWhatâs wrong?â Cheryl asked, realizing something was wrong.
Caroline said, âI canât pull her up.â
âLet me help.â Cheryl squeezed into the bathroom stall. They worked together to pull Gwen up, but they couldnât.
Furthermore, Gwen kept her eyes closed throughout their struggles. It seemed that she couldnât feel them at all.
âWait,â Caroline said, her heart sinking for a moment. She stretched out her hÃ¥nd under Gwenâs nose. When she felt her breathing, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She ordered, âGo and call Dr. Yates over.â
âBut this is the womenâs bathroom. He wouldnât dare come in here â¦â Cheryl said hesitantly.
However, Sean was still an internationally recognized doctor.
âHurry!â Caroline urged again.
âJust tell him Gwen passed out in the bathroom.â
Cheryl replied hurriedly. âOkay.â
Then, she ran out of the bathroom to get Sean Seanâs concern for Gwen was completely different from Cherylâs. After finding out that Gwen had passed out, he stood up and strode to the bathroom without any hesitation.
