Chapter 567
Bogus Billionaire
The atmosphere in the private room was lively and cheerful.
Chery! sat beside Sonia and kept asking about the entertainment industry. Sonia wasnât much of a gossiper, so she only talked about things concerning herself.
Meanwhile, Gwen had a drinkâoff with Jack. Jack was clearly a good drinker, and soon, Gwen drank until her face turned red.
Caroline noticed Sean hesitating a few times, as if he wanted to say something.
She whispered in Kirkâs ear, âHe obviously cares about her, but heâs pretending that he doesnât. I really donât get what heâs thinking.â
Kirk put a fish fillet on her plate and said, âIf you donât understand, just leave them be. Let the youngsters solve their own problems.â
Caroline smiled at his words. âIt sounds as if youâre calling yourself old.â
Kirk retorted, âIâm not old, but mature. Compared with them, weâre not as naive. Weâll actively find ways to solve our problems.â
Caroline quipped, âYouâre just tooting your own horn.â
âHey!â Gwen suddenly came over.
âAre you two done whispering sweet nothings to each other? If so, let me borrow Caroline for a minuteâ¦â
Gwen was obviously drunk. She was already slurring her words.
Caroline said, âYouâre drunk, Gwen.â
3 âNo, I just drank one bottle. Thereâs no way I would get drunk from that.â
Gwen shook Carolineâs arm. âWill you follow me to the bathroom?â
âOkay,â Caroline said. She wouldnât let Gwen go to the bathroom alone, either.
She called Cheryl, âCheryl, help me bring Gwen to the bathroom.â
âOkay.â Cheryl immediately came to help Caroline. Then, the two of them helped Gwen to the âFollow them if youâre so worried about her,â Kirk said coldly.
Sean, who had been watching Gwen this whole time, quickly looked away. He pretended to be calm and said, âIâm not worried.â
Kirk scoffed at his words, remaining silent.
Sean looked at him silently for a moment. Then, he admitted, âFine, I am worried about her. But didnât you tell me that our problem is unsolvable?
âIf I keep pestering her, she might become annoyed with me, and we wonât even be friendsâ¦â
Then, he took a sip of his wine. âItâs better just to cut my losses and keep my distance. Although I canât be with her, at least I can still see her face.â
âYou seem to have an open mind about this,â Kirk commented flatly.
Sean shrugged and asked Kirk, âWhat would you have done?â
Kirk tightly gripped his wine glass, remembering what Eddy had said to Caroline the other day.
He sneered, âI would never let something like this happen in the first place!â
No one could stop him from being with Caroline, not even Jude!
Meanwhile, Caroline and Cheryl stood outside the bathroom, waiting for Gwen. Cheryl asked Caroline with concern, âCaroline, is Gwen okay?â
Gwen had drunk so much. Furthermore, Jack was so dense. Cheryl had tried to signal him not to drink with Gwen anymore, but he hadnât been able to understand her.
As Caroline listened to the sound of Gwen vomiting in the bathroom, she pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head.
âIs she heartbroken?â
Cheryl whispered, âIâm really curious, Caroline. What happened between Gwen and Dr. Yates? I thought he treated her really well, so why did they break up?â
