Chapter 562
Bogus Billionaire
After Caroline was done, she looked at Eddy with a raised brow.
She continued, âDo you get it now? My husband is a hero to me, and our marriage is doing very, very well.
âItâs not something people like you can understand. So please donât try to drive a wedge between us anymore. Youâre just wasting your breath.â
Eddy looked at Caroline. All the words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat.
Then, he spat, âCaroline, Iâm saying this for your own good. No matter what, I hope you can properly think this through. Donât be stubborn!â
With that, he turned around and left. After taking a few steps, he turned back around. âBy the way, I forgot to tell you something.â
Caroline looked at him and asked, âWhat is it?â
âGrandpa has been in bad health recently. You should visit hi more often if you have time. Also, he really hopes we can be together, so I hope you wonât say such hurtful words when you see him.â
Caroline pursed her lips. After a while, she said, âIâll make sure to visit him.â
However, she didnât agree to Eddyâs second request.
Eddy was frustrated. He didnât know what to say, so he had no choice but to leave.
As soon as he reached the elevator, he saw Kirk sauntering from the other end of the corridor.
Eddy was very surprised to see him. He asked, âUncle Kirk? What are you doing here?â
M âIâm here to see Caroline.â Kirkâs tone was calm, and he had a dull expression. There was only a hint of mysteriousness in his gaze.
Eddy was very depressed. âUncle Kirk, can you go for a walk with me?â
Kirk pondered for a moment and hummed in assent. Then, the two men walked to the garden together.
Eddy covered his cheek in pain. âUncle Kirk, what do you think is wrong with me? Back then, I thought it was pointless for Grandpa to insist that Caroline and I be together.
âBut now, I feel very uncomfortable thinking about her being with another man.â
Kirk said indifferently, âPeople are always like this. They donât know how to appreciate something until they lose it.â
âWhat should I do?â Eddy looked at Kirk in pain.
Kirk said, âI advise you to stay away from Caroline.â
Eddy said reluctantly, âWhy?â
Kirkâs eyes landed on Eddyâs confused face. Then, he chuckled, âBecause you wouldnât cherish her after you get her back.â
Eddy didnât notice the hint of ridicule in Kirkâs eyes. He lowered his head and asked, âIs that really going to happen?â
Kirk remained silent, staring at Eddy with a hint of fire in his eyes.
After a long while, Eddy raised his head, his eyes still full of conflict.
âI think youâre right, Uncle Kirk. The reason I want Caroline is because Iâve lost her once. Maybe I wouldnât want her anymore when I get her back.â
The coldness in Kirkâs eyes disappeared to some extent. He stood up and patted Eddy on the shoulder.
âThatâs right, so donât think about Caroline anymore. Just keep your distance from her, and youâll slowly realize youâre not in love with her. You simply want to have her.â
Kirkâs words enlightened Eddy. He forcibly ignored his disappointment and thanked him.
âThank you, Uncle Kirk. Youâre really the guide on my journey. I would have thought I was in love with Caroline if it hadnât been for you.â
Kirk smiled cunningly, like a fox. âYou should go home, then.â
âOkay.â
