After Caroline was done, she looked at Eddy with a raised brow.

She continued, “Do you get it now? My husband is a hero to me, and our marriage is doing very, very well.

“It’s not something people like you can understand. So please don’t try to drive a wedge between us anymore. You’re just wasting your breath.”

Eddy looked at Caroline. All the words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat.

Then, he spat, “Caroline, I’m saying this for your own good. No matter what, I hope you can properly think this through. Don’t be stubborn!”

With that, he turned around and left. After taking a few steps, he turned back around. “By the way, I forgot to tell you something.”

Caroline looked at him and asked, “What is it?”

“Grandpa has been in bad health recently. You should visit hi more often if you have time. Also, he really hopes we can be together, so I hope you won’t say such hurtful words when you see him.”

Caroline pursed her lips. After a while, she said, “I’ll make sure to visit him.”

However, she didn’t agree to Eddy’s second request.

Eddy was frustrated. He didn’t know what to say, so he had no choice but to leave.

As soon as he reached the elevator, he saw Kirk sauntering from the other end of the corridor.

Eddy was very surprised to see him. He asked, “Uncle Kirk? What are you doing here?”

M “I’m here to see Caroline.” Kirk’s tone was calm, and he had a dull expression. There was only a hint of mysteriousness in his gaze.

Eddy was very depressed. “Uncle Kirk, can you go for a walk with me?”

Kirk pondered for a moment and hummed in assent. Then, the two men walked to the garden together.

Eddy covered his cheek in pain. “Uncle Kirk, what do you think is wrong with me? Back then, I thought it was pointless for Grandpa to insist that Caroline and I be together.

“But now, I feel very uncomfortable thinking about her being with another man.”

Kirk said indifferently, “People are always like this. They don’t know how to appreciate something until they lose it.”

“What should I do?” Eddy looked at Kirk in pain.

Kirk said, “I advise you to stay away from Caroline.”

Eddy said reluctantly, “Why?”

Kirk’s eyes landed on Eddy’s confused face. Then, he chuckled, “Because you wouldn’t cherish her after you get her back.”

Eddy didn’t notice the hint of ridicule in Kirk’s eyes. He lowered his head and asked, “Is that really going to happen?”

Kirk remained silent, staring at Eddy with a hint of fire in his eyes.

After a long while, Eddy raised his head, his eyes still full of conflict.

“I think you’re right, Uncle Kirk. The reason I want Caroline is because I’ve lost her once. Maybe I wouldn’t want her anymore when I get her back.”

The coldness in Kirk’s eyes disappeared to some extent. He stood up and patted Eddy on the shoulder.

“That’s right, so don’t think about Caroline anymore. Just keep your distance from her, and you’ll slowly realize you’re not in love with her. You simply want to have her.”

Kirk’s words enlightened Eddy. He forcibly ignored his disappointment and thanked him.

“Thank you, Uncle Kirk. You’re really the guide on my journey. I would have thought I was in love with Caroline if it hadn’t been for you.”

Kirk smiled cunningly, like a fox. “You should go home, then.”
